I noticed at a Girl Scout meeting my daughter and another student from Thales couldn't read nearly as well as their peers. I decided to have my daughter assessed independently, and we were shocked to learn she was testing below a kindergarten level (she was in 1st grade) in both reading and math. The lack of academic progress made sense once I actually saw how the classrooms are run. I substitute taught at the school several times and quickly realized that the "teachers" are not licensed educators. They simply stand there and read verbatim what a book tells them to say. They are untrained employees. They are literally just reading instructions out loud, not actually teaching the students. I immediately withdrew my kids. My daughter started second grade in the Williamson County public school system and was far behind. It took over two years of RTI, summer school, and private tutors just to get her caught up to her peers.

You've put me in a tough spot, here: I have to defend the school against such harsh criticism, but my Mama Bear claws came out more than once during our time there. And you gotta poke this bear with a big stick for that to happen. So, prepared her for high school? 5 stars.
