It's already hard enough with dealing a parent's passing but now I cannot even bury her due to Hems Mortuary lack of morality and business principles. My mother purchased a plot from Hems Brother Mortuary back in November 1999. My mother passed May 2022 in Long Beach, CA. I have been calling Hems Mortuary since late May 2022 to schedule her ashes burial and they will not take my calls or work with me to schedule her burial. Yet, Hems took my mother's money for the plot back in 1999. I have asked repeatedly for Kirk or Jamie Hems, and no one has returned my call to schedule my mother's burial. The staff keeps giving excuse is that they are so busy they don't have time to deal with ashes burials. Aren;t you a mortuary and funeral home? This is already a difficult time with a parent's passing but then to deal with Hems is unbelievable. My mother purchased the plot so she could be buried with my father and Hems is not honoring the purchase or my mom's last wishes.

By having them guide me through the set up, I had a live bugler that played two songs, including Taps, I had a gun volley that fired shots and gave the shells to my friend's brother, and had the Honor Guard do the Flag Folding Ceremony. Chaplain Erica had me write 3-4 paragraphs about my friend, and she read them aloud which gave a personal touch. She also read an awesome poem about "The Dash" and gave me a laminated copy. She took pictures and video and transferred them to my Apple phone on the spot. Finally, after we left to the Celebration of Life at a nearby resturant (Cactus Cantina was awesome with a free private room as long as you order food), she sent me photos of my friend's grave after the buriel, with the flowers I left on top of his grave. I highly recommend you connect with Chaplain Erica and Joe for your loved one's service, especially if you need guidance.

Not only did they mess up my grandparents headstone, only to have someone inexperienced mess up the font. Which I dont know why they would let a new hire touch a headstone if they did not know what they were doing. If you are looking to get a headstone I would suggest going to Greenwood. Not only did they lack the compassion to fix the mistake they made, but they answered another client with sarcasm. This is surprising coming from a professional company who often deals with families during the HARDEST time of human life. Please do better.
