I use to be a big fan of Gateway carpets. Bought all my carpeting from them. However they do not stand behind their products. I had an expensive carpet in my dining room/living room. Was only 4 years old. Carpet started shredding for no reason, I have no pets and no small children. They wouldn't do a thing for me. Charged me $75 to reglue it down and that lasted 1 month. I think they could have helped me out more. Wound up ripping up an expensive carpet and putting hardwoods. I wouldn't deal with them anymore. They are under new management and no one seems to be willing to help there. read more

First carpet install was runners on my steps. Amazing amazing job. The carpet is stunning. This was in May, 2017. Fast forward March 2018- the guy Pete who installed my rug(I think his name was Pete) was no longer working due to a back injury. I had purchased shag carpet for 300 sq ft of my basement. They send a third party of guys to do the install. Let me just say the carpet looks like crap and it wasn't installed well. They were nasty the guys who came, speaking Spanish not realizing I'm fluent and understood every second of what they were saying. Basically they were saying hurry up let's get this done she won't know if we don't staple the corners. I called the store expressing my dissatisfaction. For what I paid it was not worth it and now they lost my business forever. The reason I'm writing this review is because I bought a new house and was on the hunt for a carpet place. You really are limited on SI. read more

I had a great experience buying from Gateway Carpet And Flooring. In July 2018 I started the renovations for my basement and needed durable waterproof Vynil floors. I was sold a beautiful line of high quality Vynil floors by Stephen at a great price. The salesmen whom were very friendly and customer-service centric went above and beyond my needs. To top it off, I needed the floors delivered as soon as possible. Mike the owner, personally delivered them to my home so I can meet my basement renovation deadlines. I will definitely use them again in the future for any flooring needs!!!!! read more

Back in 2012 I purchased 2 carpets from them. From start to finish I had an overall great experience. Then in 2015 I purchased another rug for my daughters bedroom. This was another great experience from start to finish. Just like the first time around they were knowledgeable and very friendly as well. They delivered the rug in about the time they said they would and the install was on point. However the last time around had to be the worst experience I ever had with a business. Basically walked in the store asking about some rugs I previously had installed. Gave him my info but he said his system wasn't showing any info on previous orders. He said that I would have to get remeasured. Mind you that's a 100 dollar fee. The salesman was new and everything I asked him he had to check with someone else or he just guessed and gave me false info. He came to do the measurements with another gentleman and needed a tremendous amount of help. He almost had the wrong measurements but the more experienced guy saved us all from disaster. Moving forward we finally decided on the rugs that they would be able to get us. The delivery took more than a month more than they originally told me it would. I would call every 4-6 days asking what the status was on the carpets. They eventually gave me the warehouse number in which they were pretty honest. When I asked about why it was taking so long they said it was a special order coming from overseas. Never told me that from day one!! After waiting a couple of weeks more I called the store irate. When I asked to speak to the salesman it would be he's out to lunch he's off today he's helping someone can I take a message, all that BS. Now I call the warehouse a day or two later and they're like oh we are so sorry, thought we called you already, your rugs are in. Lol. So we set up the delivery and everything seems to be ok at that point. The worst was yet to come. So I didn't pay to have the furniture removed from the rooms because I decided to do it myself and save a little money. Well now I busted my butt and my wife and I removed everything from the two rooms. So now on my day off I waited all day for the delivery only to be told they wouldn't be able to make it. I waited until 7 pm after being told don't worry they will be there twice in that day. The next day I got the same nonsense and was very very upset. So my mom passes away on the 2nd day they were suppose to install the rugs. Now I'm grieving and expecting a lot of family at the house. I go forward and let them come the next day expecting them to bang it out and be done with this. They install one room and all is good. The next room I get a call from the guy that he has a problem. The problem was that the rug wouldn't fit. He told me that it was the end of the roll and it had a 3 inch marking on the seam that was in another color. I then call them up at the store and right away they know it's me, they tell me to speak to Mike who is the owner. After getting his cell # I speak to Mike directly. Initially he comes off as a butt head trying to pin it on the warehouse. He tells me he would re-deliver the correct carpet and That i would wait even longer. I explain to him that the old rug was ripped out and all my stuff is in the hallway and I can barely walk by. And that I also have a house full of people coming over to stay.So after going back and forth we agree on 500 off with the carpet as is. Ok not the end of the world. 3 months later I get a call from some knuckle head while I'm out for my birthday with my wife and kids. He tells me I owe 500 for a unpaid bal on the rugs. I asked why he's calling me 3 months later??? He says that he's the account receivable guy. lol ..He then goes on to say he was looking over some old invoices. After I get really aggravated I look over the invoices once I got home. I add up the deposit and two other payments I made. Then I realize it was the 500 dollars they took off but it wasn't documented. After arguing with him I finally made the point. Ever time I spoke he would say hey buddy take it easy I'm just trying to collect the money owed on the account. Hopefully I never hear from those clowns again !! read more

After searching online and at other Staten Island flooring places for reasonable prices, I tried Gateway Carpet and flooring. They were so patient and so nice from the minute I called them. They were very accommodating and a pleasure to work with. Fred went above and beyond to help me, and all the staff was professional and trustworthy. I got the floor I wanted and it was delivered exactly when I had scheduled. I would definitely recommend them to friends and family. read more

I'm giving Gateway carpet 5 stars because we purchased carpet from them a few months back but wasn't what we ordered! However after hearing our concerns, they helped by correcting the error. It was a miscommunication from the installers. We had our new correct carpet installed today and it's just beautiful! Mike was a great help and we will be returning customers! read more
