I have always told everyone to come to Aurelio's then Gelsosomos for the buffet. The pizza is very good. I just came to say that the brunette, millennial girl with the pigtail braid on 4/24/26, during the lunch buffet isn't the best fit for customer service. She was standing in the kitchen, in the service window facing the bar. I asked her if dessert pizza was coming out soon, as I needed to get to my next appointment. She replied with "probably, if there isn't one in there there would be, as they always keep one in there." I've eaten here enough times to know that isn't accurate and if the kitchen doesn't know it's gone, they don't know to replace it. I would hate for her to have inconvenienced herself by turning her head to inquire. LOVE the pizza, not the lazy girl. read more

Had multiple choices of all different types of pizzas because we were there for wedding get together. Every selection was fantastic! Thin crust with many types of toppings all tasted great. Okay, so Macomb (where I got my undergrad and masters) had a Aurelio's for years that everyone loved. This all of a sudden, it closed. I had heard it was just changing names and a few other small things. To be fair though, Aurelio's wasn't Aurelio's. I have been to the ones in the Chicagoland, and they are all like Larry A's. Larry A is Aurelio. I went here last night, and I gotta say other than a slightly different sauce, and some decor changes, nothing had changes that I could tell. Still had the same weekly specials as Aurelio's did and ownership is the same. My fri en, and same everything elsd and I had the breadsticks and a pizza and everything tasted just the way I remember it tasting. Breadsticks were light and airy, and the pizza as I said was the exact same (or as far as I could tell). Service was still a bit iffy, but Aurelio's was never really known for its service. read more

Pretty disappointed with the service. Or pizza didn't arrive with all of the toppings we ordered and when we told our waitress (who didn't bother to check on us until we were ready for the check), she said, "Yeah, we usually just remove that ingredient." What? I also mentioned the situation to the server at the register and she said, "Oh that's weird, it should have come with that ingredient." No offer of a couple bucks off or a next-time-you-come-in discount. Just not very impressed. GBS were delish though! read more

Crown Point/Winfield is a community saturated with pizza houses. That being said, Gelsosomo's has become our favorite. Service is efficient and timely, the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting, and the pies are generous and the crust is crispy without being too thin or dry. Sauce is spiced just right. Ordered delivery which came fast. Pizza was cold and could have been cooked longer. They forgot our ranch dressing that we paid for, and they gave my one tiny side of dressing for my salad, which had two cherry tomatoes, two slices of cucumber, and a tiny sprinkle of olives & cheese. The Tommy G's Meatballs & Sausage Link came with about one tablespoon of sauce. I'm not sure why they give a loaf of bread unless it's to dip it in the sauce? The prices have also gone through the roof!! So expensive especially when they're skimping on ingredients. read more

Fun place to stop on our way south. They had free-standing ovens with glass doors that made it easy to choose which slice you wanted, self-serve type. It made for a fast lunch. I came to visit my daughter for the weekend, but we felt like just having food delivered and eating in. We were super impressed with the pizza, the tomato bread, and especially the chicken parm. Food was hot, and delivered before the time promised. Only one critique - spaghetti under the parm needed a bit more sauce, which we remedied by using the breadstick dipping marinara. The food, service and drinks left little to be desired. The menu looked promising but feel short in flavor. The drinks left us wondering if they forgot the alcohol in the drink and waiting on waiters when it was empty was ridiculous. Ordered take out Sunday night. Pizza was really good, but could have been warmer. I've also had the lunch buffet on another occasion. It was kind of hard for someone as short as me to see into the tall warmers. Also hard to balance your plate and try to maneuver a slice of pizza out with the other hand while having a group of hungry people waiting behind you watching your every move. read more

The only thing I ever purchased at the Macomb Aurelio's was their famous Spinach Pie. It was their signature pizza as far as I was concerned. Gelsosomo's has a "Popeye Pizza" which is nothing like it. I'm afraid it's spinachy, garlicky goodness is lost forever. Pizza is hit or miss; coincidentally we ate here tonight and last week. Last week the pizza was perfect. We could not wait to go again. Tonight the crust was under-cooked...the crust was not at all crispy...it was soft and not good. More disturbing, though, was an employee that kept walking by our table again and again and then turning around and walking away. We were not sure of his purpose...maybe he was checking for empty tables to bus dirty dishes. We did not see him actually do this. Most disturbing, was that the entire time we were there he had a toothpick sticking out of his mouth. I always hate to see this...it is kind of gross. read more

I have been going to Gelsosomos since they were Aurelios when I was young. They always had the best Pizza in town. Usually the wait staff and hosts go out of their way to give you the best service. Recently we have experienced a hostess on Fridays that is down right rude. Normally you are asked if you want a booth or table. Not this hostess. She tries to sit you at the worst tables then if you ask for a booth she is belligerent. One Friday we witnessed her seat a young family with 3 young children next to the back door. When they asked for a different table she angrily grabbed the menus and slammed them on another table. Clearly she should not be a hostess. She has no customer service skills whatsoever.
