Hello, my name is Geo Garay. My wife and I have been with Geico for 10+ years. November of 2022 we added renter's insurance to our current residence, and upon receiving the bill we were surprised with how much our insurance went up, but we thought it was the insurance bundles in total. Then my wife's bank account went negative at the beginning of the next 2 months which i found odd since we're very good at budgeting, and when I went to check our statements on 1/24/23, I saw they had charged us separately for the rental insurance both times, and our premiumwent up by around forty dollars instead of down because "we bundled to save money" as per their advertisement. When I called to ask about this I talked with an insurance agent named Richard. Richard first complimented us profusely on our driving record, having no claims, late payments, or accidents for 10+ years etc, then abruptly tells us, and I'm quoting him directly, that "Because so many other people filed claims we raised you're premium by 30%". I asked how that was fair and he said we just had "bad timing". I wish with all my heart I had a recording device on my cell phone to catch all he said but unfortunately I did not. I am on disability for a congenital heart defect that took three surgeries to correct, and my daughter was diagnosed with level 3 autism with severe speech and global developmental delays last August. We are basically living paycheck to paycheck. I honestly feel like we're being taken advantage of by this company, and I was advised by the first attorney's office I contacted to try and find a "bad faith" or "breach of contract" insurance attorney. I've already contacted the better business bureau with my complaint, as well as what I believe to be the geico corporate number. If we have to take this to court I don't want to do it just to get money, I am standing up for my family in the face of what I can only describe as predatory behavior from a national company. read more
