This is a very popular, iconic eatery in the area and gets busy. The atmosphere and ambiance is quite unique and like nothing I'd ever seen before. A very eclectic scene, the indoor and outdoor area is full of artwork, plants, and even stuff like old planes, buses, etc. There is truly nothing like it elsewhere! They offer both sit down and takeout options. You can opt for takeout and find seating in the takeout area or you can receive dine-in services. I recently dined here during move in--it was EXTREMELY busy and I would recommend going during times where mass amounts of students and their families aren't in town. We ended up putting our names down on the sit-down list and were told to expect up to a 1.5hr wait for the three of us. Although I ended up receiving a text about 50min later that our table was ready. The service was just ok. They were clearly swamped, but I was expecting them to handle this a little better considering they are used to this. We ended up being seated outside and ordered immediately. To start, we got the Satch Salad with ham and for our pizza we ordered the large 18" pie with pepperoni, ricotta, and basil. The Satch salad is highly regarded featuring red and green leaf lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, apples, a hint of finely diced red onion, Romano cheese, freshly diced tomatoes, a sprinkle of almonds, sunflower seeds, and pecan pieces, tossed in a secret house vinaigrette. The small salad, which feeds up to four, was quite large and the perfect size for the three of us. The salad had ample amounts of toppings, but it honestly was just ok. The dressing didn't have a prominent flavor, which was disappointing because so many people rave about it. We received our pizza at least an hour later. The wait was very, very long and honestly too long for what we received. The pie was large, with plenty of pepperoni and ricotta, but it just wasn't very balanced. It was so heavy, with so much sauce you couldn't even pick it up and eat it by the slice (had to use a fork and knife). Now I will say the sauce had great flavor, but there was way too much of it. It was also hard to taste the elements of the pie due to it being served straight from the oven and being extremely hot. The "buttery crust" many people mention wasn't very buttery and was just like average pizza crust. Not to mention, the pizza was burnt on the bottom and clearly overcooked. I was really surprised at how mediocre this pizza was after hearing so many fabulous things about it. Nothing was comped for our long wait either--which wasn't expected because everyone was waiting this long for their food too. Overall, Satchel's didn't blow my mind and fell very flat to me. The atmosphere is certainly memorable and very unique. I appreciated the fun, hippy-like vibe with all the various nick-nacks, but the food wasn't my favorite. The salad was just ok and the infamous dressing didn't have much flavor. The wait for the pizza was insane, especially considering the execution of it. I understand part of my not-so-great experience is due to the time in which we decided to dine here. I would definitely like to return to get a better judgement of the food and service. Not all the pizzas seemed to be the same either--I noticed pies with less toppings (or lighter toppings) had much less sauce, thin, and eatable by the slice. So I am not adverse to coming here again, I'd actually really like to because I don't think my experience was the best representation of what this restaurant is known for!

Located in the 4th Ave Food Park, this is a to-go type of eatery. Although they offer plenty of outdoor seating in the food park. The pizzas are all 8x10in pies that are cooked in a deep dish square pan. The cheese goes down on the dough first then the sauce, this creates super crispy, buttery edges. The menu is simple and they have their own specialty pizzas or you can opt to create your own with the dozens of toppings they have. Some of their pies are super unique and definitely worth a try. The service is great and super friendly. Food is freshly made to order and comes out in roughly 20min, but the wait can be longer depending on how busy they are. I love the Motor City Pizza and that is usually my go-to. But this time their special caught my eye and I opted for that per the workers suggestion. The "Spuddy Holly" pie features potatoes, garlic, onion, bacon, diced jalapeños, cheddar cheese, and a side of ranch. This was essentially a loaded potato pizza and it was delicious! The pie didn't have red sauce, but instead had a garlicky sauce, topped with generous amounts of the toppings. The potatoes were very flavorful and balanced well throughout the pizza. The bacon was smoky and paired well with the sharpness of the cheddar and slight sweetness of the diced onions too. I'm not a ranch girl, but it was the perfect addition to this pie and really completed it! I was honestly surprised with how good this was and would recommend trying it if it is still on the menu. If you have not been to SquareHouse I highly recommend going. The pizzas are so good and very filling. I have truly never had a disappointing visit here and I am always left fully and satisfied! I cannot wait for my next visit and I look forward to trying more on their menu.l!

I ordered via the internet about ten minutes before I arrived. They were very busy when I arrived. When I advised my order it appeared as if they were just pulling it off a printer and starting the order. I was there another 25 minutes. You don't really have any ambiance. I don't think it matters much because people don't eat their pizza there. But staring at the boxes, the workers and the advertisements is pretty boring, especially if you are waiting 30 minutes. Ordering on line was not as easy as it should have been. Having never eaten your pizza before, I didn't want to provide a lot of personal data. I just wanted to sign in as a guest picking up pizza. It would have been easier and faster to call it in. So this would have been a 5 star review if I had called it in and didn't have to wait upon arrival.

We opted to try the pizza we got a prosciutto pizzs and the athena pizza Both were very rich in taste and ingredients. We all ended up bringing some leftovers home. Definietely worth the visit!! We ordered several pizzas (1 garlic 16", 1 two-topping 12" with prosciutto + roasted garlic, 1 Hawaiian 12", 1 pita pizza with ham) plus ravioli fritti appetizer and steak pesto. Pizzas were excellent , steak was soft / medium well as I requested, and ravioli was deliciously crunchy - a crowd pleaser. The others had never tried Scuola before and now they'll all be back for the great food , friendly service, as well as chill ambiance of the place. Highly recommend visiting during lunch time since it's not too crowded and still quiet enough to hear one another at a table. The owner stopped by our table before we left and graciously offered to take a photo for us so thank you for that. Always a pleasure to meet the management. Pricing was fair considering the large portions and quality of the food. We had separate checks so our share of the food (including a to go order of Chicken Souvlaki and Kokkinisto!) was about $125 with generous tip. Free parking lot outside the restaurant is shared but there were still many spots to choose from. We'll certainly be back again ^_^ !!

One thing is always consistent: generous portions, great prices, friendly staff, and a welcoming family atmosphere. The service yesterday was excellent, and the staff were as friendly as ever. There's a lot to love here, from the great garlic bread and generous servings to the excellent wine selection. We even took advantage of a great price on a bottle of Chianti. And if you haven't noticed, they also sell olive trees! We ordered several dishes. The veal Parmesan was enormous, easily enough for another meal. The wings were tasty, although a little on the dry side. I had the grilled salmon with vegetables and broccoli. Unfortunately, this was where things fell short. The salmon was nicely seasoned but overcooked, leaving it somewhat spongy and dry. I had specifically requested broccoli as my vegetable side, along with an extra side of broccoli and a salad. Instead, the dish arrived with a medley of oversteamed, mushy vegetables. That said, I don't want one disappointing meal to overshadow the many good experiences we've had here. We genuinely love this restaurant. The atmosphere, friendly service, generous portions, wine selection, and reasonable prices keep us coming back. Just an off night in an otherwise great neighborhood restaurant. We'll definitely be back!
