3 stars for trying. Driving along the highway and spotting signs pointing to Cheeseworld, I thought I was in for a cheese-tastic delight. Cheese. World. World meaning cheeses from all over in a giagantic space. Alas, back on Planet Earth, world meant small refrigerated room at the back of the convenience store where you can join an hourly cheese tasting of local Warranambool cheeses. My cheese heart shattered into a million tiny pieces. There's nothing fancy or "world-like" about the space but it did introduce me to a decent garlic and pepper Warranambool cheddar so that's something. My hot tip? Unless you absolutely need something from the store adjoining this, keep driving.

Underwhelming. I had been to this place before back in 2016, and the shop had more souvenirs and other food and cheese items for sale. I came here last weekend and the shop had a small selection of stuff and not much cheese. Most of it you can buy at the supermarket. The sandwich was alright, but the coffee was a little bitter. There wasn't a great focus on cheese, considering it's called Cheese World. I thought the menu would have more cheese dishes, but it was the same as any other cafe. This place is also cashless, so it is something to bear in mind when coming. I wouldn't recommend coming to cheese world though or the museum, which looked more like an antique shop. The menu and the venue could use a modern update. read more
I was so excited when I saw there was a Cheese World at the end of the Great Ocean Road cause well.. I love cheese! What a good way to explore some local Australian cheeses! We made the drive, about 30-40 mins or so from our last stop along the Great Ocean Road, The Bay of Islands - and this was going further from where we needed to be that night (which was in Melbourne). Now after actually going here, would I go out of my way to come back?! Probably not! It wasn't worth the detour before heading back to the city! We parked and there wasn't a whole lot of people there. They do produce all of their cheese right across the street, so you can see the dairy farm/cheese mills. There is a very very small cheese museum that they advertise, but no one was actually in there when we came. It looked like a cabin with old cheese machinery. Meh! As you enter the main building, I guess I was expecting a shop with lots and lots of cheeses.. I was expecting everything decked out in holiday fashion with cheese tastings and various jams, cheeses, and charcuterie you can try. But this place was just dead and definitely not festive. There was maybe a group or two sitting and eating lunch, looked like some older locals. The cheese section was literally two small fridge areas with pre-packaged cheeses that you would likely find at the grocery store. No amazing displays of blocks and blocks of cheeses that you could point out and try! They had a selection of maybe 10 cheeses all cut up into cubes that they'll let you taste. I really wasn't impressed with any of them that I tried. I was expecting so much more. The other section of the main building was a dining area - with a cafeteria style counter where you could order hot sandwiches, ice cream, or milk shakes. They had already closed the hot food area around 2pm (the place didn't close until 5pm). I ordered two cheese boards cause I was so disappointed with cheese world and needed my cheese fix anyways. Cheese was ok - boards weren't great - definitely don't expect your selections of fine salami/prosciutto! The sandwiches were ok as well - nothing seemed to wow me here. A lot of the store (like 90% of it) was definitely a gift shop selling random items such as sweets and honey, etc. I wouldn't recommend stopping here and I definitely wouldn't come back if I knew what it was! Not worth your trip or money! read more

I may just be a lonely tourist on the wrong side of the globe, but I thoroughly enjoyed my impromptu visit here. There was plenty of interesting documentation on the history of cheesemaking in Australia and plenty of dairy products to browse. The available cheese samples were downright delicious. I had to stop into a place with a name like Cheese World and it made my day much happier. read more
Well, here I was sitting in the back of my parent's car having just driven along the Great Ocean Road, and now there were endless paddocks to either side of us when out of the blue is this huge factory. Well, I have to say that in the years since nothing much has changed - there is still this huge factory in the middle of rolling fields, and across the road there is this place called 'Cheese World'. Mind you, when I actually decided to visit it earlier this year, and checked into the place, the cheese jokes suddenly came thick and fast (okay, I started it all off by saying that this place looked a little cheesy). Basically it is a factory outlet offering anything and everything cheese and dairy related. There is also a icecream stand, which I tried on a recommendation of a friend. You can also get wine, but then again what is cheese without a nice drop of red. There is also a museum out the back, but it is more a collection of farm stuff than anything else. read more

If you are interested in supporting local business this is the place to find local cheeses, preserves, seasonings, spreads, wines and condiments. Cheese tastings are offered regularly throughout the day. There is a cafe attached where meals, desserts and some pastries can be purchased. I had to try the salted caramel ice cream, it was Devine. Bought a range of local cheeses in there (5 to be exact) and their local water crackers. Had a great time sitting with my cheese platter read more

What a waste of time. 40mins drive from Port Fairy, and for what? Cheese tasting; cheddar cheese cut up on a couple of cheeseboards? CheeseWorld, or a glorified delicatessen? Coles supermarket is more of a cheeseWorld than this place. Disappointed! read more
