The dish was mostly meat to my surprise with a side of potato sticks and 2 crackers. Not sure what to do with the sticks since you cant use it to scoop or pair with the beef tartare anyways. Overall was disappointing to say the least. Will not come back but many people will wander off to the streets as it is on a main street i am sure.

There was no spot in the bathroom to set anything down aside from on the floor, the shower head was awkward and difficult to work around in various positions, the pillows were super thin, the bathroom always smelled really bad even when nobody used it for hours, the door leading to the terrace is always locked which kind of defeats the purpose, and the ladder to the bunk beds was extremely difficult and scary to use even while very much sober.  -We planned a couple nights around the hostel dinner, which is scheduled at 9p. One of the dinners wasn't served til nearly 10:30p, which meant we had to cancel our plans.  -My food was taken from the fridge within 12 hours of bringing it back, despite writing our info on it. -Luggage room security is lacking, as it's all based on an honor system once you have the key.

I loved the energy and the daily night events that they held, such as bar nights, a tapa night, a paella night and so forth! They are also very informative on directions and tips about sites that you might want to check out in Barcelona! Their complimentary map is very helpful as well! They have an open lounge area, an internet computer section, a private skater room to my surprise, laundry facility and a kitchen area to cook in! Pretty unique for a hostel that I have experienced in thus far! Plus, they conveniently have an elevator! It takes a major load off when or if you have a huge luggage that is twice your size to bring up! Rather than carrying my heavy luggage up the stairs manually, the elevator was a savior! I definitely had a pleasant and fun time here! I highly recommend this hostel!

It was so easy to make friends and socialize, especially with the walking tours and hostel dinners. I've had bad experiences with party hostels but still wanted to be social, so this was a good balance of a social hostel that was not too party-centric. The room was very clean with huge drawers under the bed and a small cupboard by the head of each bed. My regular lock didn't fit in the drawer lock, so you need a skinny padlock. It was sometimes difficult to share one en-suite sink, shower, and toilet with five other girls, but I'm glad they were each separate from each other. The wifi was very weak from my bed, so I had to walk towards the inside of the room or go to the common area for internet. The common area was great for working and virtual meetings. There is a small rooftop with a bar and tiny pool. They have nice computers in the lobby you can use. The hostel is in a great location. It is a 15-minute walk to La Sagrada Familia and to Casa Batllo (opposite direction). They have daily walking tours that are very informative and rely on tips. Breakfast is buffet-style and a little pricey at 7€. The dinners are delicious and only 12€. They are three-course meals with two free drinks (sangria or beer). The night tours are 15€ and take you to two bars then a club. They include club entry and three free shots.

The location was perfect - walking distance to anything you could want from cafes and public transportation to tourists sites like La Sagrada and other Gaudi architecture. We stayed in a 4-bunk room with it's own bathroom. The bunks had little cubbies to place small things like your phone or glasses at night. And there was storage beneath for luggage. I liked the layout of the kitchen - tables around the perimeter and at the center was where communal dinners were made/served. We tried the paella but weren't blown away. The sangria on the other hand - who knew the boxed stuff tasted so good! There's even a shared refrigerator where you can store food or chill wine (be sure to label your items). We even partook in a night out with others staying at the hostel. It was nice to meet people, and enjoy a night out at 3 local bars that we might not have visited otherwise. The location alone is worth it, not to mention the price and cleanliness.

Also, the bathrooms, kitchen, and linens weren't the cleanest in the world. They weren't necessarily super nasty, but it was definitely a reminder that we weren't staying in a hotel. In addition to that, people tended to come in at like 3 in the morning and be very loud, which woke us up each night. Good things: The staff is quite friendly, English-speaking, and there is 24 hour reception. They have a locked luggage room where you can store your things, or lockers (though you need your own lock for those). The beds are reasonably comfortable, and the hostel is very close to the metro and the Sagrada Familia. It's also extremely close to the Girona airport and about a 20 min taxi ride to the El Prat airport (it only cost me 20€ to take a taxi all the way to the airport, which is pretty reasonable). And I don't think anyone is going to argue with the awesomeness of free internet! My experience overall was positive, and There's a good chance I would book there again if I ever return to Barcelona. However, I definitely wasn't "wow'd" by my time there, hence the 3 stars. Not bad but improvements could be made.

Apart from the hostel which is "good", the staff is really friendly and the rooms are always nice and clean. Showers have some free space between the door and the actual shower to keep your clothes dry while you don't have to go outside naked to get your stuff. A lot of hostels seem to not have thinked about this. Rooms have power outlets to charge your camera, phone or computer and some beds have reading lights as well. Every bed has its own locker and the biggest dorms are equipped with 8 beds, which is fine if you want to sleep in daytime or at night - some other hostels in Barcelona offer 12, 14 or 18-bedded dorms which is nuts if you want to get some rest or when you're staying longer than 2-3 days. The kitchen is big and almost fully equipped, with the only disadvantage for me being the lack of an oven to cook pizza or other pre-prepared meals. Downstairs is a nice chilling area with a bar (which is unfortunately closed) and a big TV room. There are plenty of free computers (11) and wi-fi available. Every day there's a free walking tour taking about 2,5 hours covering most of Barri Gothic and in the evening there's a daily activity. There are two paella nights a week on which the hostel staff cooks both chicken and vegetarian paella which is delicious. They also have guest list access to some of the clubs in Barcelona, although probably not the best clubs out there. Some examples: Carpe Diem Lounge Club, Shoko and La Boîte. The location is good, but not perfect. You'll have to walk for about 10-15 minutes to get to the Ramblas and 20-25 minutes to Plaça Reial. The Sagrada Familia is also about 20 minutes walking. If you don't feel like walking you can always take the subway: the hostel is close to L1 station 'Arc De Triomf' and L4/L1 station 'Urquinaona' (less than 5 minutes walking). I've stayed here for more than a month and I didn't have a single bad experience - so far so good. If you're looking for a good hostel in Barcelona- look no further. This is the one.

My home base during my wonderful trip to Barcelona was at the Yrubban Trafalgar Hotel near the city's Gothic quarter. The hotel is thoroughly modern and offers all sorts of quirky touches, not to mention a wide variety of amenities - including a wine bar, laundry, bike rental, a workout area, breakfast, and a rooftop deck and swimming pool area that offers spectacular 360 degree views of the city. The staff are also professional, efficient and very accommodating. I came to my senses a few days ago when I realized that I'm not actually a Spaniard and I'd been living a shock-induced lie. The last thing I remember of my previous life was driving to mid-town Ventura in California to get a coffee when a semi-truck veered into my lane and just missed turning my tiny car into a twisted heap of plastic and metal. I'm sure that I must have gone into shock, because I've no memories after that event until I inexplicably found myself working at a small, family-owned insurance company in Barcelona - mostly handling client services, minor administrative tasks, and selling a few term life policies. Stay away from whole life, it's a flawed investment strategy that will likely undermine any promised advantages with exorbitant fees. As I've explained to my ex-wife and children many times over the years, playing first base for the Los Angeles Dodgers and selling affordable insurance products in the Catalan region of Spain have been my dreams since I was a young boy. Not surprisingly, I was fired a few days ago because I exaggerated the extent of my insurance expertise to my nuevo jefe. Plus I speak only conversational Spanish - and it would have to be a very brief conversation with perhaps only a moderately intelligent Spanish child. Being fired and then, while walking home from my office, getting accosted by an inordinately aggressive pigeon in a deserted Barcelona alleyway, shook me out of my crumbling insurance-related delusion. I learned while staying in relative luxury at the Yrubban Trafalgar Hotel, however, that one must be prepared if one's dreams are to be realized. I was not prepared. But I will return. Regresare Barcelona y segura! In the meantime, I started cleaning up my old first baseman's glove. Gracias Yrubban Trafalgar!

i absolutely love this hotel. very welcoming staff with great english in a good area that's close…read moreto the craziness but not smack in the middle of it. lobby smells amazing with good music playing in the common areas. pool is small, really just enough for a cool off dip but the rooftop view is amazing with a bar for drinks. happy hour 6:30-7:30 in the lobby with free wine, sangria, & cheese. espresso machine & water refill station in the lobby that's available 24/7. room: decently sized (larger than NYC hotels) with great AC, nice bathroom and shower, comfy bed and sheets, mini fridge, plenty of storage space, and basic coffee maker and water in room. breakfast at their sister hotel next door is incredible. not included but amazing price for what it is with eggs and coffee made to order as well as a buffet of pastries, breads (with tomato!), fruits, veggies, yogurt, juices, meats, cheese, etc. also: self serve CHAMPAGNE. their sister hotel also has a spa with reasonably priced services and water circuit (going later so will update with how it was!) services i'm not using but are nice touches: fitness center, free bikes and wifi hotspots (subject to availability), helpful maps of the city, self serve laundry room, lots of work spaces/tables in the lobby (which again, smells SO GOOD. i can't get over it). i travel a lot and am rarely impressed by hotels unless they're absurdly priced. this place is already reasonable af plus i got an amazing deal on hotel tonight so i am shook at what i paid for this top tier stay. i will absolutely stay here again if i'm ever back in barcelona!

Near a lot of tourist attractions and a lot of day tours start nearby as well. Area is always busy with people, so I always felt safe even at night. There is a market next door, an amazing burger place a block away, and good shopping from Zara and Primark! Staff are really attentive with keeping outsiders away from the living quarters and keeping alcohol within the bar. Second time staying here!

I'll save the biggest problem for last, but my sole goal of coming to this place was to get at…read moreleast some sleep after a midnight flight getting me to St Christopher's Inn at 3:30AM, and there were obstacles. The guy at the desk told me check-out is at 8AM, which cost me sleep time fact-checking his telling me that I'd only get about four hours sleep (actually, check-out is at 11 like everywhere else, but this foreshadows that the front desk is inexperienced and unreliable). The room smelled like feet, such that I slept breathing through a face mask. There was a constant hum, such that I had to sleep with ear plugs. There are four bunks connected, and when one person shifts, they all rock together, and I had bad luck with somebody on the other side of the partition who was not finding the right position. (Of course, she had to contend with people like me who show up at 3AM, who try to be quiet as possible but still have to haul themselves into bed.) This is by no means my first hostel, I know what to expect, but this one rated badly on the things that matter for sleep, like ventilation, noise, and bed quality. The biggest problem, though, was that my reservation wasn't marked for the right night. I'd requested that it be changed months ago, and was vigorously assured then that the change was made, but it got lost in the system. The guy who checked me in late at night was peevish about having to rebook me (cutting into my sleep time), and the manager I spoke to about it during the day, "Kelly", well, I just feel bad for her. In our extensive discussion of the long paper trail I showed her, it came out that (1) all conversations with front desk staff (including via web chat) are not deemed reliable, (2) there is a bot that pre-routes messages and sometimes marks them as cleared without passing them on to a human, and (3) I won't get a refund for their failure to correct the reservation three months earlier because the paper trail I'd shown her repeatedly refers to the corrected date, but is not complete to her satisfaction, due to known problems #1 and #2. I can tell that every day Kelly has to explain to somebody whose reservation is borked that the system is flawed and everybody knows it, but her job is to strictly enforce the terms and conditions of her employer. It has to be a hard job that wears on her soul. The best way you can help Kelly is to not deal with the reservation system at all and book somewhere else.
