Greg did an amazing job restoring the electric to our garage. I would highly recommend him.

Greg has done multiple projects in our home and we couldn't be more pleased. His work is top notch and he is always honest. I had him out today and he told me what I was looking at i so wasn't worth it at this time unless I really wanted to spend the money. Look no further than Greg, he is the best. read more

1st Time w Greg in 2013, he installed an electric vehicle charger. Perfect job. 2nd Time with Greg in 2020 With work from home being mandated we needed strong internet throughout. Greg ran ethernet cabling throughout our house as wired PC connections are best and furthermore relocated our router to the center of the house in order to get the strongest signals for all wireless devices in every corner. No dead spots. Thanks Greg!! read more

From the minute I sent out the job quote request, It's been a pleasure to work with Greg from GDM. Greg immediately replied to my request, he communicated with me very clearly and with details. Even though he was very booked and busy, Greg made time to come out to my house on the date and time that he promised. Greg removed our old bathroom ceiling fan and replaced it with a new fan that we provided. Greg did a super clean job, he was mindful of our home going in and out of the house. He did a perfect job installing the fan and made some useful recommendations on how it should be hooked up. The charge for the task was very fair and competitive. Greg has now become our go-to electrician. We thank Greg from GDM for doing an outstanding job. read more

Very responsive. We needed additional outlets installed before starting another project and Greg was able to get the work completed within days of our contacting him. read more

We have had quite a bit of work done in our home (both DIY and hiring professionals), and this was by far the best experience. Greg installed recessed lighting, over the counter pendant lighting, and under cabinet lighting. His communication was clear, timely, and transparent. He arrived on time and finished earlier than expected. He carefully covered all furniture and countertops, was friendly with our dogs, and cleaned up everything before leaving. Greg was also attentive to detail and asked about our preferences. Most importantly, the work was done so well - we are thrilled with the results - and the cost very reasonable. Thank you, Greg! read more

Greg's work and professionalism is beyond amazing. He came out to my condo a few hours after I called to get an estimate. After hearing his quote and the time it would take to complete the work, I immediately booked him. The day of installation went so smoothly. He was right on time and had everything with him to get started right away. He installed a ceiling fixture and recessed lighting where there was previously no lighting in just 3.5 hours! This definitely wasn't something easy to do considering that I live in a first floor condo. The most amazing part was that he was able to install the recessed lighting without cutting into the drywall. After finishing, he cleaned up and offered to help move back furniture. I paid exactly what he had estimated. No hidden charges. Greg truly is the go-to professional that I would recommend to anyone. read more

GDM Electric - Canned lighting in a room that previously had no ceiling lights! Added bonus: no damage to the walls or ceilings. - Electricians Near Me

During a recent windstorm, a panel door covering an outdoor circuit breaker box fell off. This presented a hazardous situation. One rain or snowstorm could have resulted in serious damage. After reading Yelp reviews, I called upon Greg at GDM Electric to give me a quote. I sent him some photos and the location of the box. Within 10 minutes he quoted me a very fair price, which I agreed to, and within 20 minutes he was at the scene making the repair. This was on a Saturday! Highly recommended! read more

Greg responded to my request for a quote within 20 minutes. He came out the next day to look the job over. I had him provide a quote for two jobs, which he did, but we decided to just go with one at this time. When we told him about the change, he had no problem and kept the quote for the first job the same. Greg came out the following Monday promptly at 8:00 AM as promised. Greg was prompt, very professional and did a great job. I would definitely use Greg again for our other projects and would highly recommend him to others who need a great electrician. read more

We had a bunch of electrical work we wanted in my parent's house and wanted to get a few different quotes. Greg was not only the first to respond to my request, he was the first to come to the house. What I really appreciated was that he was on time, great to deal with and patient in answering all our questions. In the end we just ended up using him without really getting other quotes. Not only was he knowledgeable about the things that we needed doing, he was the fastest in responding. PLUS he could do the work right away and my dad wanted it done ASAP. We got a quote from him the same afternoon and went ahead with the upgrades. New lighting fixtures in the back part of the basement and outlets changed throughout the house. My husband later saw the work he did and said that Greg had done a really good job with putting in the lights for the basement. We would definitely use Greg again without hesitation. You won't regret utilizing his services for any electrical work you need! read more

We had a nice but very high ceiling chandelier that shorted out. After requesting a quote, Greg quickly responded asking to first set up an inspection to determine the extent of work required. I appreciated the honesty versus just throwing out a low number only to have it end up being much higher. Thankfully he was able to fit us in quickly. Not only did he do a thorough job inspecting the various switch points and connections, he went through and tested each individual light in the chandelier to identify the source of the problem. He then went out to the store to buy replacement parts he felt would fix the issue, and it did! This is service that the big electric shops rarely do or add on a big charge. So Greg not only identified the problem but fixed right away, which I wasn't expecting. In addition Greg agreed to replace a few outside lights and install new updated timers, a nuisance issue we are thankful to have addressed. Greg is super helpful, and cares about his craft and doing the job right. I have finally found an electrician that will be used any time a need comes up, and one you should feel comfortable using too. read more

Greg was fantastic to work with! He was prompt in his response to our inquiry, and quickly followed up with pricing and availability. Greg was flexible in accommodating our schedules and was extremely quick when it came to installing our new ceiling fan. We also greatly appreciate his professionalism and safety measures taken during these COVID-19 times. We will certainly be utilizing GDM electric in the future. read more

Greg responded to my request for a quote quickly and we were able to schedule something for the following week. He did an excellent job of installing recessed lighting in our living room. We will definitely use GDM Electric again. read more

Greg was awesome. I got a response same day, came out in person the next day to look at the job and that night I had the quote and the work scheduled. The pricing was fair, he's very professional, wore mask and covered his shoes every time he was in the house. Most importantly, the work was awesome. We had a challenge with 30 foot ceilings in our great room and multiple challenges with access through the attic and he had no problems at all. I would highly recommend GDM to anyone! read more

Highly recommend!!! He responded within 20 minutes to our inquiry, and though our issue was not urgent (updating an outlet for a new dishwasher), he was out to fix it within 24 hours. Price was reasonable, and even came down once he saw it in person that it wasn't as complicated as he thought from the pictures. read more

We have hired Greg multiple times and have NEVER been disappointed. He will give every task his fullest attention and solves each problem with enthusiasm and artistry. Professional and outstanding quality services! Will always contact GDM Electric if anything is need!

Greg made my day! I work out of my home (hairstylist) and my blow dryer blew out my wiring. (Lots of power) my regular light (that I use for cutting hair) stopped working, which is a problem! Lol. I tried to figure it out myself, which allowed me to see sparks flying from the wires. I'll stick with doing hair... Thank you!!!! One of my clients said to try yelp for an electrician. I did! And found my savior!! Lol Greg had all of the best reviews, and one crappy. I decided to laugh at the crappy review and try him. He was excellent! On time. Showed me the burnt (yikes) out swich...fixed other outlets that I didn't ask him to...and charged me 150! SWEET DEAL!! Nice guy. Honest. Deserves that crap review to be deleted!! I will be using him for all my electrical needs. THANK YOU Greg!! read more

This was our second time working with Greg. Showed up early and was very efficient getting a number of small projects around the house finished. He also talked me out of putting in new switch suggesting that, ultimately, we wouldn't use it as much as we thought. Saved us a bunch of money. He's very courteous, professional, and trustworthy. We'll definitely use him again. read more

Loved working with Greg! He responded immediately when I needed electrical work done at my new condo. He came out the next day to give me a quote for the electrical work that I needed done and even set up my nest thermostat the same day. He ran a new electrical line for our dryer and hung two new light fixtures in our place. Both turned out perfectly and I'm so happy that I went with Greg. He made the whole process seamless and really made moving into my new place easy and affordable. read more

All the reviews are correct. Greg is amazing. He responds very quickly to Yelp requests, texts, etc. I needed a back MUD room's halogen light fixture replaced with a hanging pendant, which was over a considerable amount of stairs. He came on time, wore foot protection inside my home, replaced the fixture safely and with quality equipment, and was done in 30 mins. He had all his tools etc ready to go and knew exactly what he was doing. He even went the extra mile when I asked him to do a little cobweb cleanup while he was on the ladder. I will not hesitate 1% to hire him again for our next electric issue! As a homeowner for about 14 years, I'll tell you when you see a contractor gem like Greg, don't lose his info. Also, don't cheap out with a sub-par contractor (in any field); you'll pay for it!! To top it off his business card even looks cool. A+! read more

Greg resolved my electrical issue with out ever even stepping foot into my apartment. I planned to schedule an appointment at some point in the next week but he was/is booked solid for the next two weeks (which is no surprise when you're as good as he/they are). He sent simple instructions, based on my assessment, and sure enough, it resolved the issue. I owe you a beer, Greg. FYI, you're on my quick dial next time I need electrical work! read more

Greg is an outstanding electrician! He installed a ceiling fan and a chandelier in my home in under an hour. Best electrician ever, most experienced in everything, arrives prepared...so very fast, fair prices. Nothing phases him. Reliable, responsible on time. He obviously loves his work. What we sense as old fashioned work ethic is just normal to him. Very refreshing and relaxing. I never have to worry about any aspect of the job, he's always ahead of me on same page. read more

Very responsive. Explained everything he did. Competitive price. I would highly recommend!!

I needed an electrician to move an electrical supply from under a bank of windows so I could replace the windows with a sliding patio door. Since that portion of the house was built in 1949, I was a little worried about what I might find once the job was started. Greg came over, he was punctual, gave a free estimate, was very polite, easy to talk to and bounce ideas off of, and did ultimately did an excellent job! So much so that I had him come back and install some track lighting for me. People are always looking for the word of mouth reference that friends trust, and Greg is great. Very capable. Good communicator as well... when was the last time you got THAT from a contractor. read more

Greg installed several light fixtures, added remote operation to a light and fixed a broken switch. He was professional and got the job done quickly and thoroughly. He answered all questions promptly and was thoughtful about how he brought our vision to life. Two of the installations were more complex and a different electrician had said they would need to create a ton of damage to our molding and built-ins. Greg was able to make the installation of the sconces with minimal cosmetic disruption and they look great. read more

Greg was completely professional and knowledgeable electrician. He gave me a fair price and was honest about things that didn't need fixing. He did a great job with replacing our hard-wired smoke alarm, fixing bad outlets, and general electrical work around our house. I would absolutely use GDM again and recommend them to our friends and family. Thanks Greg! read more

I had a plumber come out and try to fix a booster pump for a condo. He claimed I had a heater and the booster pump on the same circuit and would have to split them up. He also claimed i'd have to run a new 220v line as the line was only running 110v. Why would I think a plumber knew anything about electricity is beyond me. I called Greg on Friday and he ACTUALLY CALLED BACK! This is a true rarity in Chicago. (I left 2 other 5 star places on yelp messages---that was 5 days ago and still have yet to hear anything) Greg worked around my schedule and came out the following Monday. He opened the box and found the heater and booster pump were actually split on two different lines and the line was 220v. The thermostat was the issue. He ran to HD and picked up a new one and installed it within the hour. $150 for the hour, $27 for the thermostat. Simple job, but he explains what was wrong. I saw what he checked and was fast and efficient. Never felt cheated or slighted. I'd call him again easily for any size job. I hope he continues this great service. Not many out there like him. read more

For all those people that gave them 5 star reviews, you've been all ripped off. Got an estimate from them and I thought it was kinda high and sure enough another electrician did the same work for 1/4 the cost! Come on GDM electric there's a thing called the"internet" that kinda gives you a ballpark figure for what I think is a simple work! Don't depend so much on theses reviews to inflate your prices. read more

I can't recommend GDM Electric enough! Greg came out for free to quote our ceiling fan installation and additional garage outlets.  Our ceiling fan is a large windmill type in a 2 story room about 20 feet tall.  Greg was willing to setup scaffolding to install it.  He provided an e-mail estimate, which we revised 3 times as I kept modifying and changing my mind on how we wanted to do it (remove the wall switches, keep the existing wall switches, change from 3 to 2 outlets in the garage).  Every time, Greg didn't complain and immediately modified the quote, updated the price and re-sent it.  Greg was very reasonably priced compared to other quotes we received over the phone.  Greg and Chris arrived early and on-time on the installation date, both wearing masks in our home.  I thought the scaffolding and complicated ceiling fan would take several hours to complete.  They had the scaffolding setup in about 20 minutes and the ceiling fan assembled, installed and running after about another 30 minutes.  I was amazed how quickly and efficiently they worked!  They then worked in our garage and only cut 2 small holes to add additional garage outlets.  They patched the holes and now I can easily just sand and touch-up paint the small holes (as we agreed during the quote).  Once again, thanks Greg and Chris for doing such a great job!  Picture attached of our large windmill ceiling fan installed. read more

Greg is awesome. He did some recessed lighting in 2 rooms, garage work and installed an exhaust fan in our bathroom. He is On time, honest, fairly priced and prompt with response. This is the Second time we hired Greg for electrical work in our home and he is outstanding. I would recommend him for both large and small jobs. Greg was extremely quick to reply with a very reasonable quote to install a doorbell system because my house didn't have one. Scheduled an install date the same day. The day of, he reached out to me and came earlier than expected, which worked out great for me. He and his worker were very professional, polite, and got straight to the point and did the work in less than an hour. He even made sure that everything was working with my smart doorbell and knew what exactly to do. Afterward, I requested a quote to add an outdoor outlet, he gave me a great price and said he could do it right away as well. Everything turned out great and I was very happy with their work. They laid down traps and cleaned up so well, I barely even noticed they were there. I would definitely recommend and use their service on my next project. Thanks Greg! read more
