There is ample seating in the dining room with counter seating, high top seating, several tables for two and a couple of tables for 4. They have several retail items for sale in the front including tea, coffee, jewelry, cups and other items. This is a comfortable coffee shop to experience. They don't care at all about customer service and they hire people that are rude to customers. another coffee shop needs to open in town so they actually start caring when they lose customers. I actually emailed tbis place twiceabout a really bad experience with one of their baristas, and no one cares apparently because they haven't gotten back to me. Don't get me wrong. A lot of the people that work there are great but when someone who works there tells a customer that they should've said please in a situation where they were wrong in the first place is actually just insane. so one bad customer service experience can ruin everything especially when the owners don't address it. sad. read more

I love coming to visit family in the Salem/Greenford area, but the lack of good bougie coffee is always hard to get through. Whenever I travel I search "Cortado" in hopes that I'll be pleasantly surprised. Well Kristen and Jake made my day. They're brewing up Sightglass, Crema, and a couple other beans that really took me by surprise. One of my longtime favorite coffee shops in the area. I may be a little biased, considering that I live only 10 mins away.. but the coffee truly is wonderful here. Jake has been working here for many years and is very experienced. I believe they get their beans from Branch Street coffee, which has been voted third best in Ohio. The bagels are delicious. Nicely toasted. I haven't had any of the sandwiches yet. Everything from the atmosphere, the decor and the hospitality is near perfect. My only complaint is that they don't serve the coffee in mugs, only paper cups. But this coffee shop is a staple of the community and we are lucky to have such a great place in our town! First time coming here with my mom for a visit to Ohio. I was looking for a coffee house local to the area. When I arrived I took notice of its clean, urban atmosphere and was so exited to taste the coffee. Usually when I go to coffee shops like this the quality can let me down. But unlike my usual expectation, the coffee was FANTASTIC. Working in a coffee shop, I know when the barista has taken the time to clean the espresso machine and steam milk properly. I hadn't realized one could become so emotionally in love with a place such as this. Oh, Generations, how are you so perfect? What has gotten into you, thou small Columbianian coffee house? What inspired you to strive to become as wonderful as this? No really, Generations compares to the best coffee shops in Pittsburgh or Cleveland or any city of considerable magnitude. In fact, better than some. Columbiana has better coffee than the entire city of Akron. And Canton for that matter. In other words Generations is 100% third wave, not something you usually find in a town the size of a Fiat 500. Unless of course you live somewhere near the burbs of Seattle or something. Now let me explain a bit. First of all, Sightglass and Commonplace coffee. Enough said but I will say more. Quality equipment, espresso machine, grinder, pour-over stuff, they even have a siphon sitting on a shelf. It's not currently in use for the average customer but the barista said it may come to that once they get busier. Simple menu, all that is needed and not much more. The vintage/industrial design that is the accepted look for the current-day third wave coffee shop. Awesome baristas that actually know the correct way to produce a superior beverage. So here I am, wondering how they manage to pull this kind of quality off in such a small non-hip town. Maybe it's a sign of more brilliant things to come outside of big cities. read more

Excellent and cutting-edge coffee products, amazingly delicious snacks made from scratch, an atmosphere that makes me drive an hour away for a cup of coffee, and baristas who remember you and take pride in their establishment. It's too bad that they are in such a small town that may not fully appreciate what they have. I really enjoy the coffee at Generations. Today I tried the hot chocolate. Not a fan. It came out in a clear glass rather than a mug and it was luke warm. It was basically luke warm chocolate milk. I took 3 sips and that was all. Moral of this post is order coffee or tea but never the hot (warm) chocolate. read more

I do a fair amount of traveling for work, and am always on the lookout for a great coffee place. Up until I found Generations, I've only been to two locations that really "wowed" me, one in San Francisco, and the other in Chicago. Generations is on par with if not better than both those places, and it's basically in my backyard! Also, the staff is equally as knowledgable but more friendly that you will find in the big city. Still not sure how I lucked out to have this gem so close by and how Columbiana is able to offer that big city coffee house quality in a small town setting, but for anyone in the area, it is worth a trip out. read more
