Most of the owners I've seen here are really irresponsible…read more The park itself is pretty good. It's just the bad owners that make my experience at this park miserable. I've gone here almost every day for the last 6 months, and whenever the weather got nice, there would be a bunch of people coming out to enjoy the weather and socialize. The issue is, they tend to forget about their dogs while they look at their phone, chat with their friends, or even flirt with someone *sigh*. Folks, if you go to ANY dog park, I sincerely implore you to: * KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR DOG 100% of the time, or aim for as close to 100% of the time as possible. If you are engrossed in your phone or flirting with that handsome stranger, you are not seeing that your dog just growled at another dog for no good reason. Or you just miss the part where your dog pooped near the fence, and then someone else would inevitably step on it and spend a good 10 minutes cleaning it off of their shoes. *sigh* * Please SCOOP YOUR DOG'S POOP. "I didn't see it" is not a good enough excuse. Again, you should keep an eye on your dog most of the time (see first point above). * Please FILL IN ANY HOLES YOUR DOG DUG. Otherwise some poor person is gonna step into the hole and twist their ankle. * Please DON'T BRING CHILDREN unless you are 100% sure they know how to interact with dogs appropriately AND you keep an eye on your kids AND your dog 100% of the time. The dog park is NOT a playground for kids. I've seen parents bring their toddlers, let them sit on the ground, and then when a friendly dog approached the kids to say hi, they shove the dog away (???). Dude, when you come to the dog park, be prepared to interact with a dog, okay? Also, realistically, how do you plan to monitor your toddler AND your dog at the same time? If your kid AND your dog are really well trained, maybe it could work, but most parents that come with kids and dogs usually just fail at either monitoring their kids or their dogs. * If your dog plays inappropriately / aggressively, please correct them AND TEACH THEM TO STOP THAT BEHAVIOR. Biting is NOT the only inappropriate behavior. Humping is also inappropriate, since many dogs don't like being humped. Pushing other dogs to the ground, cornering other dogs and not letting them move or get up, growling at other dogs simply because they are nearby, .... those are all BULLYING behaviors and need to stop. I'm not saying your dog is bad. But if your dog does the above, you need to be the responsible owner, step in, and teach your dog to be polite. If your dog behaves inappropriately, one day it might meet a dog that takes it the wrong way, and before you know it, a dog fight ensue. PREVENTION IS KEY, people. Oh yeah, and please read the park rules. They are posted at the gate. Seriously, read the rules and follow them, people. They are meant to keep people and pets safe. 1 recent review said the dog park is really clean recently. Dude, you know why? It's because I started picking up the extra poop EVERY TIME I go to the park, and I've been doing it for months now. Yep, I pick up after OTHER PEOPLE's dogs, because I figure if the park is filled with poop, other people will think "oh we don't have to pick up poop. No one does." So I just do more than my share and pick up the extra poop anyway. But my patience is running thin. So please, all of you, start stepping up and doing the right thing. Train your dog, pick up after it, and get your nose off of your phone while you are at the dog park. Exasperatedly yours, frequent dog park goer

Had high hopes for the Paw Park. Our dog loves to run around and chase and be chased. However, this…read morepark was one big pile of dog-doo. There were maybe 10 other dogs, so the place is popular. But you couldn't walk around without dodging piles. I watched one small dog do his business right up close to the gate were most people were standing, and no one made a move to clean up. We had to cross 20 yards of a minefield to clean up after ours. I plan to contact the city to try and get my $5 donation back I put in the slot. It is possible that the condition is related to weather (big snow melt, late winter), but still inexcusable for the other owners. If you go, be a decent human being and clean up after your pet.
