UChealth family medical center on pennock place has absolutely set the standard for what medical institutions should strive for, and they exceed that standard every time. From the receptionists, nurses, and physicians, there is not a single person there that I have had anything short of a pleasant experience with. They are attentive, caring, understanding, and do everything they can to make you feel comfortable. My primary physician Dr Blake Volkmer is one of the kindest, friendliest, understanding and capable physicians I have ever come across and despite just being a first year resident, Dr. Volkmer upholds the standard that which aspiring physicians should strive for. If I could go to this clinic once a week just to hang out and talk to the people who work there, I would. Im only going to be living in Fort Collins until I graduate from CSU, and no matter where life takes me, UChealth family medical center will be the standard in the process of finding new medical care, every single time.

No "sorry we're busy we'll be with you soon." Nothing. Walked out. I must ask: Why have an online scheduling system when you ignore the schedule? Not very urgent care...

In the car on the way back, an artery in my nose spontaneously combusted. I navigated my way home, swallowing far too much blood, and waited for the endless stream to cease. After over an hour it did. The next morning, I placed a call to the virtual doctor to ask his opinion which was a quick "get to the emergency room". Me, being a smart, sensible (i.e. not able to afford an ER visit) woman, decided to call around and found this Urgent Care in Longmont (30 miles away from where I live) under my insurance coverage who said they'd be able to get me a pack and possibly cauterize my nose if need be. I leapt for joy, which started the flow from my nose yet again, hopped into the car (kindly driven by my fiancé) and started the trek south. There were plenty of cars in the parking lot full of people waiting for their drive-up COVID tests. I called the front where they asked if I was showing any symptoms (I wasn't) or had been exposed to anyone (I haven't) and was directed in to the lobby. After paying an easy $20 co-pay and filling out a form balanced on my knee, one hand glued to my nose, I was taken into a room where they took my heart rate (good), temperature (good) and blood pressure (not good). The doctor came in a few minutes later, had me remove the paper towel so he could watch the torrent, then prepped a pack for my faucet nose - basically, a tampon soaked in Afrin. After explaining what he was about to do and how it would help, he kindly jammed that thing up my nose. I was directed to leave it in for three hours, then gently remove it and hope for the best, or go to the ER if it was still bleeding. Thank goodness it finally ceased! The nurse was a little abrasive and didn't help my panicked blood pressure, but she also told it like it is, which I have learned to appreciate. The front desk was misinformed about the possibility of cauterization, so I was frustrated that they stated something that wasn't true, but overall not a big deal. Five stars for the doctor, his great sense of humor, wonderful explanation of details and shoving something up my nostril to keep me from bleeding out. Hoping to never have to visit this place again, but if the need arises, I'll happily drive the 60 miles round trip!

No one at the nursing station, took over an hour to get a call light answered. Then Aaron the charge nurse yelled at myself and my sister in the hallway. He was trying to state the rules but in the rudest and unprofessional way, his face was bright red and clearly already in an agitated state. My father was in a serious accident and we as family are stressed and sleep deprived, I would think that a nurse would have the professionalism to speak to families in a respectful and caring way. Aaron did not, as someone who works in health care, I would never have someone like Aaron representing my facility. My father's call light was on for over an hour and no one came in, but Aaron is concerned about how many people are in the room, and that I did try to go through an door that someone excited that was connected to the unit, but did not. I did not think it was that big of an issue since the doors go to the same unit, however do understand why it would be an issue. Aaron could have approached the situation in a more professional way and spoken to myself and my sister like adults and not children. I am even more concerned that a nurse would show his agitation towards a family, how are the patients treated? Does he get irritated with them? I am also concerned that I was told I would be kicked out and not be allowed back, so now feel I cannot bring up concerns. The one is only due to the step down unit. The trauma unit and ICU would get 5. However, one person can ruin something.

Credit to the attending physician's assistant, who made the right diagnosis: BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo). Basically it's crystals rattling around in your inner ear where they're not supposed to be. A physical therapist was supposed to treat it. Instead, he did his own tests and decided that it wasn't BPPV because BPPV is supposed to be brief. So no treatment, only a recommendation to see an ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat doc). This all took 5-1/2 hours, and then my wife was sent home. Her vertigo resumed on the way home and continued the next day. So, I watched a total of 3 YouTube videos, then did my own Dix-Hallpike test, which was positive for a problem with her right ear. She did the Epley Maneuver, and it fixed her vertigo (several days now, no more symptoms). We'll be getting a large bill from the hospital, but they didn't fix anything. Instead engaging in side quests, they should focus exclusively on hiring the best people, training them well, and delivering high quality medical care at reasonable cost.
