Been here a few times and it was OK, but this time after being seated, no service for an unreasonable amount of time. We were then told the kitchen was backed up and there would be a slight delay, which was fine. No food for over 45 minutes and told the server/bartender we had to leave. She said wait a sec and went into the kitchen and brought our food COLD. Had wings and the sauce was barely on any wing, which I pointed out. The response I got for cold food not prepared correctly was the kitchen is backed up, not "sorry" or anything to make it better. Where was a manger checking on tables, people, or the kitchen? No wonder the FL Today food review of this place was sooooooo bad. read more

The only thing good about this place was the flavor of the food. It took a long time to be acknowledged and to get seated, a long time to get drinks, a VERY LONG TIME to get our food and half of it was cold. Our waitress (Susan) seemed very overwhelmed although they seemed only moderately busy. When it came time for our bill we had already been there nearly a couple of hours and we couldn't figure out why it was taking her so long. We stood up and she finally came rushing with the bills and apologized, then mixed up our bills, couldn't find my credit card and seemed flustered. the waitress was friendly and the appetizers were decent but my boyfriend got the monte cristo sandwich and inside was rotten meat and the bread in between was soggy. shrimp tacos were horrible, a pile of grease and the avocado slices were rotten. This is my first review but the service was so bad that I had to write a review to warn others. I'll start with the positive and say that 95% of the time the food is good and usually arrives quickly. Unfortunately that is their only redeeming quality. Their TVs are out of sync and it wouldn't normally be a big deal, but they have them all right next to each other and have the same thing playing so it's incredibly easy to get annoyed by it. Still I can overlook this, but I know my girlfriend cannot so other people might not as well. As for the customer service portion, most of the time the waiters/waitresses can be nice but during busy times it could be 15 minutes before you even get your drink order. Other times they can seem like they don't care and take it out on the customers. But you're probably thinking oh I'll just order online and avoid the TVs, long waits and terrible service. Now now my friend that would normally be a good idea but this is another con for this restaurant. My girlfriend ordered takeout online for us while I was out and about and I was going to pick it up. When I arrived the food wasn't ready. No big deal. I was early anyway. So the hostess told me I can go ahead and pay for it so I did, not knowing my girlfriend had already paid because she didn't tell me. But that shouldn't matter anyway because it should say on the order slip that the order was already paid for. So we will say it's half my fault, and half the hostess' fault. But I'm the customer so it's not really my fault. So when I got home and told my lady that I paid and this is where the confusion kicked in. So she tried to call to get a refund for either one of our cards (keep in mind we waited a couple of days to make sure the charge posted to our accounts before calling in case they realized they made a mistake and cancelled the transaction. They must've realized something because they didn't even add my tip that I had given them on the receipt). So, when my girlfriend told the manager that I had accidentally paid too the manager said "well why did he do that" in a rude and condescending manner making it seem like it was all my fault and of course she replied "because your worker told him to pay???" I'm pretty sure if any of you were in my situation where the hostess told you to pay for something that at the time you were unaware was already paid for, you would pay for it. You wouldn't just walk out with free food. After this she gives the manager the last 4 of both of our cards and he said he will look into it and call us back. 4 days go by with no callback so we call him and he said he looked into it but could only find her charge but not mine and they needed my receipt. First of all, thanks for the callback (sarcasm). Second of all, I didn't have the receipt because by this point it was almost 2 weeks ago. So the manager said there was nothing he could do because he couldn't find a receipt on their end and we didn't have one on our end. All we were trying to do was get one of us reimbursed for being double charged but the manager was being completely rude about it and was blowing us off. I'm sure people try to do this illegitimately but we were not and I could've even brought in a statement from my bank to prove it but they only wanted the receipt. Needless to say that we will not be going back to this location. We have no problem driving an extra 3 minutes to the Cape Canaveral location because they do have good food. Which is why I gave them 2 stars. read more

Went to Gators for the 1st time to support an animal rescue fundraiser and arrived on Sat. at 5:15 p.m. We were seated quickly & greeted reasonably quickly. However it took 45+ minutes to get our food. The brisket was dry, and we asked for sauces, which took very long in coming. The waitress was also working tables across the restaurant and did not stop by our table much. We did flag down the manager & let him know that we wanted more drinks & sauces. We ended up at the restaurant for almost 2 hrs by the time we were able to pay. We told the manager how disappointing the wait & service was. He said the place was crowded & busy, and we could not expect it to be like Chick-fil-A! No it was not like Chick-fil-A, as the food is better there. We work really close by, so I know plenty of people (including myself) that have frequented here since they've opened. Progressively, I've heard more people stating that they won't be back. Today....I know why. A co-worker and I went for lunch, each ordering a salad. The service was barely existent, and we were there for an hour & fifteen minutes. The food is just ok, especially considering prices. So when you go on your lunch hour & spend this kind of time, it doesn't add up to a return visit. The kicker...they apparently allow non-service animals at the tables. Seeing as how I saw the manager multiple times walk by the table without saying anything, tells me they have no policy. Additionally, when the couple with the dog moved from their table to a booth, the waiter never wiped down the table (just moved their stuff). So, the poor lady that sat there next was eating on a surface that the other lady let her dog put his face on. Lastly, I've seen several reviews complaining about the price of ranch/blue cheese with wings. Try ordering an $11 salad & being charged for ranch dressing on the side. Nickel & diming your customers is not good business. read more

The environment of this place is awesome! Their food and service is excellent. I can watch any current sports game and enjoy my meal at the same time. It is a bonus that there are charging stations at the booths! I don't have to worry about my phone dying. This is a perfect environment for game day, or any day in general. read more

My two boys and I really enjoy coming into Gators. We enjoy coming in on Saturday mornings. They have a great variety for the kids, even though they always order the same thing. The food has always been good, and the menu changes slightly throughout the year. The recurring weekly specials are really a good deal too. read more

In town for a family event and suggested Gators Dockside for lunch based on Yelp and I have to tell you we were all very surprised because we expected an average sports bar and found not only the food to be exceptional but the young staff to be the same. Was in Melbourne last week with a friend and we stopped in at Gators Dockside for dinner. We had never been there before and did not know what to expect. The hostess sat us on the patio and right away our server Kristen came over, greeted us and took our drink order. She told us about the specials and we asked for a few minutes to decide. When she came back we placed our order. We shared the mussels marinara as an appetizer, my friend ordered the Moho pork tacos and I had the fried haddock sandwich. All the food was delicious and the service was excellent! Kristen, our server was great! She kept checking to see if we needed anything and was cheerful, friendly and helpful. She helped make it an enjoyable evening. If we come back through Melbourne again we hope to stop in and hopefully have Kristen as our server. read more

I visited Gators today for the 2nd time. Last week was great. Sat at the bar. Service was great. Food was great. Solid 4 Stars. Today, we sat in the bar area but not at the actual bar. Service was slow. They were busy but not what I'd call super busy. Service was slow. Food was great again. The issue for us was the fact that there were 2 Managers working. One Manager was attentive and all over helping. We had to call him over to get another round of drinks because our waitress was tied up at a table of 14. It was understandable why she was so busy and unable to keep up. After waving at the Manager, he immediately came over and took our order for another round of drinks. I'd guess it was a solid 15 minutes, if not longer before we got those drinks. The second Manager spent 95% of his time talking to a girl at the end of the bar. That is not any exaggeration. We were there a good 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Had he been helping out instead of chatting, maybe service would have been better. It was frustrating to watch when we had to wait so long to order and receive our 2nd and 3rd rounds of drinks. We love this place and love the food but a huge improvement could be made if the social Manager would have actually been working instead of playing social hour the majority of the time. OH! Almost forgot. WE WERE CHARGED EXTRA FOR TARTER SAUCE for fried shrimp?!?! What restaurant does this?!?! NONE I've EVER been to. I just read the reviews for this place. Soooooo many negative reviews about service so obviously Management doesn't care. I guess my review was a waste of my time. UPDATE.... I ordered Wingerz to go. Cooked today. Barely any sauce on them. We took them up on the offer of a comped meal. This time we sat at the bar. Very happy to say our experience was like it normally is, which is outstanding. The bartender provided both excellent service and was a pleasant person to chat with. The manager came out and chatted with us at length too. He mentioned that our previous server was studying late the night before and came in against his advice to stay home and rest. We emphasized the need to not tolerate brats in any establishment. A place could serve the best food...but dealing with subpar service...there are definitely much better options!! It is unfortunate. I held off on reviewing this place on Yelp. No more...even after speaking to a couple managers, nothing has changed...feels like I've had lip service!! ...maybe others have had more positive experiences. Was sat by the door greeter who let me know quick it was Wing night all you can eat wings. I was excited first time here and can go for the all you can eat well my waitress said that it starts at 6 and I could not get them because it was 5:40pm. Ordered mac and cheese burger it had no flavor we informed manager about the wing situation and he apologized and gave us 25 gator bucks and he stated he has coached his waiters and waitresses to go ahead and put wings in for the special if so close. My family and I ate at Gators Dockside for the first time this evening. We had a 40 minute wait, but expected it as they just opened. Once seated, we were promptly greeted by our awesome server, Nicole who was very sweet & bubbly! Everything we ordered was great...I had the Turkey Burger, my sons had the Mac & Cheese Burger and my husband had the Bayou Po Boy. There were many flat screen TVs lining the walls; all playing various sports channels. The atmoshphere was typical for a sports bar. If I could give this place zero stars i would! My girlfriend and I love going to Gator Dockside in Baldwin Park. When we saw one open up around the corner in Melbourne we were so excited! Finally we decide to go out to lunch at the Melbourne location. When we got there it was beautiful inside. It seemed bigger then the Baldwin park location. When we sat down we got our drinks right away. I had a mountain dew and my girlfriend had a water. We browsed the menu and our waitress took about twenty five minutes to come back to check up on us. We didn't mind we were deciding what we wanted for lunch. When we placed our order my girlfriend ordered a cocktail from the bar and we ordered our appetizer which was gator tail. We also put in our entree order since we decided what we wanted for lunch. We waited for about forty minutes wondering where the cocktail was. Our waitress came over and said "Not going to lie to you. I forgot the drink at the bar. I told the bartender to make a fresh one." We were a little upset now that forty minutes passed by and she just remembered the drink. We waited another thirty minutes for the drink to come out before my girlfriend walked over to the bar and talked to the bartender. The bartender told her that the drink order was never passed on to him. So after waiting for a hour and ten minutes with no drink or even the appetizer out yet I requested to talk to the manger. Once the manger came out to talk to us I advised him of what has been going on. The manager then told me it was the waitress last day and that he was sorry and "shouldn't of put her on the floor to wait on tables today because she doesn't care." He offered to pay for the whole bill and he can pack it to go for us. It was a nice gesture , but we were already upset and just wanted to leave. This has to be by far the WORST dinner experience Iv ever had! I would recommend the Orlando locations. It will be worth your drive so your not feeling invisible.
