This hotel is really nice…read more Been here a few times and returned under their special winter pkg. Occupancy was low. Room was clean. Restaurant was excellent. Breakfast food and service excellent. Large portions. Starbucks coffee free, front desk in morning fantastic. Makes no sense, you can bring free coffee into Restaurant but if you order it with breakfast, $5.00. Front desk, Jacob evening fantastic. Some daytime staff at desk unfriendly and so, so. Shower, no cold water in couple rooms, some only hot water. Still overall recommended. Nice pool and hottub. Large event space and easy parking. Ps Robes are very nice and worth $75. If you need one.

First, a fire alarm at 2:30 am meant I didn't sleep the rest of the night (meanwhile, I had to check out the next day and drive 3 hours to get home. Maybe no big deal for a young person in good health, but for a senior with myriad health issues, this was the start of a bad experience that just kept snowballing. Next, the hotel's boiler broke and it took them all night and well past 9 am before it was fixed. Right at the time when everyone is trying to take their shower, but can't so they can't get out, check out or just wash their hands???? How does a business whose sole service is providing "hospitality" NOT have a backup boiler?? Not a perfect solution, but a backup could have been activated and some service restored while the main boiler was being repaired during the morning wake-up, get out and go hours. The hotel doesn't offer a continental breakfast, just an overpriced and reportedly mediocre restaurant onsite. They do offer coffee, but there was NO coffee when I checked, even though it was still well within the window when they purport to offer it--and no one in sight to ask if they could refill the carafes. So now, I've had it. All I want to do is get the hell out. But I have severe COPD so I have to lug my oxygen machine as well as regular luggage anytime I travel. I could'nt manage all of it by myself. But of course all TWO of the luggage carts were in use by able-bodied single thirty somethings or families with children. Wouldn't it make sense for the hotel to reserve at least ONE cart for people in wheelchairs or who have trouble BREATHING??? When I went back to retrieve my oxygen machine, the key card would not open the room door because it was just past checkout time, so I had to go back to the lobby and ask the front desk to temporarily reactivate my card key. Will I visit Clayton NY again? Absolutely. Will I stay at the Harbor Hotel again? Sorry to say, No.

A few weeks ago, my daughter called me and said that we should go on a "Staycation". I did not know…read morewhat this meant. She explained that many people were doing this to save money in transportation when going to other places. It meant we stay in Kingston, where we live, and enjoy re-discovering our town, taking tours, we had not done before, disconnecting for a few days of our jobs, and most important, spending time just us: mother and daughter. What a wonderful surprise it was for me to arrived at Frontenac Club to spent 3 days together. This boutique hotel is one of a kind located in the heart of downtown Kingston. We parked the car in the parking lot of the hotel during all our stay, as we were able to walk to the sites we wanted to visit. Also, within walking distance are the best restaurants in town. We were given two marvelous suites, one with a full living room, king bed, and an astonishing bathroom with a bathtub. The other one was also very impressive with all the amenities needed. Both suites were impeccable clean! Every morning, we went down to their restaurant called "The Bank" where we had a well served and complete breakfast (included), and the last day we dine there (tapas), accompanied by life music and the tastiest margaritas I have ever had. Frontenac Club personnel make a special point to get to know their guests. With 20 suites, all with different themes and sizes, they catered families, singles and couples. They have a sweet bar and small arcade for children, a lounge to read and play games, a patio to relax, enjoy the weather while having meals served also there. It is important to note that Frontenac Club is a heritage historic house build in 1871, and although it has been completely and beautifully renovated, it has kept its special character. It was home to one of the first Canadian Bank of Montreal, and therefore there is a vault, so large that it has been conditioned to host business meetings or private celebrations. I highly recommend staying at Frontenac Club. If you are celebrating an anniversary, or a family gathering (my brother and his family stayed here when they visited us from overseas), or if you are celebrating another special occasion, or coming to Kingston as a tourist, or as a staycation guest, you will not be disappointed!

We had planned a three day, two night staycation, with the plan to play tourists in our own beautiful city. The Frontenac Club, as the premiere luxury hotel in the area, was the ideal backdrop to this mother-daughter time, but to say that it exceeded our expectations is a serious understatement. The property itself is stunning, a perfect blend of historic character and modern luxury. The rooms are elegant yet inviting, with thoughtful design that makes every detail feel curated just for you. Our suites were a sanctuary: the Bell had soaring windows that filled the space with light, plush bedding that enveloped us in comfort, and my room, the Locomotive, had a spa-like bathroom that made every morning and evening feel indulgent. Every single inch of every space was impeccable. I am not sure if the staff run around with magnifying glasses, but I swear I couldn't find one thing that wasn't so clean that it sparkled. Each morning, we had a fantastic breakfast, included. It was really fun to come back to the room each night to find the menu for the next morning - each day had a special feature. On the first morning we had the Frontenac Benny, and on the second, we had stuffed french toast (a personal standout for the trip). We also loved the signature cocktails offered at the gorgeous bar, and indulged in the Candy Bar hidden away on the 2nd floor. Even sitting and reading in the comfortable and well appointed boardgame bar was a quiet respite from regular life. But what truly sets the Frontenac Club apart is the people, especially Sean. His warmth, dedication, and genuine care made us feel like family. That rare balance of world-class luxury with heartfelt hospitality is almost impossible to find, and yet Sean and the team deliver it effortlessly. My mom and I will never forget how welcome and cared for we felt; it's the kind of experience that stays with you long after you leave. When I first arrived, Thomas showed me to our rooms, and I told my mom that I would need to go get some bath bombs for the huge soaker tub. To my surprise, a few moments later while I was settling in, Thomas knocked on the door with some bath supplies. Each member of staff is available at all times - a cellphone number is provided and you can text any request and they will literally go above and beyond to find a way to make things even more special. Its these kinds of little moments that make a luxury stay so worthwhile. Kingston is a great place to visit. To see it from the lens of visitors for the first time really reminded us what makes it so special - we took the Island Princess boat cruise and saw a stunning sunset, ate at world-class restaurants like Tango Nuevo and Casa Domenico, and enjoyed the Kingston Penitentiary tour. Thank you to the Frontenac Club for hosting us on this really special getaway. From the quiet elegance of the rooms, to the extraordinary service, to the sense of being at home in a place so rich with history, the Frontenac Club is more than a hotel--it's a destination in itself. Kingston is lucky to have such a gem, and we can't wait to return. (If I could give more, I would.)

I like the concept of boutique hotels but sometimes find they can be too cramped or stuffy, not the Harbor House Inn. It's intimate but rooms are spacious so you feel like you can breathe. The room was absolutely amazing, farmhouse chic with a splash of coastal aesthetic. The soaking tub was to die for! The bed was very comfy. All the staff were friendly. Our room had a partial view of the lake, was a welcome surprise. The hotel is right in the center of town, perfect walking location to the battlefield, shops and eateries. We paid $152 a night including taxes and fees (booked directly through the hotel, not a third party). This hotel is right off Highway 401, so very convenient. We had a room facing the Brockville Convention Centre and not facing the highway, so noise was not a problem. It is within walking distance to a few shops, restaurants, and fast food joints. It's a Holiday Inn Express, so the rooms are pretty basic. No fridge, no microwave. However, you get free hot breakfast buffet, free WiFi and free parking. The rooms were clean. I carry Clorox wipes with me when I stay in hotels and I wipe down all the hard surfaces. The wipes came out white (not grey or black), so I was happy. There were some stains on the fabric computer chair at the desk though, so this was a bit off-putting, but I've seen much worse at other hotels. They have a small fitness centre and pool. I didn't use the pool, but I saw it because the pool and fitness centre are separated by a glass wall. I think it's a bit weird to have to look at people in the pool while you're on the elliptical, but I guess the glass wall makes the fitness centre look and feel not as small. The fitness centre is tiny. The sign says maximum room capacity is 6 people (!) The room only has 1 elliptical, 2 stationary bikes and a treadmill, no free weights/dumbbells, so I have no idea what the other 2 people would be doing, lol. I was a bit disappointed that there weren't any weights, but given the small space, I guess that's understandable. So I had to be a cardio bunny during our stay, haha. The breakfast buffet was good and comparable to other Holiday Inn Expresses. We stayed for 2 nights and the breakfast selection did not change. The hot breakfast was turkey sausage, pork sausage and scrambled eggs. They had a pancake machine. They had cinnamon buns, muffins, bagels, English muffins, and bread. They had oatmeal (with toppings you can add like raisins, walnuts, brown sugar and cinnamon), 4 types of cereal, yogurt, and boiled eggs. They had juices, coffee, tea and hot chocolate (the last 3 are available 24/7). All the staff were exceptionally nice. Stella was very warm and welcoming. They also give you Tic-Tacs in your room when you arrive and housekeeping writes you a nice welcome note. After our first night there, I left a thank-you note for housekeeping along with our tip and mentioned that I loved the Tic-Tacs. When we returned, our room attendant (Kylie) wrote me a nice note back and gave me extra Tic-Tacs! How nice was that? They also called our room on the second night that we were there to ask us if everything was ok with our room (they may have called us on our first night there but we weren't in our room so we don't know). This HIE also has free popcorn in the lobby everyday from 7pm-9pm. We didn't have the opportunity to have any, but I think that it's a very nice extra. WiFi was fast and reliable. Parking was plentiful. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The desk in the room was also a good size, and had plenty of outlets in convenient, easy to access spots for those who need to plug in and do a bit of work. I had no problem finding this location. It's across from a gas station that is still being built. There was plenty of parking. I am a platinum elite member, so I got points as my welcome gift. I got my room cards and was shown where the elevators were. I love TownePlace Suites because you get a kitchenette. My room was compact. If you like roomy, perhaps this place isn't for you. It was roomy enough for me. However, it didn't have a luggage rack. It wasn't a big deal, though. I ended up placing my luggage on the floor and unpacked that way. Anyway, the kitchenette was stocked with an entire full bottle of dishwasher liquid soap. This is rare and a first for me. I have either been happy with a tiny bottle or had to ask the front desk for a bottle. I loved the generosity! I fixed myself snacks and made my smoothie drink with my personal blender. Breakfast is served downstairs. Otherwise, you can always make meals in your room for variety. I slept extremely well. I was on the top floor, which was quiet. The bed was comfortable and spacious. I watched TV from both my bed and the sofa. I was extremely comfortable. The washroom was clean. The shower was great. The water pressure was perfect. Housekeeping did a great job with my room.
