I have known the Gee family for well over 10 years personally. I live overseas and and made an appointment for my brows to be done and attended the appointment and on this occasion received great service. While there, I scheduled an appointment for a facial, and explained that I would be back in Toronto and spoke to the facialist at length about what we would do on that appointment. I left my CC to secure the appt. I received a text confirmation AND email confirmation as well as a form to fill out prior to the appointment as well as a note that cancellations less than 24 hours prior to appt would result in being charged for the cost of the appt. I have no issue with this. Today on March 3, less than one hour before my confirmed appointment I got a call from Gee Beauty explaining they needed to cancel the appointment, with no reason, couldn't offer a new rescheduled appointment, didn't offer an alternative time, or day and when I questioned why and how they can do this but charge their customers when they cancel- the person hung up on me. I called back twice and my calls went straight to voicemail. I left a voicemail- no reply, I then called later the same day and Sarah picked up, I explained the situation and asked about the poor service and she hung up on me. So AVOID GEE BEAUTY - a once amazing, customer centric family run business is now being run by a bunch of ignorant, deplorable, rude and entitled kids that hang up on clients. Take your $300 and spend it anywhere else for a facial. NO one deserves to be treated like that. read more

I do jot have a credit card (not everybody does. My card has been changed multiple times due to unauthorized usage. As a result, I stopped using them all together). I live in different province but thought that I would try Gee Beauty. I asked if they would accept PayPal or E-transfer and I was told NO. I have never had a store refuse me an E-transfer before. I guess we are not all in this together. Lucky, The Detox Market Canada does take PayPal. I hope that others can understand my frustrations with Gee Beauty and think twice before purchasing. In Ontario, you have so many upscale beauty shops from which you can purchase skincare. Think about that Gee Beauty. read more

My sister was supposed to get her wedding makeup done here a while back. We went together so that she could have a trial. My sister is familiar with makeup and has a simple routine. She told the makeup artist this several times. Keep it light, fresh and dewy with a nude lip. Ok so, I have no idea if the makeup artist purposely didn't listen or if she just didn't know how to do makeup, but my sister looked like a CLOWN. A literal, actual CLOWN. She gave her THICK BLACK EYEBROWS. My sister is chestnut brown. It was NOT wedding makeup - it wasn't even makeup for a stripper. I almost thought it was a joke. Her face was heavily, heavily contoured with a burgundy-brown lip. How do you put burgundy lipstick on when someone asks for nude? All the employees were telling her how beautiful she looked. Are you nuts or actually that daft? My sister left in tears and she ended up doing her own makeup for her wedding. Neither of us have ever been so disappointed in a service. This is what you get in Rosedale? Nice. Nobody listened to my sister. Nobody took what she wanted into consideration. She looked like a monster. I'm not exaggerating. We still have a gift card of almost $100 because we had intended on doing her actual wedding day makeup there and I thought it would be a nice gift to give her. Thank GOD we did the trial. Can you imagine she waited until her wedding day? Will never go back. Do NOT recommend. read more

I had my makeup done here for an engagement party and I was not disappointed! It was top-notch service from the moment I walked in. The staff (and even the other ladies shopping) made me feel right at home - as if I was going there for years. Before makeup, Jessica (the store manager who was fantastic!) talked to me a bit about my skin, and did an entire skincare routine to prep my skin. She also gave me free samples of the products she used, which did an incredible job addressing my skin concerns. I didn't quite know the look I was going for, so I let Jessica follow her "vision" for my makeup and it couldn't have turned out better. I have no words for how happy I am - she accentuated all my best features and made me look (and feel) amazing. Thank you for such a great experience. I went to Gee Beauty for the first time today for a brow consult and correction and I loved it! I was so happy to finally find a shop in Toronto that offers the same kind of high end experience that exists at top salons/spas in NYC and Miami. The space is chic, service is timely and impeccable, and my brow artist (Kiran) was skillful. Happy to see a place like this exists in Toronto and will definitely return. Reading through the reviews I was surprised to see the negative reviews are recommended by Yelp but the majority of positive ones are 'not recommended.' As someone who regularly travels and goes to some of the best spas/salons globally, I have no hesitation in recommending Gee Beauty for brows. read more

I only give one star because they have a slight redemption of carrying White and Warren cashmere which are INCREDIBLE pieces and kind of hard to find (they had a few sweaters, gloves, a wrap and that is more than I've ever seen in other stores on Queen St in Toronto, let alone in Yorkville, Toronto). Otherwise, if you don't have the prerequisite "I'm-so-rich-I-sound-like-a-bored-valley-girl" accent, with the UGG boots, diamond earrings, blonde bleached hair, and general air of snootiness, don't bother coming in here. Nary a single 'Hello' was uttered, I was completely ignored while they kissed ass of an older lady and her "I'm-so-rich-I-sound-like-a-bored-valley-girl" daughter who were apparently buying gifts for their family. Looked like they had cute toiletries from Le Labo, but I am not into shower gels or soaps, so I passed on all that. (Go Yu-Be Cream!!!) Sort of rude and snooty. I wouldn't want to spend my money there. My guess is that they don't need to be nice to customers because they sell to their own friends and daughters who are rich, and don't care if the business is in the black or the red -- it's just a hobby. read more

I'm not gonna lie. I went to Gee Beauty for my brows after I saw Natalie on a reality TV show. Ya, that's how I roll. I needed threading because I was on a medication that made waxing impossible (as in it would have ripped my skin off... attractive) and when I told Natalie what my needs were, she was responsive and pleasant. I also told her that my last experience was with an Persian woman who charged $10 but removed a good 75% of my eyebrows. I've always been happy with my brows and I have since had other treatments, including a facial and underarm waxing. The women that work there are awesome (Sabrina the receiptionist especially), and I have never been unhappy with a service. All I can say to some of the reviewers here is "Judge not, lest ye be judged." Ironic coming from an atheist, I know, but even Biblical sayings have universal truth. So you've been to Gee and felt "out of place." So... were you MADE to feel that way or did you put that on yourself? I am like the least fashionable person I know. I show up there in yoga pants and a bandana in my hair. I am fat and I ride a scooter. Don't think for a second that the Gee chix give you or your outfit a second thought. I am always treated with kindness when I walk in the doors, but that's probably because I rock. read more

Since moving to town three months ago I had not so much as plucked a single hair from my brow. It was getting scary and I determined this was definitely a job for a professional. Leery of neon signs advertising salon services on every corner I turned to the web to find somewhere reputable, but not completely out of my price range. I stumbled upon Gee Beauty - a chic, contemporary salon and beauty supply store owned and operated by a mother and daughter team in Rosedale. They were closed a few days recently for a renovation/expansion (I could still smell fresh paint when I was there). The decor is a classic, clean black & white. I was early to my appointment and passed the waiting time by sitting on the large and comfortable bay window seat at the front of the store with a selection of straight-from-the-racks magazines (am I the only one that absolutely hates flipping through last season's - or worse, last year's - mags in waiting rooms?) I had never done "threading" before, but I'm pretty sold on the process. Yes, it hurt a fair bit (as opposed to the quick pain of waxing it was like slowing ripping a band-aid off) and the tissue I was provided was covered in mascara streaks by the time it was over, but the after effects made it well worth it; I have very sensitive skin and a typical wax will leave me tender and pink for nearly a week. By the time I got home, any lingering redness was gone and the area was totally pain free. I got a brochure of their other services (including a separate and very humorous one that is solely devoted to "down under" maintenance) and will definitely use them again in the future. read more

Not sure why the reviews are so low here but I've had great experiences here. I came here for a Makeup Masterclass with Emily, and walked away with tips that I still use to this day. I come back to Gee Beauty once every month to get my brows done as well- had about 3 different people do it, and it's been a consistent experience across the board! I've been to several other spots to do my brows and nobody gets it right- but when I come here and have a different person do it everytime- it's been the same result. I wasn't someone who was into natural looks, but Gee Beauty has taught me otherwise and I highly recommend Gee to those looking to enhance their natural beauty. I had shopped online a few times and decided to try getting my brows tinted and threaded here by Christina. She was AWESOME and I left feeling like a new woman. The girl who checked me in was sweet as were the other staff I happened to interact with - but I have been in here before and will agree with some of the reviews that it can be a bit uncomfortable. But I didn't let it get to me and I showed up like a bum coz I had just gotten a spray tan and didn't feel judged at all. I'll definitely be going back every month for the brow service! read more

over rated, over rated over rated! I have had my eyebrows threaded before, I'm a stickler when it comes to my brows, they are plucked to Vogue- perfection. Curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to give Gee-beauty a go.....regularly i pay $10 for threading eyebrows, what would I get for their advertised price of $24.... Walking in I instantly felt out of place, i guess it was my rain-soaked hair, my last season's fall boots and un-Prada handbag! As a new customer, I was ceremoniously given a tour of the place...it is beautiful, ill give them that and justifies the exorbitantly over priced service. Eyebrows were done in neck breaking speed, the lady who did them then tried to sell me eyebrow gel to hold the stray hairs in place [why didn't she just pluck them out???] Nothing special about the service, way over priced & it helps if you own a designer handbag, you wont feel so out of place there. read more

I have to agree with some of the comments on here. As soon as I walked in, it was extremely noisy, a little disorganized and there was this "higher than though" attitude that I really got turned off by. It also took a while for someone to actually acknowledge I was there and check me in for my appointment. The appointment was on time, the facial was fine (wasn't impressed or blown out of the water, but wasn't disappointed). It seemed like the esthetician was more concerned to sell me products than address my questions/concerns about my skin in general. I got the Ultimate Oxygen which really involved maybe FIVE minutes of actually using the O2 machine. Rest of the time was putting on/off masks and a quick massage. Not sure if it was worth it really. Probably won't be going back - just didn't get a warm vibe to be honest. Plus I'm really not like any of their regular clientele, that's just not my scene. I agree with most of these comments here....over rated and the ladies seem very high on themselves....not sincere people at all. Threading is not a high level skill so I didn't understand what the fuss was about so I decided to try it myself since I had been threading over 6 years now. My experience at Gee Beauty is always warm and welcoming. Natalie consistently does an amazing job on my unruly brows. She pays great attention to detail, and takes the time to conceal any redness at the end. I have also gone into the studio for help with my skin. The girls listen to my issues, make suggestions, and give me options of products to choose from that suit my needs. Additionally, they often give me samples and tell me to try things out before I purchase them to ensure I like the effects. Honestly, the whole experience is vibrant, positive, and personal, and I always feel taken care of (even when it's busy). read more

I was in Gee Beauty today and I had a very pleasant experience. I went to go pick up some perfume in their store and was greeted by a very friendly attendant who was pleasant to speak with and super nice. I had to use the bathroom so I went next door (Gee Beauty) where the treatments are done. I was approached and welcomed and even complimented by a really nice woman who guided me to the bathroom and went out of her way to say hi and bye! I felt really nice and positive and even though I didn't buy anything from the beauty salon part, I felt so good I bought a dress from their store. Each individuals experience is relative and a good part of that is what state our mind is in. When I read these reviews I was some what guarded and already played out my experience in my mind but I fooled myself because my experience turned out to be the complete opposite and it set the tone for my day. I think you have to feel positive and good about yourself first. The external environment will always change and it's your choice to make your experience negative or positive. People on here have made some pretty nasty comments and what's sad is that THEY are the ones who are being judgmental and assuming that the ladies here have a certain attitude. I'm a little surprised with previous reviews. For people feeling like they didn't belong or didn't feel welcome, maybe that's just because you didn't have "the look" or "the bag" when you walked in... I've never been in the store before but heard great things about it from my clients and my coworkers. I walked in, wearing my work scrubs (covered in dog hair) my own hair needed some work - oh and I had a dog. The place was hustling bustling very busy, the customers in the store were smiling and it appeared they had a relationship and were very comfortable with the person helping them/stylist. Whatever. When the cash was busy and I was standing behind a lady being helped (comfortably sitting in a chair maybe having a consultation? possibly) the owner came over and asked if I needed any help today! She said hello to my cute little dog and I told her I just needed a gift for my friend and could she help me. My friend comes in here a lot, and I knew the owner knew who she was... I told her my friends name and asked if she knows what she would like, he owner said they don't give out other clients information (actually. That's great, because come to think about it I wouldn't want my beauty stylist telling everyone what I buy... Or where I get waxed) so we decided on a gift card, she asked how I was going to pay, I told her cash... So I skipped the line, gave her the cash while she got a gorgeous bag ready for me, with a lovely gift card, nice bag and tissue paper. Some might think it was a little excessive but presentation is important and it appears like it is something they take pride in, the presentation so that was ok with me Some of the products were a little out of my price range for a small face cream but the ingredients were great and if you want good products sometimes it's a higher price. I DEFINITELY did not look "the part" as other people on here are talking about, in my dog hair scrubs and puppy coming with me, I still felt very comfortable and at home and would absolutely come back. I have read some of the reviews about Gee and it seems more like the reviewers are writing about their own insecurities more than that actual spa. I have been going to Gee for years and believe me i show up in muddy dog walking clothes and old boots and am always treated well. Nor am I rich and skinny. I work hard and often show up last minute- they always fit me in. I never feel pressured to buy things but the things i buy there (eyeliner, self tanner, jewelry) are all amazing. During TIFF when i have to attend a number of things day after day, they do my makeup and are always genuinely interested in what i have going on. I love Gee beauty and I am glad we have a place like this in the 'hood. read more

This place is the ultimate escape for those of us looking for a luxury experience in the downtown area. It's adorable, impeccably clean, and chic. The line of products they carry here can't even be found elsewhere in Toronto, and the ladies here are always happy to give me a sample of anything I want to try. The staff here is professional and incredibly sweet. As soon as I arrived for my service I was promptly checked in and offered a fresh glass of water. As I waited for my technician to prep for my facial, I was offered a sample of this amazing Rodin mask that I had wanted to try for a while. So happy I tried it, because I ended up buying the full size a few days later! If you haven't tried this place, you're really missing out!! I will never go ANYWHERE else for brows or facials. If it's your first time here you have to have your brows done, or try the Ultimate Oxygen facial. It's just magical!!! read more

My eyebrows got fucked up big time and now people stare rudely at me . I'm forced to get a hair cut with bangs so I can regrow my eyebrows. What the fuck. Professional eyebrow shapers have ruined my eyebrows twice now. Looking at these reviews, I thought this place could save my eyebrows, instead they're awful. Is it so hard to get eyebrows done right!? I want perfect eyebrows, not too low, not too high and not wonky. Can anyone recommend a PROFESSIONAL eyebrow shaper in Toronto, remember the one from Oprah? Someone with talent like that would be amazing! Went here with four other girlfriends to have our makeup done before an evening out. The staff (with the exception of one woman) were incredibly rude and unprofessional. Given the amount of money I paid for this service, I would have thought the person doing my make up could engage in conversation and give me a few tips or comments about what she was doing, but she refused saying that wasn't what I paid for. Felt pressured into buying a few of their overpriced products and wish I hadn't -- the lipgloss leaked all over my purse despite putting the lid on tightly and the lid on the eyeliner I purchased was glued shut. I keep meaning to swing by there to replace it, but honestly can't be bothered. I did notice a few "regulars" stopped in during my service and they were treated with a very different attitude. Seriously, go elsewhere. There are many better places to go in this city. read more
