I was looking for a legit acupuncturist in the clear lake area when I came across the Acuherb…read moreClinic website and a 'news' article talking about the clinic. The website was very official and comprehensive, and I was impressed that the doctor is trained in both eastern and western medicine. When I showed up to the "Clinic" I was immediately kind of skeezed out. I walked in and there was a woman cutting hair in the main area of the 'shop' where they sell herbs and medicine. just cutting hair randomly out in the open. There is a shampoo bowl and a pedicure chair there too. they also just have alot of old dusty stuff scattered all over the place, random stuff for sale like chinese pearl jewelry, etc, etc. There is also a real estate agent in the office. There is no receptionist. So the three times i've been i just kind of hang out in the main area until the hair cutter notices me and grabs the doc, or i go back to his office area and knock after no one attends to me in a few minutes. The doctor asks you a lot of questions and I believe he is an effective acupuncturist and I was pleased with the service he provided. But the environment that the acupuncture was provided in was kind of weird too. I have been treated in 3 separate areas, once in the doctors office, once in a separate, private treatment room, and then once in this room that just has a curtain in the middle and someone else was receiving some sort of treatment on the other side. They give you towels to wrap yourself in and sometimes they were stained and I didn't feel super comfortable using them. The straw that broke the camel's back was when I showed up for my appointment and the doctor wasn't there. I waited as usual in the weird main area for about 15 minutes, and eventually knocked on the docs office door and apparently he left because he thought our appointment was at 10am. (It wasn't because I have a standing appointment at that time and wouldn't double book). If this clinic made a few changes i'd consider going back but i wasn't comfortable enough to continue treatment there.

I went in last Tuesday in tremendous pain due to my SI joint being out of place. It was affecting…read moremy hips, thigh, knee, ankle and foot plus I was getting tender spots all over - neck, shoulders, sides, etc. I'd seen the chiropractor the week before but that adjustment didn't last long. Dr. Wang spent a bit of time reviewing my new patient forms and then went to work with the needles and cups. I laid on my stomach for an uncomfortable hour or so and walked out still in quite a bit of pain. However, I was doing much better later in the week, so much so that I was able to attend the Houston Food Fest on Saturday and participate in a very active weekend. My next appointment is this afternoon and now we get to focus on the little aches and pains and my lingering chest congestion from a cold I caught weeks ago!! Here's to improving health!!

Dr. Ricks has been helping me for the past few weeks. He's kind, which is most important to me. But…read morehe also listens, has a good sense of humor and the whole office just has a good routine going. Everyone I've met at the office has been nice. When you're already in pain, the best thing is being around nice and helpful people. It's a busy office, but the layout is such that you don't realize how many patients are there. I'm looking forward to progressing in my treatment plan and trying some of the other services available. There is acupuncture, massage therapy, k-taping and they sell a bunch of products in the reception area. They have some holiday specials going right now! And they have Saturday hours, which is how I finally convinced my husband to try chiropractic services for the 1st time! A monumental, epic moment last Saturday in my life! I've been the one he's relied on for decades (yes, decades, together 33 years and still going) to massage his neck and hips, but I'm getting older and it hurts my hands so I can't tell you how thrilled I am that he's started his own treatment program with Dr. Ricks. And so now my adult daughter has decided to try it, too, and has her new patient appt next week. Life is good!!
