She mentioned that they had won awards for their ice cream, and I believe she said that included an award for best chocolate ice cream in the region or maybe even in the country. After grabbing pizza elsewhere, my niece and I walked over to Dooley's. The wall was full of awards for all kinds of flavors. They let you taste the ice creams, and even though the chocolate was supposed to be the best, I saw they had passionfruit ice cream -- one of my favorite flavors of all time, so I tasted that. It was AMAZING. So much so that I ordered the passiongruit instead of the choolcate. I could eat that every day. My niece had blackberry ice cream and really liked it too. There wasn't much of a line when we were there around lunch-time on a Monday. Service moved quickly and with a smile, even when some people wanted to taste multiple flavors. If Dooley's were in my home town, I'd probably be at least 10 pounds heavier.

After dinner, we walked over to Dooley's Premium Ice Cream. They've won many awards for their…read moreflavours, which they proudly display all over their shop. Apparently, the count is at 378 awards and 30 trophies. We dropped in on a Wednesday evening (around 8:15pm). The inside is small but there's four seats outside to sit at. There's about 40 flavours to choose from (sorbet and gelato). Some unique ones were Vegemite and champagne sorbet. Price is a bit on the steeper side. $5.00 for 1 scoop, $8.00 for 2 scoops and $11.00 AUD for 3 scoops. The tubs are more on par with other ice cream shops ($12.00 AUD for 500ml and $22.00 AUD for 1L). Service is friendly and patient. They let us sample quite a few flavours; love how you can sample two at a time. - 500ml tub ($12.00 AUD) - their tubs are small pints of ice cream so when you get three flavours, they're layered on top of one another. Different from all the other ice cream/gelato spots. We went with chestnut (fantastic), lychee (fresh and fruity) and blood orange (a tad too sweet for my tastes). Definitely worth a stop on your GOR drive. Tasty, unique flavours.

Turkey sandwich was nicely toasted and porched eggs were perfrctly cooked. The hollandaise sauce was excellent as well. It would be nice to have a bed of green on the plate tho. The customer service was great, although I noticed the man behind the ice cream counter was a bit annoyed with people, I think maybe because no one knew what flavor ice cream they wanted, or maybe because I wanted to sample all the flavors. Either way I could see him whispering things under his breath which was off putting. But I still got the ice cream because how could you pass up the honeycomb ice cream?!?! The chocolates were available in all different varieties and forms. I was a little overwhelmed and felt like Charlie and the chocolate factory! I did end up spending 100 AUD for gifts to bring home... hopefully they travel well back to the states!!
