When Dr. Roger Hess entered the room, instead of focusing on the appointment, he began offering explanations for his late arrival. I made it clear that the excuses were not my concern and that I wanted to move forward with the appointment professionally. What immediately stood out to me was that while I was addressing the situation, he was smiling and laughing, which came across as dismissive and unprofessional given the circumstances. Shortly after that, it became obvious he had not reviewed my referral and did not even know why I was there. At one point, he commented that he would need to read through the 10-page VA referral during the appointment itself, which confirmed he was completely unprepared. As both a veteran and a counselor, I understand healthcare offices can run behind at times. However, being over an hour late, unprepared, and unfamiliar with the reason for the visit is not acceptable--especially after a patient drives a significant distance for care. Overall, this was one of the most frustrating and unproductive medical appointments I have experienced.

First, their front desk staff are rude and overzealous. If you are ill, you can be expected to wait 2 months for the next available appointment or go to an urgent care, when your physician might have squeezed you in. The scheduling only seems to allow for well-patient visits. This may be because UH requires that each visit last only for 15 minutes, putting pressure on physicians to be caring, accurate, and able to diagnose and treat every single thing in 15 minutes. This is not the fault of the practitioners, but rather the system. And is reflected in UH's low abysmal ratings. But really, the front desk staff is reliably awful at this location.

I was so impressed with a doctor who cared enough to call me so promptly at such a late hour That brings me to yesterday. While waiting to go into the treatment room I received an email with very upsetting news related to my job. I was so upset that I actually started to cry. Dr. Khavalis and his staff could not have been nicer. The doctor even offered to cancel my procedure and reschedule it for a later date. He really cares about his patients!!! Over time, I explored just about every non-surgical approach available and adapted to living with my condition while steering clear of additional surgery. Recently though, I sought professional guidance regarding the ongoing deterioration in my jaw and to understand my current options. After weeks of intensive research to identify top-tier oral/maxillofacial surgeons throughout the United States, I discovered Dr. Krajekian and traveled from California to Cleveland for a consultation. Remarkably, within the first few minutes of meeting him, I felt an immediate sense of confidence in his expertise. What makes Dr. Krajekian truly exceptional is his pioneering work in modern TMJ surgical techniques. He is one of very few surgeons who uses immersive virtual reality (VR) technology for diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning, and surgical rehearsal. I watched his VR demonstration with great interest. It made me realize there had been a dramatic evolution in TMJ treatment since my earlier experience. Beyond his technical expertise, Dr. Krajekian demonstrates an unparalleled dedication to his patients. He carefully developed a customized treatment strategy for my specific situation and has patiently provided detailed, illuminating answers to all my questions. His care is not limited to office visits. He makes himself directly available for direct communication via email and phone - yes, without having to go through admin staff or a patient portal. This is an unprecedented level of availability that I've never before encountered with any healthcare provider. I'm choosing to share my experience now, even before undergoing the actual surgery, because I understand how challenging and overwhelming it can be to find the right specialized care for complex TMJ disorders. Dr. Krajekian's thorough and outstanding pre-surgical support and accessibility have already made a significant positive impact.

I made several visits to my dentist through the years and a few to my PCP, no one could help me! In January, I developed a bump behind my molars so I decided to try the dentist again. After a visit to another dentist who referred me to an oral surgeon, I was told I had a cyst and an impacted wisdom tooth close to the jaw bone. It needed to be taken care of asap but another surgeon would need to do it. After an ordeal with finding an oral surgeon, an appointment with Dr.Krajekien was made. I was so defeated by the time I walked into his office and figured it would be the same old same old. He assured me that we were going to resolve this. He was so kind and compassionate and understanding. I told him what was happening and he told me about the VR that he uses in surgery that would show him exactly what was happening in my mouth. After dealing with this for so long and now adding the cyst to the problem and listening to Dr. Krajekien, I knew VR would be my best option. It would show the most accurate analysis of what was causing the tongue issue and help determine the best way to eliminate the cyst and hopefully the intense tingling. I walked out of his office with renewed hope!! He and his team were great with finding appointments that would fit into my husband's and I's busy schedule. Communication was great after I asked what was the best way to get in contact with him and his team. He went above and beyond for me. Due to insurance issues I was about to accept defeat. He would not let me quit! Dr.Krajekien went to bat for me and hit a grand slam! The day before the surgery at my pre op appointment he showed me the VR image and explained to me what was happening and what he was going to do. Amazing! The image he showed me made it crystal clear why my tongue felt the way it did. I was so nervous but so excited for the next day! The day of surgery he was upbeat making sure I was comfortable, happily answering any last minute questions. Once in the OR he was so kind and compassionate, making sure my anxiety was under control for the brief moments I was conscious. During surgery his team kept my family updated every step of the way. After surgery my jaw was still intact, my cyst and wisdom tooth gone and I felt no pain. The surgery went quickly and smoothly I believe due to the VR aspect in preparing for my surgery. In the days after surgery I was able to contact Dr.Krajekian with any questions or concerns. I am on day 7 of my recovery and have had very little pain and no tingling tongue!!! You can tell Dr.Krajekian loves what he does and is dedicated to making those suffering better! He and his team are top notch!! Thank you!!

I had two appointments with him before my surgery and he did a camera up my nose along with a CT scan of my sinuses. I had previously gotten surgery on my deviated septum in July of 2017 and wasn't exactly thrilled will the results of the procedure done at the Cleveland Clinic. After the procedure at the Cleveland Clinic I could still on breathe out of the right side of my nose, somewhat better just not ideal. The doctor I had at the Cleveland Clinic never did a ct scan on my sinuses or put the camera up my nose. He basically looked up my nose and was like you need surgery. Michael Gaugler is one of the best doctors and a great surgeon. Though I only had my procedure yesterday's it's clear there is a night and day difference between some doctors. He also cleaned out my sinuses behind my cheeks and eyes, which from his indication was not done during my previous procedure at the CC. I'm very pleased Thanks again Dr. Gaugler.
