I moved to the area at 34 weeks pregnant, and Greater New Haven was the second practice I called in…read moremy frantic search for a doctor to take me so far along AND during Covid. The very first receptionist I spoke to, upon hearing my story, IMMEDIATELY got me the earliest appointment possible. I was initially taken aback that I saw a different provider on each visit, but completely understand the thought behind it. My baby was delivered by Elizabeth Schwartz and Dr. Julie Shih was the OB on call. Both of them were warm, friendly, professional, and sympathetic listeners during my labor. My husband is a medical professional so he had technical questions which they gladly discussed with him, while focusing on giving me the direct down-to-earth care I wanted as I labored. I had some delivery complications which they handled beautifully, resulting in me and my baby both having an excellent hospital recovery. However, I did have some postpartum issues (unrelated to GNH's actions), and Elizabeth scheduled extra in-person and telehealth appointments to monitor my health and ensure I received the care I needed. My baby and I are now both healthy, and I was able to accomplish the drug-free labor that was my goal! Note: there is always an office wait time, which is difficult for my family situation. Otherwise this would be a 5-star review!

I just saw Nurse Nicole Waller today (2pm, 03 Oct) - this, after making an appointment long ago…read morewith Dr. Abigail Bootes, who I see as my Ob-Gyn. No courtesy to let me know that they switched the practitioner on me. Two days before my visit, an email said: you'll be seeing Nicole - no courtesy call, no checking with me if it was okay to do so. Nothing. I called and let them know that I was not happy about this. How is this different from the Marketplace plans where you don't get to choose your doc? Today at the visit, I got told that a student was shadowing Nicole. I agreed because they need to learn too! The student asked me the routine questions, went and reported back to Nicole. Then came Nurse Nicole who came in a great hurry, was very very rushed, did her exam in 5 minutes and was gone. She came in at 2.14 and was gone by 2.19 pm.I was disappointed that in an annual visit that could last up to an hour, I got to see a nurse practitioner for merely 5 minutes!! Certainly not going back to this practice.....very very unhappy with their rushed, brusque treatment today. Last year I had a good experience with Dr. Bootes, but this year it isn't worth even awarding the 1 star I gave!! Why do they give a well woman's annual appointment, only to do a rush exam/review? And the little Nurse Nicole did, was to merely show the student the minimal she needed to show..... If not for the shadowing student, not sure if she'd have spent even the 5 minutes she did. I'd give 0 stars, if I could.

My doctor is very kind and takes the time to explain things to me. She's one of the midwives here, but there are doctors as well if that's your preference. I've had appointments where i waited for two minutes and ones where I've waited for twenty-two minutes, so that's a mixed bag. When i'm able, I make early morning appointments and that seems to help reduce the waiting time.

I have never been so upset with a person or business that I actually take time out to write…read moresomething negative but I am just beyond belief with this woman. The very first time I went to her I was 16 and she seemed nice then. She understood the fact that I didn't want birth control and my reasons why. I don't know what happened or if she only cares about an initial impression but I have never been treated so badly by a doctor, it has actually brought me to tears. I spend AT LEAST 45 minutes to an hour in the waiting room (even when its not busy) just to go wait another 45-60 minutes NAKED waiting in the room for her. once she gets in she spends literally ten minutes most with me talking about different birth controls and that's it. (mind you I was never having much sex anyways) The second time I had gone to her I told her it is possible for me to still have a bacterial infection because I did not finish the medicine. She told me she would check that and went on with the pap smear. THREE MONTHS later I get a letter from them saying they have tried calling me numerous times and could not reach me, that my pap came back abnormal and I had to go back. She then calls me back off private and when I asked her why my pap would be abnormal (as shes laughing, talking to someone in the backgrund) she tells me its most likely HPV. WOW. I spent that entire night worrying trying to find out about HPV and abnormal pap smears. She didn't explain anything and she had absolutly NO RIGHT to say its most likely HPV when it could be simply from having my period recently. Neither she or her nurse EVER take note to my latex allergy which they laugh about because "usually they are very on top of that stuff" (according to them). So I go back and have another pap smear. I ask if anything showed up for the bacterial infection and I was told she did not do a test on that. While I was there that visit, I made sure they had my phone number. That pap came out fine and HPV wasn't mentioned again. This all happened starting January 2013. They called me to schedule my yearly which would have been Jan. 2014 and I made an appointment but said I am still currently looking for another obgyn so whichever comes first. They never called me to confirm that appointment nor did I care to go but they just recently called me again about a month or two ago to schedule an appointment and I said no thanks Id rather die than go back to those people and now today I get a letter in the mail from them saying after numerous times trying to reach my phone number they sent that letter letting me know my pap came back abnormal and I need to go back WTF?? The last pap I had from those people was OVER a YEAR ago and ACCORDING TO THEM it was normal. I would NOT recommend Dr. Maloy to even my greatest enemy not that I have one but I just wouldn't point ANYONE into the direction of these people. Everyone is so rude I have never felt so disrespected and disregarded and this is someone who I should be able to trust. You shouldn't be working with people if you can't care for people. I am young and I want to some day have kids I try to do the right thing and be healthy and it's a shame that one person who should be supporting that actually just ruined it for me.
