I took my 2018 Mercedes CLA 250 in for service, and key FOB replacement. They changed my key FOB on the spot, and had the car complete in under a business day. They called and advised, their recommendations prior to proceeding. The staff are very friendly, and I was charged a reasonable price for their services. I brought my car into this shop to get diagnosed for an issue with surging rpms. Initially the mechanic (possibly owner) seemed welcoming. I went to this shop primarily because of google review which boasted about their work and honesty, so I proceeded. Initially they brought the car in to have a look at it. They mentioned they could quickly clear the code and the revving should go away but this would require us to come back. Here's the kicker, they charged us $60 just for opening the hood, sitting in the car and telling us about the issue the potential issue. Okay, so they took the money and told me to come in at a later date so they could scan it for a code. A valvetronic code appeared which means there was an issue with some component of the valvetronic system. One culprit was the eccentric shaft actuator which they quoted $1200 or so to repair. I told them we could not pay this much for this to be installed but asked if they could reprogram the car for us. We basically asked them if they could perform a software update on the vehicle which has been known to resolve the surging rpm after installing a new part, which keep in mind is still a costly service and of course would be included in the price they quoted. They said sure, bring it in and we will be able to do that. We replaced the part ourselves, which was simple and brought the car in. However, this time, they told us they could not clear the code nor could they reprogram the car because there was an issue with the installation of the eccentric shaft actuator (we told them we had replaced the part). They said something like, the part must not be connected cause they are not getting a signal. We told them fine and left. Funny thing is I used a $60 dollar code scanner and cleared the code. Furthermore, I found someone to reprogram the car (called a valvetronic relearn procedure) and the car does not rev. Our problem was solved. Honestly, I don't recommend taking a car to this shop. I'm sure they have their regulars, but if you're looking for a one off service for something costly, I would recommend going elsewhere. There are many shops out there. They were unprofessional when we refused their quote, despite saying we would pay a couple hundred to reprogram the car. read more

Expensive Nightmare. A simple issue. Battery replaced. Then they kept the car for 3 weeks and wanted to keep it longer so they could keep charging me for diagnostics. . Claimed it was discharging overnight. Accused me of connecting positive to negative when boosting hence blowing some circuits. That scared me. I asked if battery was the problem and they assured me the battery was fine. I had to insist on getting the car back and take it to the dealer. CAA could not help because they are not CAA approved and said I had to pay them what they wanted and settle in court later. I had to buy a booster to carry with me because the car would stall. Two trips to dealer and expensive diagnostics. On first trip I said battery was ok believing GB auto. On second trip I said to check the battery, They installed the WRONG battery. GB auto would admit to their mistake. They are offering shop credit for their unnecessary charges. Would I take my car back to someone that does not know what they are doing. We could have settled this with a compromise but now I have to go to small claims. Time, money, aggravation. Expensive. GB Auto installed the wrong battery. Car has been fine with the new battery from the dealer. Very unethical. read more

I took my 1999 Saab here for repairs to the soft top on July 12, 2023. After numerous calls to inquire about the status of the work I was finally told on July 31 that my car was fixed and ready for me to pick up. As I am driving there to pick it up the next day I get a call from one of the owners telling me that my car had been broken into on their lot the previous evening and the perpetrators smashed the centre console and cut all wires to the ignition and it was inoperable. My insurance company decided to write the car off and after it sitting on their lot for another 3 weeks they charged my insurance company $75 per day in storage and forced me to pay the entire repair bill for the work they had supposedly done before they would release my car. And not so much as an apology for all of this from any of them. I would urge anyone considering patronizing this business to avoid them like the plague. Imagine taking your car in for a relatively minor repair and wind up loosing it after 20+ years of proud ownership and care. These guys are brutal!! I have taken my car to GB autos on three occasions, and every time I have had to bring it back for one reason or another for something that was supposedly done. The workmanship was shoddy and never done right the first time, and major repairs that should have been spotted were missed altogether. Costing me lots of time and money. I had some issues with my car, I was hearing noises coming from the hood, and I'm not car-savy but I knew something was wrong... so I took the car for an oil change since it needed it anyway and asked them to check what that noise was... when I picked it up, they said it was the thermostat that needed to be changed, I paid 150 for an oil change (in the receipt it didn't say they charged me for the checkup) which I thought it was quite a lot.... went home to ponder on changing the thermostat since they quoted me $950 to change it.... A week later, when I had finally made my decision on changing it, the noise became very apparent it wasn't the thermostat... and on my way to these guys the car felt like something broke... so took it to the nearest mechanic at Jane and St. Claire (Expo2000) and realized that what broke was my alternator band... the mechanic there showed me physically what was broken, he took it out, showed me what parts were also broken... So without an alternator band I couldn't drive anywhere... So yeah I give it a 1 star, because not only did I have to pay so much for something that was wrong, but I asked them to check the car for any other outstanding issues on the car and this was not brought up! An alternator band doesn't break out of nowhere... that was the noise I was hearing... GB Autos is more concerned about getting your money than actually giving a good service, the moment I stepped there, I felt like the manager there (A short guy) was only interested in money... did not even offer a pickup or a ride to or from work.... most other mechanics do... The thermostat is only related to the alternator band in the way that it charges the battery and allows electrical elements to be used such as power steering, lights, electric locks and cooling for the car.... I will never come back here for anything whatsoever... and I urge people not to come here either... read more

Went this morning to check the alignment on the new car before taking it to the dealership. Very friendly and accompanying, only booked the appointment yesterday. They actually pulled cars out of bay to fit us in. Quick service and they took us into the bay to look at the readings. At no point did they try to sell us other services. Overall very impressed! $3300 in repairs. Went there because they claimed to be Volvo experts. Brought in my Volvo XC90 for an engine leak under warranty which only covered $2200 of the $3300. First off they had my car for 2 weeks and 2 days . They never called me on any updates then requested I change my alternator so I said ok then it turns out it is fine it's my Pully that is bad so I said fine. I pick up my car it is complete. I drive home it seems fine before I get home car is overheating I call them they said bring it back in next day which I did. They made me wait 5 hours to test my fan that stopped working thus the car overheating and deny it was their fault. Told them fan was fine before ? Quoted the fan at $750 plus wanted to charge me $110 for inspecting the fan after $3300 of work they just did even making me feel like the bad guy for denying inspection fee which I had no more money to pay them anyway degrading me in front of other customers. I said I will pay you inspection fee when I can I have no more money ? Didn't think I would have to pay to inspect something they may have broke ?. I am somewhat mechanically inclined so I went to a parts store bought a used fan installed it and still not working ? I checked wiring to the fan it was a loose ground wire that was never tightened after they worked on my car ? Did they loosen it on purpose I don't know but I waited 5 hours for them to test the fan and determined fan was no good ? So now I'm stuck with 2 fans for nothing can't return the fan I purchased. Next day my alternator light turns on which was fine before as well ? Took it to a real Volvo specialist they found my tensioner pully was busted because of un neccasary excessive force trying to release serpentine belt improperly. Also my top engine mount was loose on one side not tightened up my steering wheel now squeals like a pig when I turn, and alternator was somewhat sabotaged. I had 0 problems with my Volvo except for an oil leak then they turned it into a nightmare. Even the simplest thing as my power mirrors were forced closed by hand ? Volvo experts they are not. So far my leak is fixed though but advise you to not go there unless you are just doing an oil change they should be able to manage small services but stay away if you need exstensive repairs or if you don't want to be humiliated in front of staff and customers. Just got my car back from a real Volvo specialist addition to the $3400 GB auto got from me had to dish out $1750 for alternator they sabotaged and tensioner pully they broke. Thanks GB auto. Anyone who needs a real professional shop go to Start auto electric the owners name is Ian he is on the tv show on CP24 the lemonade show. Start auto gave me the broken tensioner pulley I wonder if gb auto will own up and pay for it $500 read more

Very disappointed with the service and attitude!!! I went to change tires and they asked me to return in 30-45 min. When I returned back they told me that I have to wait little bit. After 20 min of waiting I asked them if they can't take my car I can come back in 30 min or so. No, they said wait little bit. After another 30 min. They took my car inside. Now the car is waiting inside rather than outside. I decided to ask them again if they are taking my car and Paul tells me that if I don't want to wait I can take my car out without even apologizing.
