She and her staff were so empathetic, accommodating and honest with the whole process that it was so refreshing from I had experience with the other mortuary...the complete opposite. This location came up and got the best courtesy service from the beginning. I was doing everything over the phone trying to help my destroyed emotionally daughter. We were able to get Bailey to them the next afternoon, paid, selected temporary box. They also had other selections to choose from, however I had purchased one on Amazon and was waiting for it. We thought we would get Bailey back in a couple days. We got her the next day. I was tremendously satisfied with everything. Thank you . When my mother-in-law passed we made the arrangements which took excessively long because you had to catch the daughter or daughter-in-law who was very rude! We paid cash for her headstone but still had to wait 2-years until they placed the stone. My father's headstone is sinking. I informed one of the Directors and was told they would level it. One-year later and nothing. They are quick to collect payment or they hold family member hostage. This is truly an outrage! I live in LA and visit as often as possible. My mother purchased a plot from Hems Brother Mortuary back in November 1999. My mother passed May 2022 in Long Beach, CA. I have been calling Hems Mortuary since late May 2022 to schedule her ashes burial and they will not take my calls or work with me to schedule her burial. Yet, Hems took my mother's money for the plot back in 1999. I have asked repeatedly for Kirk or Jamie Hems, and no one has returned my call to schedule my mother's burial. The staff keeps giving excuse is that they are so busy they don't have time to deal with ashes burials. Aren;t you a mortuary and funeral home? This is already a difficult time with a parent's passing but then to deal with Hems is unbelievable. My mother purchased the plot so she could be buried with my father and Hems is not honoring the purchase or my mom's last wishes. Hems Mortuary owns the cemetery in Calexico so I can't use someone else to bury my mom.

I went to high school here in EC and never knew where the cemetery was until my uncle died…read morerecently. This cemetery is pretty big and pretty nice for the Valley and a surprised to me has several trees. Having those trees there really make a difference in the summer. The grounds here are very nice, manicured and has lots of colorful flowers on the grave sites. There is an older section and a new section but the older section looks very historic and a little creepy. I'm not the one who loves being around the dead so I really didn't spend that much time here. Yes the cemetery is big, well maintained and has a ton of trees to keep you cool in the summer. I don't want to come here again but if I do I know what to expect.
