Why eating Korean, when in Spain? Well, cuz where I live there's little to no Asian food and usually in the bigger European cities you find gems when it comes to food from the far east. Unfortunately the Gayagum, in the center of Madrid was a little disappointing. The squid was clearly frozen before it went into the broth. The Bullgogi, nicely presented by our friendly server, was ok-ish. Appetizer and side-dishes out of the jar, but that's usual and didn't bother too much. read more

Um, bomb dot com! First off, this restaurant serves many side dishes that consists of fresh veggies and eggs. The owner takes great pride in growing his own food and making food healthy. The soybean soup we ordered was amazing and the service was impeccable. I will definitely come again! read more

Korean restaurant in Spain? Why not? We love Galbi and Korean food in general so it was hard to resist - it's the only one we've seen so far and looked promising. We were told we had to order 3 main courses as there were 3 of us dining. The explanation was we were going to be given a lot of side dishes (Ban Chan), so okay, we order an extra large dish of Fried Mandoo. Galbi was okay but the Bulgogi did not have enough flavoring. It was also expensive compared to something stateside or even vs Spanish food. Maybe they specialize in other dishes and not BBQ. That would be strange, though. Our server was a little stressed as there were 2 large groups of Korean tourists who came in for some sort of set-piece lunch. One group looked to be around 30 people, the other smaller, so the place was busy. Owner was pleasant though, all smiles and he brought me beer fast. Wow! This place is authentic! Like the other reviewer I'm Korean who grew up in Korea and in Los Angeles aka the other Korea and can vouch for the authentic taste of this joint. The side dishes are fresh and tasty and the kimchi is the bomb! I had the blood sausage stew as recommended by the owner and it was one of the best I had (even comparing to the ones I had in Korea). It's the best Korean restaurant in Europe. I have never tasted this kind of the kimchi during my 12 years travel in all over European country. All side dishes are really fresh and tasty. After looking for good korean food in the area, we stumbled upon this treasure. The food was amazing! Even better than most restaurants in Korea (and I'm korean so thats saying a lot!! ) on top of that, the restaurant is very clean and decorated with a lot of traditional korean art. Portions were huge!! And prices very fair for the amount and quality of food (the owners grow their own vegetables) Very friendly owners and free coffee and fruit at the end. Overall an average experience . The owners were welcoming and the atmosphere was fine . Don ' t be fooled by the € symbol on yelp , it is not a cheap place . The basic soups were around €16 and meats go well above €20 per person . This is even more expensive than the average New York K-town price , and the quality didn ' t seem to merit the price . It did however make up for it in generous portions . But I would still rather have a little less of an amazing dish than a lot of something average . I would recommend this place if you are desperately craving for Korean food . Otherwise , just go to any of the tapa bars that are in the area ! read more

If you're looking for a Korean restaurant in Madrid, this is the place to go! My sister has been here multiple times and has loved everything she's had. I went for the first time today. The price is a bit on the expensive side, considering what you pay in the states. I ordered a kimchi soup, which I thought was okay but was enough to satisfy my craving. My sister ordered the black bean noodle, which normally is excellent, but was not up to par today. The food however came out in a timely manner and was hot and fresh. A good set menu Starter peppers stuffed with cod in a black sauce, half a grilled lobster, steak with potatoes and vegetables or baked sea bass and potatoes, pudding, coffee, liquer, bread, 1/2 bottle rose : very good value at 23 Euroes. Clientel was a mixture of tourists and locals. Restaurant is in a back room behind the bar. The staff are very pleasant and obliging. My Korean wife and I went here while we visited Madrid b/c we craved Korean food. Everything was excellent! The service was prompt and the food was wonderful - authentic and plenty spicy/flavorful. The owner told us that he grew the vegetables and prepared all the dishes himself, making everything that much more special. Frequent traveler and this place is pretty darn good as it gets outside of la, Korea, and Japan. Portions in the pre fix menu is generous and yummy. Seafood pajeon, pork belly stir fry, beef galbi, and soup. Was told by owner that he grows his own veggies for the banchan. Impressive! read more

Very disappointing. I'm a big fan on Korean food, but this is a very poor effort. Hugely overpriced, and quite bland, the food here was sub-par. I guess there isn't much competition in Madrid so they can get away with serving up something so ordinary. read more
