From Ms. Lihua's classroom to Ms. Jing's, and now Ms. Ping's, our child has been thriving during her time there. All the teachers (and assistants) have been great; they pay attention to our child's strengths, weaknesses, personality and behavior tendencies and adjust their teaching accordingly as opposed to applying one standard approach to all the kids in the class. When we had our second child, we were eager to send her to Ms Lihua's class right when she turned 18 months. The personalities of our two children are quite different; but Ms Lihua's caring and loving style really shines through to get the little ones acclimated quickly to a new school setting, regardless of their differing personalities. We're excited to see our second child go through the other classes in the future as well. It's great that Odyssey is continuously able to retain their amazing teachers for so many years.

The class size was smaller due to COVID. My child was with an amazing nanny from 4 months to 3. I was apprehensive across the board but teachers made the transition so easy. We were lucky enough to transfer to their RWC location, which is more practical for where we live. However, I will always have fond memories of where he first started his education.

What has amazed us is how much our son has learned and grown. He came into Sea Breeze with some speech delays, and watching his confidence and communication flourish has meant so much to us. We truly believe that the growth is a reflection of the patience and encouragement of the incredible teachers who show up for our children every day. We're so thankful that their love for learning has sprouted from such a young age and trust it will have a positive impact as they grow! As parents, trust doesn't come easy with who we feel comfortable watching our children, but they are truly in wonderful caring hands.

I signed up my daughter for after care through 4CS, which is a program that helps low income families afford child care services. I got a really negative vibe from Jamie right away. She had told me that 4CS was giving them extra payments beyond tuition that I asked her to use towards the $200/month they were charging me directly for transportation because they told me that it wasn't covered by 4CS. I kept asking Jamie to ask the 4CS payments coordinator if they could use those extra payments for my transportation costs, since that money was meant to help me with child care costs after all. Jamie then proceeded to outright lie to me (as I just found out yesterday, 6 months later). She told me she had not received a response from 4CS. I had to keep asking several times and she lied to me several times. I feel she was waiting for me to send a frustrated email so that she could show Jerelyn that I didn't deserve to get MY money back. After receiving that frustrated email from me, Jerelyn responded and told me I was being unprofessional and that they would not be returning MY money to me, instead they decided to use it for their scholarship fund. I went back and forth with Jerelyn until she sent me a screenshot that showed that Jamie had gotten a response back from 4CS saying that they could use that money 'however they liked' back in early February. So, Jamie lied to me for months and she would end those lying emails with 'have a lovely day! Warmly, Jamie'. So disgusting. I showed both of them proof yesterday that Jamie outright lied to me for months and I haven't heard anything back since then.

I always tell people this school feels like how childhood is meant to be. Kids freely choosing to engage in a variety of engaging materials, amazing playground, and a large sand box. Kids learn to play together and work through any conflicts. Before we went to this school I used to feel guilty I didn't provide enough variation in activities at home. You name it, this school has it or has done it. Paint, Play-Doh, kinetic sand, sensory bins, story time, shaving cream, Legos, bikes, scooters... Co-oping is also a great way to see your kid engage with other kids and to form bonds in the parent community. I feel really fortunate I happened across this school with my first child and thankful all three have had the opportunity to go here and play.

My youngest daughter came here 1 year before starting kindergarten. She was at another daycare and I was concerned she was behind academically (compared to where her brothers were at her age), especially having a late summer birthday. She also had some issues with asserting herself. My goals were helping her to learn the basics so she was prepared for kindergarten and being in a positive and nurturing environment so she could gain confidence and become her own person. She achieved both at Trinity. In less than a year, she not only recognizes numbers and letters, but she is starting to read. More importantly, she is in a very positive and warm environment which has allowed her to not only come out of her shell, but have many relationships with lots of friends and classmates. To our surprise, she's blossomed into a social butterfly! What makes the difference is that the teachers love teaching. They are happy and it shows and creates the amazing environment at Trinity. Ms Jam is an exceptional director who not only organizes the most creative events (field trips and on-site activities), but she understands learning and how to build a program and foster an environment that allows each child to thrive. The parents are down to earth and centered. That also makes a big difference. The children are kind and they learn kindness. This is a very special place.

From the TK open house that I went to and observed, it was more like a daycare center and nothing like what Trinity provide for my child. What do Trinity provide? Well, let me tell you this... my daughter is now 5 years old and she only has a few more months left at Trinity before you graduate and attend kindergarten. My daughter is reading Magical Tree House chapter books with ease (she's on book 2 now). She is doing 3 column math arithmetic! She can confidently count in Spanish and a few other Spanish words. She's currently in the older class and they have 7 or 8 teachers for classroom size of 25 students. They are flexible in late pick up because they understand traffic happens. Class schedule is from 8am to 5:30pm.

The food is healthy and yummy, the curriculum allows kids to start kindergarten well-prepared and confident, they maintain friendly and creative atmosphere in the class. Miss Saniya trained him for potty training within 2-3 weeks which other school struggled for months. They provide fresh food, loving and caring environment for children and also take care of academics. They do activities and projects even at 2.5 years. They celebrate all festivals and important days like father's day etc which creates a bond. I have been truly lucky that I stumbled upon this preschool. Where do I start in singing its…read morepraises? I don't write reviews but felt this would help newcomers with their decision to choose Bunker Hill. My husband's work team changed to the Bay area, so we found ourselves planning a move in September. I checked online to see what preschools were around the area we were moving to, and found Bunker Hill. I honestly didn't know what to expect as the reviews were either quite old or scathing. The location and clear history of being a wonderful place enticed me enough to schedule a tour. The location really can't be beat, it's basically nestled in the woods in a residential neighborhood! Co-Op style preschool seemed interesting; it looked like I could be more involved and present. My daughter was/is a pandemic baby and was a huge koala (clingy). My daughter's prior preschool at our local school district wasn't a great fit and unfortunately soured her first school experience. They were ratio'd with 1 adult to 12 children and a couple rotating aides (Bunker Hill is like 1 adult to 4 kids or even more adults, it's great!). My daughter didn't get the individualized attention that she really needed there. It felt like a holding pen for small children, and had virtually no outdoor green space. I'm grateful for her past school but it was truly not the right fit. I was determined to find a place that felt like home for my shy, deeply feeling kid. I contacted Bunker Hill's director, Tiffany, and quickly set up our tour. She was warm, knowledgable, and empathetic towards both grown-ups and my daughter. She listened to my worries and my wishes. She really helped my daughter feel comfortable and saw her as a person. I signed up quickly after that tour, and found my initial nervousness washed away after volunteering and meeting the teachers and other families in my daughter's class. My daughter has gone from being completely clingy, and non-verbal in the presence of non-family to being able to talk to other adults in the span of half a school year and being able to comfortably be dropped off at school. She doesn't have nightmares at night after spending the day at school as she did at her old, traditional preschool. Her speech articulation has shot up like a rocket; I think talking to people that are willing to listen and try to figure out what someone is saying has really boosted her confidence in talking. Her teachers and fellow parents in her class have been really supportive of our journey and have kept me updated when she's at school by herself. She loves going to school now! The biggest con to Bunker Hill, is that the building is a bit rustic and some parts could use a facelift. This is pretty much out of the school's control though, as it rents the school area from the church next door. I have no safety concerns about the school, especially with the teachers and so many volunteer parents around! I don't have enough words to show my appreciation for this school, its wonderful and considerate staff, and the amazing parents I have been lucky to work alongside. I understand that Director Tiffany is new, but she is doing really great! Bunker Hill Nursery School has been around for 60 years and I truly hope it's around for 60 more. Cheers!

It takes a special person to show the patience and consistency needed to support two-year-olds while helping them grow into their best selves. The staff at Bunker display competence in their actions and words with both students and parents during each day of class. The co-op expectation is significant, but the newly appointed board is looking forward toward progressive, balanced innovation that will make the school more inclusive for working (out of the home) parents. I will forever appreciate the memories and joy created alongside this beautiful community of people.

We've sampled many of the day-care/pre-school programs in or near San Mateo, with an emphasis on Montessori programs, and hands down, this one is the most professionally run and has the highest quality environment. As a working professional with a demanding schedule, I have a few must-haves when I go to select learning environments for my children: 1) To be certain that my kid is in a safe environment that challenges them to grow to their fullest potential. 2) To work with talented child-development professionals whose experiences with my kid leads to insights and recommendations that I can unreservedly trust. 3) To be able to trust in the professionalism of the staff and observe consistent high-quality operations. This one sounds obvious, but I am constantly amazed at the unprofessional conduct of most day-care/learning environments. San Mateo Montessori hits the ball out of the park in all three of these areas. It's a special place, and both my kids have thrived there. Yours probably will too!
