This shopping center and condo complex fits the definition of "mixed use" with a few Big Box stores…read moreand some restaurants and some offices and some living spaces (not sure if condos or apartments). I have been here a number of times, usually to hit up Trader Joe's but there's also a nice Best Buy (that does auto installations), Pisces all-you-can-eat sushi, Lost Worlds Brewing, and now 3rd & Fernwood which was my destination today (Yelp elite event!). There's bunches more of retail and restaurants. The tall parking deck worked well on a quiet midweek evening but during the holiday shopping season, it will be a real challenge. The deck is clean, well lit and I did see security on patrol. As always, be aware of your surroundings especially in or near the elevators and stairwells. I did not bring the Sprinter as there is a low height clearance. Two good access points from Kings Drive and Charlottetowne Avenue have traffic lights. Speaking of retail, we tend to visit Trader Joe's the most...but there are other big stores, like Marshall's and Best Buys. Now, there used to be some cool boutiques here, but I don't recall seeing them recently (possibly closed due to Covid?). Probably the coolest feature of this strip is this little alleyway with a great patio dining...with clear views to Uptown Charlotte. Recently, they've installed this fun Umbrella Alley" display...colorful umbrellas suspended in mid-air. Think it's a temporary exhibition? In any case, there's always something cool to do and see here at The Met...and despite the long drive from where we live, we tend to go here quite often. Guess it's worth it?

Not to be confused with the Creepycentre, which is only open on Halloween…read more It's pretty Epic at the Epic-centre. I love coming here, and do so every single time I'm in Charlotte on a weekend night, which is often lately. Very appropriately named because this really is the epicenter of Charlotte. It's lively and fun and modern and futuristic and pretty amazing. The whole multi-level palace is filled with hot people and scandalously dressed people, especially on warm nights. I made some nice friends around here (of both genders, for a change). It is the heartbeat of downtown Charlotte and a very non-traditional party area. Sort of like a party area of the future. If a mall had an older, drinking crowd and was outdoors and full of clubwear then this would be it. For this reason we love walking around here, even though parking is extremely difficult here on Friday and Saturday nights, so be careful. We've actually parked illegally and gotten away with it on several occasions, but I wouldn't recommend that to others. Lots of cops around here so don't do anything stupid. The design means that if somebody crazy decided to commit suicide, or if there was a fist fight, then it would be very easy from the higher levels to plunge down a long, long way, and there's a lot of people wandering in the courtyard below, so that worries me a tiny bit, and what about the very very drunk people leaning against the railings with a 100 foot drop down onto concrete asphalt right below them. It does worry me slightly but it's still an absolutely wonderful place.

There's a few places to eat here and a cigar lounge that looks cool. Other than that..... don't…read moreplan your day around this place. It's dirty, half empty, and I'm surprised the tenants there make any money. This review IS NOT a reflection of the individual businesses. Since I love all things mall I definitely love the Overstreet Mall. This little mall consist of…read moreshopping, doctors offices, barber shops beauty salons and restaurants. It tucked inside a few of the large buildings downtown and connect them all on one level. Not sure where you would technically say is starts but for me It begins in the Wachovia building (I think it truthfully starts in the BB and T building but I can't leave these few shops out in the Wachovia building) and continues all the way to the Hearst Tower. I have visited a lot of the shops and the restaurant inside. It's an escape from the elements outside and a cool thing to see. However on the weekends it's a ghost town. The mall caters to the working/ business people downtown. On the weekends only the section in the Bank of America plaza is open and only Walgreens and the lobby of the Omni seem to be open. There is security walking around though. There are several different entrances and exits for the mall. You can walk towards other building in the area and there are tons of tunnels and walkways that connect you to different restaurants and shops in those building. Went to "Overstreet Mall" last weekend (4/14) and it is that in name only. As with any and all…read moreshopping in Uptown Charlotte, it is long since dead and gone. The only thing open in this "mall" was a Walgreen's in the BofA building, none of the passageways were open nor did any of the nearby hotel employees even know they existed. Apparently all there is to do in Uptown is eat or drink, as there is a wealth of great restaurant and bar options, but there is no retail whatsoever. None. Really and truly sad because it's such a beautiful city, but unless you're looking for a bar or restaurant crawl, or to watch one of the local sports teams lose, you'll have to go elsewhere.

One day on Facebook, an ad popped up for this place and I realized what I thought it was and what it actually was is completely different. This place is a treasure chest. One that you will need ample time and patience for. This business of full of rows of bins of returns from amazon. Depending on the day, determines how much your treasure finds are. No matter what you find this is what You pay for one item: Monday $4 Tuesday $3 Wednesday $2 Thursday $2 Friday $6 Saturday $5 Bring plastic gloves. You'll be digging through bins and items. You'll thank me for this. Some of the items are in boxes and you can't tell what the item looks like. Don't open at the bin. You can bring any item to an opening station, and they will open for you. They restock and replenish on Friday & Saturday - hence the higher price tag. Our best find has been two hydro flask for $3 each. But we've purchased portable chargers, skin care items, collagen peptides, coffee, face masks, blankets, comforters and so much more. All from their bins. They do have a shoe area and other items not located in the bins. Those items are Priced as Marked. If you have some spare time and enjoy a good find, then this place is for you.
