Off the path locals spot. Food was good. Wine was good. Enjoyed the desert. Staff was nice. Lots of locals while we were there. Almost didn't think they were open. Glad we checked the door as we were early. read more

They started us off with a complimentary Prosecco and a little portion of bean soup. So welcoming! My partner ordered the Ravioli with fresh shaved truffles and I tried their potato gnocchi with fabulous cherry tomatoes. It may be my favorite meal in four weeks of traveling around Italy. Claudio, the chef came by and we talked about the restaurant business and he even recommended a Mexican restaurant in Palm Desert which we will try. Finished with a special concoction of cocoa powder milk and two other ingredients that made for a nice digestivo. You can sit outside if you prefer

It is on a nondescript street, down a few steps into a delightful small and cozy cave-room. You really need a reservation to be guaranteed a table. Peeking out from the small kitchen window is the cook/wife/owner and greeting us and taking our order was the husband/owner. They are a team that really cares about the service and doing simple Italian food right! And the house wine was really good!

Good meaning with local produce finely cooked and warm service. You can't go to Italy and not demand that. Well, this "Locanda" fits the description. As an aside, remember this: a hotel is a place where you go sleep that may have something to eat. A Locanda is a place where you go eat that does have somewhere to sleep. I didn't try one of their five rooms but the restaurant was outstanding. Silvia is a fine scout of unique local produce, carefully picking meats (coniglio in porchetta) and fish (the anguilla from the Lake Trasimeno nearby is a must)... Her husband is a fine sommelier and maintains a carte of the best local and organic wines (note that those three adjectives seldom go hand in hand). They do things with their heart here and it's good for your soul and palate. Excellent place.

It tasted so so fresh, the crust was light, the olive oil was stupendous, the cheese and meat incredible. I couldn't find a pizza anywhere else like in in my travels and I will be going back to Perugia just to stop by here again.

But the city has a easily accessible public lots that are within walking distance. It looks like there are two entrances to the restaurant. We used the one farthest one the right. I LOVED the mood here. Decorated with books, wine bottles, and tasteful nudes. And THE FOOD HERE OMG. Definitely not all typical Italian food. It is so innovative and delicious. We ordered the land tasting menu and the vegetarian tasting menu. For only 32 and 30 Euro, respectively, these meals were a steal. Especially considering they are the same standards as tasting menus costing well over 100. My favorite was a beetroot spaghetti with lime zest. I would travel here just for that dish. We were recommended a local red wine. Also a steal at 4 Euro per glass. The staff operated so smoothly and efficiently. Though they all seemed to do things a little differently. Some were careful to explain each of our dishes, while it was clear others were a little grumpy - however this in no way impacted our experience.
