UPDATE: NEW LOCATION ALERT…read more This Crossfit box/gym is now located at 151 N. Jefferson Ave., Port Allen. Larger facility, better location, more space for activities, separate area for childcare (Though I'm not positive childcare is always provided - might want to call ahead for that) Still top-notch workout regime from a very attentive staff. ---- Original review: I've been coming to Levee Crossfit for a couple years now, so I may be slightly biased, but the classes here are absolutely top notch. Dain always comes up with a new Workout Of the Day, and what separates this Crossfit Box is the utilization of the levee at least once per week for workouts. In terms of the facility, it's a work in progress. Pretty small and not your typical gym, but that's pretty normal for a Crossfit box (gym). But there's normally a decent amount of great people, young and old, men and women, black and white, that you workout with, which can truly motivate you to do your best every rep, and keep you wanting to come back even through the pain of the work. If you're looking for a place to work out, especially if you're looking for something on the West side of the Mississippi River, I highly recommend Levee Crossfit. It'll get you right and keep you right.

At first I was a little skeptical and intimidated by the whole CrossFit idea, thinking that everybody is super good compiting against time and each other. As a beginner in CrossFit, I didn't have idea what to expect or what to do, and I appreciate the fact that Dain, (the owner and trainer) takes the time to instruct beginners and change the rutine adjusting it to your specific need. - There is private parking in the new location. - They have a class starting every hour from 5:00am - 9:00am, at 12:30pm, and in the evenings from 4:30pm - 6:30pm Saturday there is only a class at 8:00am. - First class is FREE! - There is a restroom where you can clean yourself in case you have something to do after workout. - They have a small shop with CrossFit wearing and some other things. - Often there are offers/discounts for subscriptions (anual and monthly).. ask! - Don't spect a super fancy facility. Remember that this is CrossFit place... but the equipment is in good conditions, and there's enough for the people in classes, they have a spacious room, so people can grab equipment and do whatever they have to. The place is good and clean, but not fancy. - Be ready to sweat!!

While i love many types of fitness, CrossFit is by far my favorite. It can be scaled to all levels, you get a LOT done in an hours time (warmup, mobility, high intensity workout.) Even those with injuries or obstacles can almost always modify with something else. If you can't run you can get on a bike or tower, if you can't do box jumps you can do step ups. There is always a way to modify. Everyone here is very nice and the trainers are great. The group atmosphere is great for community and it helps you push yourself. When doing any types of high intensity training you should always talk to your doctor first and listen to your body always. I highly recommend this gym and their prices compared to other CrossFit boxes can't be beat! Oh and the owner is a firefighter so it's nice to have first responders in the building at all times. Love this place!

It is a very relaxed place where you feel comfortable asking questions and you always receive great and helpful information in return! While it is a relaxed and comfortable environment, it is by no means relaxed during the workouts!!! The trainers are amazing when it comes to motivating you to get through a workout and do your best. I can't wait to do my next 6 week challenge with them. Throughout my first two 6 week challenges, I lost 60 pounds and 22.3 inches and I can honestly say I couldn't have done it without this gym!

It's a great combination of cardio and strength, with a lot more switching than orange theory so you actually can keep your heart rate up more, and those of us without much cardiovascular endurance can push harder. It also lacks the obnoxiously in your face trainers of orange theory, which I cannot emphasize enough how much I appreciate. I might not be the best runner, but I am perfectly capable of working out as hard as I can without someone pushing my to injure myself. The instructors at tread are amazing at encouraging you to work hard and keep improving while recognising that every day isn't always our best day. The classes are a little pricey, but everyone should give this a try. It's definitely worth it.

I joined Evolve for a month because I was curious about reformer pilates and the studio is super…read moreconvenient to my work and home. I took 20 classes in 30 days, and tried all except the hot yoga. PROS: -Beautiful studio! The space is gorgeous and clean with lots of natural light in the pilates area and fun neon lights in the HIIT class area. -Great selection of classes and times to choose from. -The classes themselves are wonderful- HIIT ranged in difficulty and the pilates was always fantastic. -Low sugar plant-based smoothie menu was awesome. CONS: -Customer service- This was my biggest problem with the studio. I was rarely greeted or acknowledged when entering the studio or when leaving. Entire classes went by when I was not acknowledged at all. It was a very cold/unwelcoming environment. I felt incredibly out of place and always left feeling kind of...sad. There was just one instructor who actually learned my name and was friendly to me, and I took multiple classes from her (she was great). After I joined the studio I never got a "tour" / nobody showed me around or told me what to expect from different classes. I was left on my own to figure it out. I have tried lots of studios around town so felt mostly comfortable in the classes but if I was new to this type of exercise, I would be totally lost. -Price- I paid a little over $200 for a new member special 30 day deal. That gets you one (just one!) class per day. There were times I wanted to do a HIIT class in the morning and check out a hot yoga class in the evening but I was not willing to pay an additional $25 to double up. There *are* 75 minute HIIT/Pilates combo classes, though. -No private bathroom area/locker room. The bathroom area is shared with whatever business is down the hall. It's a typical office building bathroom situation- no hooks on bathroom stall doors or surface to put down a bag. Not convenient for the days I had to change after work. No bowls of hair ties/tampons or dry shampoo like every other studio I've been to has. Overall, with a more welcoming vibe and the option to double up on classes, I'd come back. Otherwise there are plenty of other studios around town that offer the same workouts with a better atmosphere, and for a better price.

Several of my friends go to Luke and I decided to give him a try. I'm almost three months in and I haven't felt this good in years. There are a couple of exercises that just don't feel good on my lower back so he changed the exercise to something that won't hurt me. I have arthritis too and I have gained strength and I have less pain and tightness in my joints. I tried a group work out that day and loved learning some new exercises with kettlebells that I had never tried before- that's saying a lot because I've tried just about every fitness trend and many, many studios all over Baton Rouge. Virtue's method is one of a kind! I recently signed up for my second month and I've already noticed gains in my strength and muscle, from working out just 3-4x per week. The workouts are never the same, and are always perfectly challenging, but with modifications if I need them. Coaches Luke, Charlotte, and Phil are outstanding! Side note: I had no concept of humidity and the effects of such on the human body, so that was an environmental shock. I walked in and was immediately greeted by athletes waiting to join the class I wanted to drop in on and watched the prior class kick booty. My schedule had changed last minute so I didn't get a proper chance to alert the coaches to my drop in request. Just an email late the night before. I hoped to join, seeing as how my pre booked cab was coming to get me in about an hour anyway. Coach Lauren let me into the class after a waiver sign and we got started. Not but 2 minutes into the warmup my tank top was clinging to my skin like snot to a kids nose. I was drenched in sweat. Why is the south so sweaty hot?! Clearly a California girl, the rest of the class were maybe mildly glistening, if that at all. I loved the workout and everyone was super nice. I had a great partner for the workout and honestly, it's women like Allie are the reason I love CrossFit and the community. Strong, beautiful, amazingly nice and just inspiring. She and other strong women there are the future to turning the saying "like a girl" into something totally different. The facilities were great! Nice high rope climb suitable ceilings, a whole separate room full of platforms just for lifting (*drool*), great people, awesome vibe, nice little athlete chillout area with couch, clean bathrooms, organized and intelligent programming! The address does make it seem like they are off the main street but they are in the back of the building. I had a great time, and I'm kind of hoping to go back and workout with Red Stick athletes again. When is it not humid?
