On the farm just before the Apostle Whey Cheese dairy, veal crates are in use. I enquired if they used veal crates on their farm (which I see as unnecessary and cruel) when I arrived to buy cheese last week. The woman was 'huffy', said she didn't know about the farms practices but didn't think they used them. I didn't buy any cheese. I wrote to the owners re my experience and this was their disgusting response . . . I have never heard any complaints from anyone about our staff or our farming practices ,if you were observant enough our farm is spotless and well presented and nobody would ever think that we didn't look after our stock in a similar manner,you may be blinded by your cause and blinkered in your views are you the same people that had live exports band which resulted in numerous suicides in the Northern Territory because hard working pastoralists and other busineeses went broke. My forbares came to Australia in far worst conditions in leaky timber boats. If they had plenty of food and water and air conditioned comfort like these cattle they would have been laughing. In future make your presence know to me and we will discuss the rights and wrongs of animal welfare people like you are unfortunately ignorant and make decisions on emotions rather than reality , we don't tolerate people that come here preaching their cause no matter what it may be. You know NOTHING about me, nor my ethics. For your information my parents and brother are farmers and I grew up on a farm. Nor do you no ANYTHING about what I choose to consume or not to consume (have you know cheese is one of my favourite foods). I was writing to you because I saw calves confined to tiny crates near your property - a practise I see as unnecessary and cruel. I enquired at the shop if these were your calves because I do not know where your property starts and ends. I have EVERY right to enquire where the food I shove down my gob comes from and how it is produced. This practice make me not ignorant, on the contrary it educates me. To be rude to me for making enquiries is disgraceful. I did not come to your dairy to preach - I came to buy some cheese!! I do not engage with folk like you, nor do I buy products from them. There was also a young couple in the shop who also left empty handed after over hearing our conversation. In the following 2 days we met and spoke with 2 couples who had ventured towards your property but turned around when they saw the veal crates (they had assumed they were yours).
