My tour bus stopped in this town for lunch during a day-long trip along the Great Ocean Road. The…read moretour guide gave us an oral run down of the options for lunch, and she was super enthusiastic about Dooley's for dessert. And OMG, was she right on point. She mentioned that they had won awards for their ice cream, and I believe she said that included an award for best chocolate ice cream in the region or maybe even in the country. After grabbing pizza elsewhere, my niece and I walked over to Dooley's. The wall was full of awards for all kinds of flavors. They let you taste the ice creams, and even though the chocolate was supposed to be the best, I saw they had passionfruit ice cream -- one of my favorite flavors of all time, so I tasted that. It was AMAZING. So much so that I ordered the passiongruit instead of the choolcate. I could eat that every day. My niece had blackberry ice cream and really liked it too. There wasn't much of a line when we were there around lunch-time on a Monday. Service moved quickly and with a smile, even when some people wanted to taste multiple flavors. If Dooley's were in my home town, I'd probably be at least 10 pounds heavier.

Apparently, the count is at 378 awards and 30 trophies. We dropped in on a Wednesday evening (around 8:15pm). The inside is small but there's four seats outside to sit at. There's about 40 flavours to choose from (sorbet and gelato). Some unique ones were Vegemite and champagne sorbet. Price is a bit on the steeper side. $5.00 for 1 scoop, $8.00 for 2 scoops and $11.00 AUD for 3 scoops. The tubs are more on par with other ice cream shops ($12.00 AUD for 500ml and $22.00 AUD for 1L). Service is friendly and patient. They let us sample quite a few flavours; love how you can sample two at a time. - 500ml tub ($12.00 AUD) - their tubs are small pints of ice cream so when you get three flavours, they're layered on top of one another. Different from all the other ice cream/gelato spots. We went with chestnut (fantastic), lychee (fresh and fruity) and blood orange (a tad too sweet for my tastes). Definitely worth a stop on your GOR drive. Tasty, unique flavours.

Well you guessed it, the scrambled eggs were delivered not as ordered but on top of the fruit toast. Who in their right mind would put the scrambled eggs on top of fruit toast? Ever after it was specified on the side. Well you might think that mistakes happen, and you would be right, so my wife went up to the counter to point out the error and spoke to a senior employee, pointing out the error, she huffed and snatched the plate without even apologizing. Well eventually her breakfast came out, the same senior staff member huffed and said "Is everything alright now?" We said yes, and would you believe it she then said "Thank God". How incredibly rude, when travelling you really don't need such an attitude, plenty of pleasant places to eat without an attitude. Won't be going there again.

These guys have either just started, or are just about to finish, running a cafe. They have no clue…read morewhat they are doing. The whole operation is very disorganised. The coffee is hit and miss. And it's no wonder, the poor bloke operating the coffee machine has to run coffees out to tables in between making them while the inept and personality deficient till operator struggles to take orders. Meanwhile, the "crepe chef" meanders about in the background doing his prep while customers queue up at the till and then move along for a painfully long wait for their average coffees. We didn't buy any seeds and had enough fun just watching other people playing with the birds. I had read that Grey River Road is a good place for wild koala sightings so we got back into our car and headed up the road. The car behind us was in a rush and we decided to let it pass. That car drove up the hill so fast that it ran over one of the beautiful birds that had been sitting on someone's shoulder just a few minutes before. All of the bystanders and us were in shock! The car didn't stop at all and kept driving up the road. After recovering the traumatic death of the bird, we pulled over to the side of the road and watched a coupe of koalas climb trees. They are such natural climbers!
