Do not finance a car here you will regret it! Sold me two raggedy cars the first one the tires and rims were bent I had to replace all the tires and rims on there found out it had been in an accident!!!! Which really infuriated me Fuel pump went out the first week! This is a a poor excuse of a company, oh you have car issues not our problem EVEN THOUGH yall sold it to me like that. I wasn't even able to drive it due to the repairs! I got behind on the payments trying to come up with the payments for the repairs. Contact your Attorney General and file a complaint against this company if you've had issues... Gateway is a subprime lender. They will constantly lose paperwork, mail letters to the wrong address, not draft auto payments as required, etc., just to repo your car in less than 30 days for "non-payment". When you ask them about the lack of communication, they will threaten you with lawsuits. In addition, you can only make your payments via a live operator; they refuse to mail you statements for you to get your account info to pay any other way. Steer clear of this place! read more

I am not sure why this company has so many bad reviews but i have not had any issues with this company. Over the past year we have had some SERIOUS financial issues and we have fallen behind in our payments a few times. Yes they will call a few times if the payment is not paid BUT thats what any company would do when you owe. Any time we needed to make arrangements we were able to do so without any issues. We have talked to several people and we didn't have any problems. The reps that we talked to has always told us to call them if we need to make arrangements and not just stop communicating with them. We have been dealing with Gateway since 2018 (October). But based on these reviews i guess every person has their own experience. I would recommend the company but i just suggest that you keep all communication open with them. read more

Where do I begin I've read alot of reviews and I now realize I am being lied to and ripped off they do not report payments to your credit report. This is a fact I had my report pulled and this car loan doesnt even exist so ur pretty much doing a buy here pay here.Dont ever move out of state as they cant seem to figure out how to do things electronically like the rest of the country. When I call I'm hung up on and dnt get the call returned I get a nasty little attitude because I need a serious situation resolved that I've been calling about for days. If I dont keep the car I promise they wont ever see another dime from me I'm getting ripped off as it is.Paying for 2 years and owe 3 times the amount the POS is worth dnt do it ppl go thru someone else. Credit Reporting is a joke. Loans are reported as derogatory. I have 7 almost 8 years of experience with this company and would never refer them as a financial agency. 1 vehicle fully paid off, 2nd vehicle is 1000$ from payoff. Not one point gained in over all score. Have a vehicle i financed with a more local agency. APR is better, vehicle worth vs pay off is more reasonable not to mention 75 point rise in over all score in 3 months. Please take your time and look around do NOT bite the bait! Absolutely not. I went to a car place in Manassas VA and they did not tell me any information about the people they were getting my loan through. I just figured it was their preferred bank. If I had known this was a "second chance" sending provider and I was in some type of damn program I would have walked right out and did my research. I would have never have done business with them. They do have a management team who are semi helpful but very condescending. I would not do business with them. I get it your sometimes you may be desperate and you need a car. Obviously making a car payment in time is crucial as each one of my payments have never been late until this pandemic each month since I would call a week or so behind on payments and still make the payment well apparently I missed two payments and now my car has been repoed without any formal notice. i dont have any idea why this company gets such horrible ratings?? ive been behind on my payments ( i was behind on 2 bi weekly payments) and i called and told them about losing my job and just starting a new one, they set up a payment plan, i paid 1 payment then, and they allowed me to pay my other late payment on my next scheduled pay date... (my payments are 196 every 2 weeks, i paid 2 on my next payment date), they could have easily repoed my car... but because i called and told them my situation, they worked with me. i have never once had a bad rep on the phone, and ive never had a problem paying my bill.... maybe the bad reviews are from people not communicating or just not paying?? i will add, my previous track record with them before losing my job, i always paid my payment early. read more

They have been giving me "hell" garnishing me at every job I start over all these Years, they claim I still owe them $8,000. Jan 2021 covid 19 month they garnished me for "$840". I bought a vehicle with a dealer that used gateway financial. At first yes Everything was fine other then the amount that I paid for the vehicle. Made my payments every 2 weeks like I was suppose to, and let me tell you absolutely ridiculous. I paid on time for about a year. I was offered a job in another state. A job that I really couldn't turn down. Two weeks after I got to Texas, the transmission went out on the vehicle. it was going to cost a little over 2 thousand dollars to repair the vehicle. Due to this It meant I wasn't able to make the payment until I came up with the money to pay for the transmission. Problem was I also lost my job due to not having a way back and forth then to work. They called me non stop and I told them the situation, I told them to just come pick the car up and they never did but would get called multiple times a day for payment. It has been 5 years now. I am being sued for more then I paid for the vehicle which is over 17k plus any legal fees. I understand paying your bills, and I pay my bills, but this company is absolutely garbage, the way they handle business. I offered to pay it back and offered to pay 200 a month as that Is all I can afford. I was told that was not enough. They want nearly 500 a month. I have explained to them that would make my kids homeless, or we would have to have utilities turned off. they refuse to work with me. Company is bullshit. Stay clear of them. read more

Stay far away from this place and any company that uses these people for financing! My wife had our son, so after making every payment on time for over a year we called to setup a payment arrangement. They seemed willing to work with us, so we were initially impressed. After not even being a month behind, we received an email that we need to contact them regarding our account. We work overnight, get home and shortly after hear a sound in the driveway the very next morning. They sent a towing company to repossess the car and took it! We were paying over $12,000 for a car with undisclosed flood damage, spray painted paint, bad ball joints and suspension, and fuel and brake lines that were so rusted they were leaking fuel! We have a newborn and a two year old, riding in a car worth maybe $1200 and cannot even pass emissions. Even if I can prevent one person from making the mistake of dealing with these predatory lending companies, I am happy. This will be a huge mistake, on top of the mistake you already made getting a car not worth even 1/10th what you pay! Stay clear! read more

I have gone through GFS 3 times now and they have always worked with me through all of my hardships!! Reasons I didn't rate them 5 stars 1. Super high APR & It would be nice to have access to my COMPLETE account information!! Can't see my account number, or any of their bank credentials (routing number etc.) It would be great to see the information of the bank that receives 20% of my wages per month!!! If I wasn't trying to increase my credit score, as well as them being reasonable enough to finance my vehicle... they probably would not have my business!! I successfully paid 2 vehicles without any missed payments, and still have over 20% APR. Pretty sad considering they have had my business more than once. I'm only grateful because they helped when nobody else would, otherwise, I'm very disappointed. read more

Garbage human beings. Along with the Rightway Automotive folks of 2012-2013 (specifically Mr Cooley) for knowingly taking advantage of people who are barely in the position to pay their way out of (into) debt. The folks at Gateway deserve the same fate as those a-holes at Rightway, bc they know they keep each other safe in the grand scheme of writing loan agreements. My beef is moreso with Rightway, but as I eluded to, that doesn't exonerate Gateway. Like MOST sub-prime lenders, loan agreements are typically written in favor of the lender and they win every time. Even when they lose, they've won. It's downright dishonest to charge people for something they'll never receive. I lost my job because I could not find a way in; the same scenario that brought me to Rightway 3 weeks prior on 12/27/2012). So Gateway shut off my vehicle remotely, not-to-mention, 2 weeks into the loan the timing belt snapped while driving home one day. When I picked up the vehicle from one of (Rightways) suggested locations, I realized they did not replace ANY gaskets while re-assembling the top end of the engine. Smoked like a chimney from then on. And after paying the deductible, Gateway made sure to shut me off before attempting to leave the lot. Real aces. However, after talking it over with them on the phone, they agreed to turn it on so I could continue to fight the good fight. I eventually was left stranded again, 70 miles from home, told them to come get this vehicle (it has broken and stranded my family) they said they'd auction it off and deduct the difference from our balance ($10,000). As of 2010 I owe them over $17,000 for something I do not possess, nor did I, in ANY way, receive anything worthy of 1/4 of the original loan amount. Fyi, it was a 2004 Dodge Caravan with a 4 cyl, bald tires, no windshield squirters, no horn, and I was told I'd be able to trade it in. I soon found that was no part of anybody's agreement, it was a lie to get me into the vehicle.
