Do not provide business to Affordable Tire and Auto Service…read more It pains me to write this review after a year and a half of good service at Affordable Tire and Auto Service. After replacing all four brakes and attempting to diagnose a steering wheel wobble over a few visits, I noticed damage to the underside of my vehicle. My vehicle is a full-size Ford Transit commercial van and it was obvious that someone jacked it up on the body welds where you would lift a minivan or small car, denting it. In the most cordial manner possible, I brought this to the attention of Martin, understanding that mishaps happen. He maintained a position that his shop was not at fault for the damage. I demonstrated that his floor jack fit into the dent. I have pictures of the underside of my vehicle before the damage occurred and the vehicle was not serviced anywhere else for over a year. There is no reasonable explanation other than the damage occurring by them. Begrudgingly, Martin agreed to have my vehicle repaired. The next few weeks went by with many unreturned voice messages and texts, and finally a visit to a body shop of his choosing that turned down the job. The second body shop he sent me to provided a quote which I promptly sent to Martin to review. Another few weeks went by with difficulty reaching him. At no point did he ever try to initiate any contact to move towards a resolution. When I got back in touch with Martin over a month had gone by since bringing the issue to his attention. In order to try to bring the matter to conclusion, and avoid having my van tied up for weeks at the body shop, I offered to reach a settlement for an amount below the estimate. This angered him and he seemed to think this whole matter was some kind of scam. A week before my appointment to drop off the vehicle for repair I received a call from the body shop informing me I needed to provide a deposit for half of the amount. When I told them Affordable Tire would be responsible for the cost they further recommended they pay the entire quote in advance to avoid any problems releasing the vehicle to me when it is completed (the repair cost was relatively small in terms of body work). For the next several days both the body shop and myself tried to reach Martin with none of the texts or voicemails getting answered. When I reached him he was upset that a deposit was required and was unwilling to pay the total in advance. On a follow-up call he told me the deposit was taken care of. The morning I dropped off the car the body shop told me the deposit still was not paid. I got Martin on the phone and he personally came to the body shop in anger. He had a position that he has a special relationship with the body shop and didn't think he should pay anything in advance but eventually put the 50% deposit down. On the service paperwork I wrote "to be paid by Affordable Tire and Auto Service" and kindly asked Martin to initial it. To this he became irate and totally refused to put anything in writing. Eventually he stormed out saying "I ain't signing nothing!" In shock at these events, I had to go sit in my car to decide what to do. With the past as a guide, I can only expect further frustration dealing with Martin and it's not worth the hassle. I profusely apologized to the staff at the body shop and left with my van. With Martin's unwillingness to put the agreement in writing I am forced to explore either small claims court or start an insurance claim which will seek damages on their business liability coverage. It's worth mentioning in this saga that the repair estimate was not very high, about the same amount I paid Affordable Tire to get four brakes done. This makes it particularly sad because my motivation was not to recoup money, it was to give them an opportunity to make things right and hopefully continue using their service. Lo and behold a few miles later, we see the sign for Tower Tire. Figured it was worth a shot. We walked in, I explained the situation and they immediately got me into a bay to examine. Meanwhile my kids and wife waited in the office and the lady at the front desk (I wish I could remember her name, sorry!) even went out of her way to find the exact show my kids asked for on the TV. They also took them into the back and let them watch the technicians replace the tire. They inspected the other tires and I was fully expecting them to tell me I need 3 more as well, as I have experienced that up-selling before. But, they were HONEST and let me know my others were good and all we needed was the one new tire. I even had a work call and was being given information on the phone and before I could ask, she has a pen and paper for me to take down what I needed to remember! We were in and out in 30 minutes and back onto vacation mode. Huge thank you to Tower Tire for going above and beyond, great customer service, honest technicians and office staff. DO NOT GO HERE. THEY'RE DISHONEST!…read more I will NEVER visit this shop again. I bought a tire here about a month ago. Today, I brought that tire back because it had a nail in it and needed to be repaired. The technician patched the nail hole, but while working on my tire, HE BLEW A HOLE IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PART OF THE TIRE! Then they made ME PAY FOR ANOTHER TIRE because of damage that happened to my tire while it was in THEIR SHOP! DO NOT GO HERE. THEY LOST MY BUSINESS PERMANENTLY. UPDATE: It somehow got worse. After I had already PAID for the replacement tire and walked outside to get into my car, the manager came outside behind me calling my name. I ignored him because, at that point, I had already paid for the tire and was leaving. He followed me outside, walked up to me and said, "I saw your negative review." He then got in my face, became aggressive with me, and called me an "old bad man" because I was ignoring him. Yes, at that point I cursed him out. He then told me that if I hadn't had a "bad attitude," he MAY have helped me. Helped me HOW? I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR THE TIRE AND WAS GETTING INTO MY CAR! If he intended to resolve the situation, why did he wait until AFTER I had paid and was leaving, and AFTER he had seen my negative review, to approach me? I do not know this manager's name, but I will be contacting ownership about his behavior. A manager following an upset customer outside after the transaction is over, telling the customer he saw his negative review, getting in his face, insulting him, and then claiming he might have helped him if he had a better attitude is completely unacceptable. And here's the final part that really got me: I specifically asked them to check the pressure in ALL FOUR of my tires before I left. I drove away with my tire pressures at: 40 PSI -- 31 PSI -- 32 PSI -- 31 PSI The tire at 40 PSI was the NEW tire they had just installed. My vehicle's tires are not supposed to be inflated over 36 PSI. So after I specifically asked them to check all four tires, they let me leave with one tire at 40 PSI and the other three at 31-32 PSI. This entire experience--from damaging my tire, making me pay for the replacement, the manager confronting me outside after seeing my negative review, and then sending me away with uneven tire pressures--was completely unacceptable. I will NEVER spend another dollar at this business, and I will be contacting ownership.
