I loathe Geisinger, owned by Keiser Permanente. Go anywhere but Geisinger. This location just changed to what they call a "hop," and it's literally so that they can charge more money. Billing is the absolute worst. I just got a bill for $100, called them, they said part of it was for an MRI I had done over a year ago. Then she says did you pay anything then? I said, I'm sure I don't remember. She looks and then says "oh it looks like you prepaid $89 I'll move that over." So you're telling me I had $89 just sitting somewhere for over a year!?! Call your insurance and ask them what they think about Geisinger. Also, they now send you a bill before you even see your doctor, hoping that you will pay it. You're never gonna get any of that back even if you never owed it, unless you call them and try to get it back. I'm telling you they do it all the time. And if you ask them what the charge above and beyond your co-pay is, they say it's in case they do other things while you're there. Run. Anywhere but Geisinger!!! read more

Avoid this clinic like the plague. They cannot follow through with the most basic (but important) types of care even after messaging them for 4 days. They couldn't even document my information correctly and wrote that I am a smoker, which I am not. The reception area is just a few iPads. No one to greet you and provide assistance. I am planning on seeking care elsewhere now they have not provided necessary follow up for an appointment that was weeks ago. read more

I can not say enough good things about the oncology department. Every one here is professional and knowledgeable from the front desk to the actual Dr.s I have been seeing Dr Memon for 4 years he has guided and treated me with his professional knowledge. Even when I wanted a second opinion he supported that and getting the advice I wanted from John's Hopkins in Baltimore they reassured me that Dr memon was doing everything they would recommend. They also highly recommended the Geisinger Drs in Oncology at Geisinger here in state college. I am completely satisfied with all my care at Geisinger. Michelle read more

We have been Geisinger customers for over 20 years. Lately, when our family doctor (an MD) gives me a referral for a specialist (gastroenterology, ENT, etc.), Geisinger automatically schedules me only with nurse practitioners or, at best, a physician assistant. This is appalling. First, a referral for a specialist is always intended for a visit with an actual physician, an MD, not a nurse. Secondly, this undermines the role of the family doctor. Patients do not need a nurse to do triage, after one's own doctor has decided we need to see a specialist. Geisinger is shortchanging its customers and opening the door to huge liabilities. read more

Overall, the Geisinger system isn't all that great to be honest. However, Dr. Shane Newhouser at Scenery Park is probably the best doctor I've ever known. He's incredibly attentive, actively listening to every concern you have, and giving each of them great thought. I never feel rushed or judged when I see him. He always lets me take part in my care by offering a couple of different treatment options and letting me decide which one suits me best. He's very pleasant and very knowledgeable and I'm so happy to have him as my PCP! read more

Scheduled an appointment with Dr. Mainali as a new patient. Found the office staff to be less than courteous, particularly Mary, and Dr. Mainali made TWO errors in my prescriptions, including prescribing a hepatitis drug instead of a birth control pill. Three weeks later, this has yet to be resolved, nor have I received an apology or explanation for what was a very serious mistake. Yep, I'll be transferring my care to a Penn State medical group. read more

Dr Kathleen Schaeffer located at the Scenery Park office was extremely rude. She had originally seen me for neuralgia pain that became controlled with meds 5 years ago so my Primary care dr took over writing the RX she had prescribed for me. Since then I have switched my Primary care Dr and he would not refill someone else's med so the Pharmacy called her to refill it. She said she would not refill it without seeing me again. When I went in she scolded me and told me "this is a GP's (general practioners) job not mine! Why are you here anyway. You haven't been here for 5 years. These are not my problems anymore." Blah blah blah Stay away from this inconsiderate B___! I tried to explain to her I was having some other issues with passing out and she said, "Talk to your GP first." So basically even though I was in her office right then, she would not listen to anything I said. AND when she left the office; I didn't even know if the visit was over!!! I sat there until I realized "Nope, no one is coming back." so I left. read more

Very pleased with the scheduling, nurses, and doctors at this location. My husband, daughter, and myself all see different doctors but have never had any issues with the office. Good location also read more
