I walked into Geddes for a haircut. My hair was all the same length - nearly to my waist - very fine and naturally straight. I requested a long layered cut that did not require styling as my hair doesn't hold it. The only stylist available was Reanne who informed me that her fee for a haircut would be £45.00. I replied that the cost was not an issue as I really wanted someone experienced to give me a good cut. Please, refer to the pic attached for comments. When I complained in writing that the haircut was done without skills nor care, this is what a person by the name of Simon Cartlidge who was NOT PRESENT at the time and NEVER asked me to pop in the salon for an opinion wrote to me: If a long fringe isn't styled, it is going to fall into the eyes unless the hairline is such that it naturally keeps the hair off the face. Both Olivia and Reanne say they tried to explain this to you but you were unwilling to listen. They both found your behaviour and reaction to be totally disproportionate and unreasonable. Our other team members also said they were shocked by your behaviour as they could see Reanne was being obstructed from finishing the haircut. I'm satisfied Reanne behaved professionally throughout the time you were in the salon and that she gave you the best haircut she could do on the information available. I feel she should be compensated for the work she carried out as should we, the salon owners. Bunch of liars!!! The cut was finished as the Master stylist started drying my hair. IT WAS THEN WHEN I ASKED THE MASTER IF THE CUT WAS FINISHED AND SHE REPLIED THAT IT WAS. When I pointed out to her that I could not see as the hair was falling into my eyes ( I then asked for a hairclip in order to clip my hair off the eyes) I noticed that a member of staff was laughing at me. I even said to her to carry on laughing as she clearly found the cut hilarious. Bad luck and bad karma to Geddes and to the staff who lied about me saying that I was pulling my hair and that I behaved in a disproportionate and unreasonable manner. At least 3 years worth of hair growth has been chopped off and without a style to show for. Sooner or later good, old karma will catch up with you and you won't be able to lie your ways out of your incompetence and un-professionalism as you did with me. read more

I couldn't believe it as I have had colour and cuts from experienced hairdressers and this has been such a relief for someone to listen and bring my vision to real life! All I can say is recommend! This is my local salon and I have been maybe 6 or 7 times over the last three years, mainly for highlights and hair cuts. My first visit was wonderful lovely colour and great cut, as was the second visit. Things have gotten worse and the last few times I have felt quite disappointed with the service and the skill of the staff. When the owners are in it's brilliant but when they're not then it's just not so good. There seems to be such a high turnover of staff and the service you receive is therefore inconsistent. I used to be able to feel confident that I would leave feeling happy about what had been done to my hair now I just never know I'll keep trying hoping that it will become the place it once was read more

Had a really good experience at this salon. I went 2 days ago for the first time. Fantastic head massage-the best I ever had ;) The hairdresser knew what she was doing. Lovely, friendly and professional. Really nice premises. They use Aveda products so my hair smelled divine. Did my hair, (Head massage, wash,cut and blow dry) for a Xmas do where I had compliments, which is what you want :) Very reasonable price just under £40. I used to go to a salon in central London, where I used to pay almost twice the price, but favourite hairdresser moved on and have been looking for my new hairdresser. Looks like I found them! So glad they are local. Cannot recommend them enough. read more

Pure heaven!! I booked in for a full body massage the day after running the 26.2 miles in the Brighton marathon. I have never enjoyed such a relaxing,luxurious and blissful massage! As soon as walked in to room I was stunned, dimmed lights, relaxing music, candles and a heated bed.. The atmosphere was perfect! The massage was amazing!! It got rid of all my aches and pains . Such attention given to every part as well as a head massage.. by the end I was so relaxed I just wanted to sleep there!! The staff are so lovely and Friendly. Slightly pricey for a suburban salon - around £40 for a lady's wash, cut and blow dry. But, the service is so friendly that I don't mind overlooking this, especially because it's on my doorstep! Modern, sophisticated interior and fab, professional results of the calibre you'd expect from a household-name salon. There's also beauty treatments, massage and gift packages available, and they often do "recommend a friend" schemes which wangle you 50% off - making it a bargain to boot! Friendly salon with a fabulous shiatsu head massage, but then it goes downhill. I've tried several stylists at this salon and have usually left disspointed with my cut. I kept going as it was so convenient and a decent price. My last attempt was the last straw. I came away with the most ridiculously uneven layers, some of which were cut above my ears (I have long hair!). I've had to go to another salon for an emergency cut to even it up. She was astounded at the state of my haircut. Have finally learnt my lesson and shan't be returning. Shame. read more

Booked myself in for a massage to ease shoulder pain and as a treat. Not cheap at £40 for 45 mins. After cancelling my original appointment they offered me 50% off to reschedule for a week later. On paying they failed to honour their offer. Annoyed and feeling short changed I checked my phone on the way home only to see I'd only been there 30 mins including the time to dress and pay. I have had numerous beauty treatments and I get my hair done there regularly. Never had a problem and I feel the customer service is great. It's by far the best salon in the local area and people I know come quite a distance to use it regularly. read more

Such a brilliant Salon!! Salons can be really pretentious and so often stylists don't really listen to what you want! This Salon however, has friendly staff, with a really good vibe, you always get a consultation before they even start washing your hair, the stylists listen, advise and seriously deliver the results!! I have been here three times and all times extremely pleased with the service and hair cut. I see lolly who is great, the shiatsu massages are lovely and reasonable price too. Last haircut was great, just let her know the length and she re styled it. Highly recommended but do book in advance as rarely available to book on the day. read more

I have been to this salon a couple of times. The first haircut was great, the second was shockingly bad. They were the same level stylists, but I ended up with the weirdest layers I'd ever seen after just going in for a trim! I had to then go to another salon to get it sorted out which cost me a further £65ouch. read more
