There was a birthday party going on and the park was filled with folks of all ages. Trails: A little walk on the left leads you to the dam(falls) and it's a very quiet and serene path to walk or jog. There are 2-3 trails around the park but a bit rugged, so I recommend going when there's plenty of daylight. Parking spots are plenty and the park is pet-friendly. There are also kayak rentals on the river bank below. When we came we hiked the 3/4 mile looped trail behind the playground accessible from the parking lot. There was a bald eagle flying above his beat. Kayakers down below had beached themselves on a sandbar in the middle of the river. A guitarist was jamming and kids were playing in the Sun. Just a picture perfect place to relax and take in the sites.

There is a deck that you can pay to park in at the Emory Clifton campus - that is the closest parking I believe.

Initially we parked in the wrong lot but that worked in our favor (where the bait and tackle shop is). There were lots of families out having picnics and fishing. We did a 1-mile loop in the area and were able to see the yurts. NOTED . Beautiful sites to take in before we ventured to the main lots with the visitor's center. Not only are the trails well marked, but there is ample parking across multiple lots. The attendant at the gate entrance was so kind, welcoming and JOYful! We ventured out on the red trail and it was gorgeous. To my surprise, the trail was full today. It seems that Sweetwater is a populated date spot!!! We saw folks of all ages out with picnic baskets, journals, coloring books, bathing suits ... it was AMAZING! We hiked to the end of the red trail and back, venturing off trail to be clear to the River only once. By far, this was one of my favorite hikes and definitely a place I'll revisit to explore some of the other trails.

Playground: There are 2 baby swings and 2 regular swings, and they're separated from the main playground structures by some stairs. (I like to think this keeps kids from beaning others in the head while swinging, but let's be honest, that could still happen plenty.) There are some toddler-friendly parts of the playground, but the whole thing caters well to older (3+) kids. Rockwall, multiple slides, a smaller slide, and some benches. Dog park: The dog park is well-loved and has many regulars. There are 2 benches outside the park for onlookers. Folks tend to keep a good eye on their own pups. The ground has some grassy areas and some dirt areas with both sunshine and shade. Doggy water fountains are available. Other: There's a bathroom near the dog park entrance. Near the rose bushes is a water fountain with spigots for dogs, kids, and taller people. This park has 2 parking lots, one near the dog park entrance and one closer to the playground. There's a creek on the premises and large fields of grass with shade and sunshine. Fun finds: We've found a red-tailed hawk tailfeather, a lot of leftover rabbit fur from a hawk's hung, and uh, my kid found a little baggy of weed at the swings once, but it's a statistically low probability for future visits...

Approaching the bridge that crosses the marsh grasses seem nice and then a long 3/4 mile hike along a singular path with no roundabout back to the point of origin. When we reached the view of the river (stream) it built up nticipationnfor what we saw towards the end of the trail a nice Mecca of cascading waterfalls. Nothing big but it was cool and pleasant to sit in. To top it off the end revealed a nice wooden covered bridge.

We have lived in the area for 5+ years and we are 5 minutes from this gem and didn't even know it! There is a stroller friendly trail nestled in between trees, and a wetlands area with elevated boardwalk. The trail parallels the Nickajack Creek which flows into the Chattahoochee River, so it is a fast flowing creek. We walked for an hour or so on this scenic path and sat under the gazebo for a moment after our little hike. It's so nice to discover something new and nearby.

It was just as nice as I remembered, maybe even a little nostalgic for me. The trail was calm and not too busy, but there were still enough people around to feel comfortable/safe without feeling crowded. It's perfect for families out for a stroll or a casual bike ride, and also great for runners and more experienced cyclists. Fall seems like one of the best times to visit. The tall trees lining the trail were beautiful, creating a really serene atmosphere. I genuinely enjoyed every minute of it and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy some quiet time outdoors. Being outside and taking in the beauty of it all was motivation enough to keep walking, and we ended up walking for a little over 4 miles. A great alternative for a trail in the metro area if you don't want to deal with the hustle and bustle of the beltline. Can't wait to go back!

It's very easy to inflate and carry down to the river and you can reuse time and time again. If you go this route, it's best to go with another party that can park at the finish spot so you have a ride back to your car when you're all done. The water is pretty calm. It can be a little chilly at first, but you get used to it eventually. I like to bring a paddle with me so I can better control my float. The whole trip takes about 3 hours to enjoy. So bring some friends, pack some drinks and snacks, and enjoy a lazy afternoon on the river.

One staff member said they stopped doing walk ins, however they changed their mind so we got lucky.. they charge for the tube which was $22, a "convenience fee," and shuttle charge for $4 a person. And if you want a square cooler tube it was $10. It was a kind of an unprofessional environment with young adults working the table to take in our payments. You have to leave one ID of the whole group you're with for security reasons I'm assuming, but you get it back at the end. Now, we got our tubes and life jackets and off to the Chattahoochee we go! The water was freezing cold even though it was a hot 90° outside. The thing that sucked most was my tube I was in, was already starting to deflate, along with another tube deflating slowly as well. That's wonderful.. There was an accident that happened on the ride down the river. My boyfriend had a shoulder injury previously, and somehow his shoulder dislocated while trying to push off a pier to get us away from the side.. well that was unexpected. It was tough to even get him out of the river and we didn't finish until after 6pm almost 7 by the time I went to grab my ID. And on my way towards the shuttle, not only did it stopped at 6, I wasn't even told they stopped running by that time. So the only option was to take a 5 minute lyft/Uber or walk 30+ minutes back to the starting point where the car is parked.

The lake is beautiful there, they have a nice bathroom, the campsites even have electric and running water you can use! The one thing I wish I would have known before going out there for the night was that the campsites where you pitch your tent are extremely hard ground and gravel. You'll absolutely want to bring extra cushion for under your sleeping bag. Don't be a fool like me, and wake up in pain haha.

This might have been due to the office being closed due to social distancing. So I can understand why parking was at the office.. maybe for the future a QR code closer to the actual Yurts.
