I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this library yet. I recently officially moved to Farmington Hills…read morebecause my husband lived here (he had bought a house here before we met), and therefore I switched from my home Clawson library to this one. Overall this is a really nice, modern library. Huge space overall, with lots of computers, it seems, and a big kids/YA section too. The bathrooms are a bit old school / high school-ish, with tiny stalls. I usually stop by here when I have a book or two on hold, and the hold area inside is easy to find ... they also have an outdoor locker area of sorts you can use. For returns, there's an outdoor slot if you don't want to go into the library, but it's a bit hidden - it's on the side of the building closest to the USPS building across the street (East side of building, I believe, then). Overall, very nice library, I kinda just wish the walk from the parking lot to the entrance was shorter, especially in winter.

I just started taking out books in the fall and it couldn't be simpler to do. If they don't have…read morewhat I'm looking for they can usually get it with 2 business days. They automatically renew your books if you haven't returned them twice. I'm loving this library and kicking myself for not getting a card sooner. Top notch service here. I highly recommend stopping in and picking up something to read or more.

West Bloomfield Township Westacres Branch Library - Just one of several areas with computers and access to internet

This Branch is conveniently located on the north side of the township offering residents a very nice option to the main branch without the 30 - 40 minute round trip travel time. The building itself is very clean and modern and is very well organized in its layout. Relative to media, this branch has a large collection of books, news papers, periodicals, educational/entertainment DVD videos, educational/entertainment CD's and audio books. One of my favorite areas is the DVD area where they carry new release movies that are available for FREE to West Bloomfield residents with their library card. Also their are many computers available to access the internet through the use of their library card that provide lower income folks and people who want a quiet place to study the ability to access the internet free of charge. Lastly, this facility is very kid friendly with several play areas dedicated to children and a weekly story time hour program that we usually take our Grandkids to (big hit for our grandkids). Overall West Acres is a outstanding library that is one of the gems of the township that I highly recommend you check it out if you are in the area. Five stars.

So I'm definitely biased in writing this review, because I'm a former employee (page) of the…read morelibrary - however, I believe my last day was in 2007 or 2008 or so. Not as big as the main branch, for sure, but if you live up in the WB/Waterford area, it's worth a visit. I remember how it looked before the facelift, too (the 2000 one, mentioned below) and it's come quite a ways since then. Staff is helpful (again, I'm biased ...) and IIRC, there is plenty of seating room with a few cozy corners as well - the magazine area especially has some nice seating areas. If you live up in this area, it's worth it to go here rather than the main library, though if you're looking for meeting space or a bit more room, I'd recommend the Main. Overall, though, a very nice, smaller library.

I browsed the little bookstore and purchased a 1000 piece puzzle from Springbok and two cd's all for just $5.00. There is a children's room right at the front of the entrance. Also at the front of the entrance are a nice selection of mobility aids for those that need a little assistance getting around. The entrance itself is full of beautiful plants, trees and scenic decorations, making the entire vibe very welcoming. There is a computer room in the far back, a heft section of nothing but large print books. The front desk people were very knowledgeable and friendly.

She suggested the Bloomfield Township Public Library and admittedly, I was a bit hesitant at first. However, I was in need of somewhere quiet to connect to video calls and I didn't have much time, so I somewhat begrudgingly headed over. Wow - I was blown away by the beautiful space - both indoor and out. There are plenty of friendly staff members to help answer your questions, obviously tons of books, a large and colorful children's area, an outdoor area, a vending machine area, computer area, plenty of desks, and private rooms for members. I am not a resident or member, so I headed outside to a beautiful terrace and I'm now back for my second day working here because I loved it so much. I haven't looked too deeply, but there also appear to be programs for community members of all ages to partake in - from book clubs and writers groups to knitting groups, summer craft kits, language conversation groups, speed dating with a book, and so much more. I'm literally so impressed with everything this library has to offer. I will be back and this may inspire me to also visit my own library back home. Lesson learned: never question a suggestion from my mom ;)

The room was very large and the doors were mostly soundproof, which was good because we had a lot of little kids attending the party too, LOL (who were a bit loud). I did use the family bathroom next door to it, at one point - it's very cute, with a tiny toilet for kids and a regular-sized one for adults. Unfortunately it did smell pretty badly, which is why this reviews is a 4-star one and not 5-star. I attended a workshop that was held at the Library of Waterford Township. There were a number of…read morelocations where this workshop was being offered but this one was the closest for me. I combined the trip with a couple of errands for gas, etc that I could take care of on the way. GPS found got me to the library in plenty of time. It was tucked away in a grouping of other township offices, police, courthouse, etc. but once within the complex I just followed the signs and it was easy to find. I parked in the decent sized lot and walked inside and up to the counter to ask for the room or location of the presentation. They were very helpful and pointed out where I needed to go for the meeting. The meeting room itself was set up with chairs for 30-40 people; I think there were about a dozen attendees. The room was enclosed and the Audio and Video equipment worked well for the speaker's slideshow.

Reviews I visit the…read morelibrary frequently, and have previously given them a good review for the service side of the house. Today's review is regarding the IT side of the house, and inability/refusal to respond to security incidents*. On 2/16/23, while using library services it was discovered access to files from other users, files not from my session were available to me. Timestamps indicated they were from 2/13 & 2/14, a couple of days prior. Files included receipts from ride services, and tax data for at least one user. This was brought to the attention of the resident IT person "Andrew"(IT) and Reference Desk staff. IT accepted the feedback on the discovered misconfiguration and made some dismissals regarding open support tickets with vendors. Those would not address the topic raised on 2/16. IT was offered a temp fix to implement until such time as a more permanent solution could be designed and implemented for the library patrons Any solution would need to isolate user sessions TO THE USER, with zero ability for one user to access any other users data. On 2/18/23 similar file/data leak behaviors were discovered, tested, and communicated to the reference desk personnel after the front desk refused to hear the reports. Reference Desk personnel attempted to dismiss these reports as insignificant due to "no one else saying anything", and "feeling that IT has kept the library 'safe'". Additionally discovered on or about 2/18/23 was a local school student account being logged into windows mail since roughly 08/2022. A request for a form to write up and report the findings to IT directly was not available, indicating reference desk would need to "email IT about the issue". It should be noted that if non-technical staff dismiss technical issues, the communication would not occur. If non-technical staff dismiss reported information Security Incidents, the report to IT would not occur. Additionally, filtering incidents like this through unqualified staff may reasonably result in further Information Security incidents and possibly lawsuits, should no corrective actions be taken and any exploitation were to occur. An offer to write up the vulnerability report, and to perform a full vulnerability assessment were given to Reference Desk personnel, both were dismissed. It was indicated that the person making the report is the problem, not any perceived or actual security incidents. It should be noted we learn to "see something, say something, do something" regarding work-related safety violations. We also learn "If you see something Say something"** regarding suspicious and/or criminal activities to local law enforcement. The Library report process seems to disregard best practices in favor of feelings. it was observed yelp, a public business/service review website, was blocked ON library computers. That block would not prevent a public review where a private report was handled inappropriately. Library personnel were informed of this report prior to posting, and scoffed at the notion. *Information Security Incident reports are essential for receiving, processing, and resolving various technical issues as they are uncovered. Misconfigurations and staff fatigue may be understandable. Refusal to take reports is not. https://www.embroker.com/blog/top-10-cybersecurity-threats-2022/ **OSHA, DHS, and IT Security Compliance advocate reporting safety, security, suspicious activity concerns IMMEDIATELY/ASAP. https://www.metacompliance.com/blog/cyber-security-awareness/incident-reporting-and-why-you-need-it
