Ms. Sheila and Ms. Tamilla in the infant room take such amazing care of her, that most days she doesn't want to come home! She absolutely loves being at school with her teachers and friends, and that says SO much about the staff and their dedication to the children. We can't imagine a better place to take care of our little girl as she grows up. We have gotten so many compliments on how well socialized she is- and we credit LKLC and their amazing team every time. We couldn't have been on this journey without you! They have quality classes for pole fitness, aerial hammocks, aerial hoop (lyra), hula hoop, stretching, cardio dance, aerial yoga, and more. I came as an advanced pole fitness student, and they worked with me to place me accordingly between pole, lyra, and hammock. The Staff: Not only are they incredibly knowledgeable about what they're teaching, they're some of the most genuine and nicest individuals I've had the pleasure of being instructed by. They are also constantly celebrating their students through different ways, including events at the studio, outings at fun places, holiday celebrations, or small personal notes. The Vibe: Not only are the instructors amazing, so are the students. At no point did I ever feel unwelcome when I was new to the studio or taking a class out of my comfort zone. We are always laughing, having fun, and constantly encouraging one another. Not only have I made new friends here, but it's always fun to be a personal cheerleader (and have them) in class! Body positivity is also a thing. We also have students of all ages, shapes, and sizes, and they are all truly beautiful. Love how many pole, aerial, and dance rooms there are, as well as a kitchen for special events. Everyone was super friendly, to the point where I had to excuse myself from conversation because I was a few minutes late to class. Oops. Audrey was the instructor, and she taught so many fun and accessible combos! Not sure when I'll be back in Oak Brook again but would love to take more classes in the future.

My daughter had tried another…read moreplace in Chicago when she was two and she seemed much more comfortable at the Dance Center of La Grange. She began pre-ballet classes when she was three and now she is four and in the tap and ballet class. There is always more than one teacher and in the afternoon classes we had three teachers (which was great). The recital did not require overpriced costumes and it was broken into different age groups (3 recitals rather than one super long recital). We have had a very positive experience at this dance studio. Honestly any sport or activity before the age of four can be challenging for everyone and Miss Robin works hard to help the children and parents.

This is not the place for little ones!…read more My 2 1/2 year old was in the pre-ballet summer session and on the first day she started to cry when I left the room and was trying to leave. So, I brought her back to the circle and sat down with her. Ms. Robin yelled across the studio that I couldn't sit there and this is not a mommy and me class. She said I should let her cry and leave the room. However, every time I tried my daughter followed me and was able to open the door to come out. The teachers made zero effort to engage her or keep her in the studio. At that point Ms. Robin said I could sit in the corner with her and observe quietly. We sat and watched and still the teachers made no effort to include her in the class. They acted as if we were not there. After class Ms. Robin said not to worry and that some times it can take a whole session for them to get used to the class. The 2nd week it was more of the same. My daughter didn't want to participate and didn't want me to leave so we again watched from the side and were completely ignored by the teachers. Later that night Ms. Robin sent me an email saying that we can come to one more class but if my daughter cannot separate and stay in the class on her own we can't come to class and she will give me a partial refund. Never in my life have a heard of a 2 year old being kicked out of any recreational activity b/c of separation anxiety!

This newish dance studio is a nice addition to the artsy atmosphere on Harrison Street. My daughter takes a Jazz/Hip-Hop class that she really enjoys. I was a ballet girl, so I feel like her instruction is better preparation for the high school drill team than the concert stage, but that is just me being an old fuddy-duddy. You can drop in and pay for one class, or sign up for a series. A nice variety of classes for children, teens and adults -- In addition to jazz/hip-hop there is also ballet, tap, yoga and even belly dance (try it, it's fun). The space is small, but well-lit and airy. The mirrors are spaced panels and not the wall-to-wall type, so watching yourself and the instructor can be tricky if you aren't properly situated in the room.

I planned accordingly to return to work after a limited maternity leave. Less than a month before the expected start date, Lauren, the assistant director, emailed, casually mentioning that there wouldn't be space until 2 months later. We scrambled to make things work, and as we stayed in communication with them, they later postponed the start date ANOTHER 2 months. We ultimately had to scramble to find another center to enroll in at the last minute. I don't know whose job gives them the flexibility to take an extra 4 months of maternity leave. Definitely not mine. Despite not being able to honor the agreed start date, the center has REFUSED to refund our wait list deposit. Maybe this was an unreasonable response to an honest accident. Maybe it was an intentional act to manipulate us into making a deposit last year when they knew they would not be able to meet our needs. I'm not sure. But either way, I feel taken advantage of by people who I was ready to trust with the most important task of caring for my child. After this experience, I would not plan to enroll my baby here even if the space did open up, after seeing how poorly we were treated. I would not trust them to appropriately care for my child. To other parents and parents-to-be, if you are expecting reliable childcare to be available when you need it, I would look elsewhere. Please proceed with caution and at minimum, have a solid backup plan that you can enact at short notice for an extended period!

My youngest had the hardest time with separation, but his teachers made the transition so smooth that now he asks to see his first two teachers everyday and he walks in with no tears. My oldest two always come home with so many stories and love talking about the friends they have made. We definitely made the right choice when choosing Grand Ave for our childcare.
