Do not come here unless you have insurance. If insurance isn't there to fight for the right charge amount, this shop will over charge you substantially. I have three different points in the below to show you how and why. My catalytic converter was stolen and this was the closest auto shop. I originally didn't think my insurance covered it, so I got a quote from them that was $3,900. He said the part itself was $1,900 because they had to get it from the dealer and there was no other option. I authorized the work. I asked my insurance and turns out they did cover it. The insurance was actually able to source the part for $600. Yes, this was one overpayment. Due to the theft, the check engine light was on. The shop said they had to spend $800 worth of electrical work labor to find the cause and then determined that the computer need to be replaced. The insurance suggested I go to a dealer instead because they have better diagnostic tool. They figured it out that it was due to a ground wire. The diagnostic from the dealership was $300. To fix it was an additional $550. Total was $850. This is compared to the $800 worth of diagnostic the shop asked for and then wanting to replace unnecessary part because he didn't know what he was doing. Finally, I needed to install a catalytic converter guard to prevent further theft. I asked the shop how much it would be. The initial estimate was maybe $700 - $800. Then when it was finally done, it was 998. I asked why, he said the part alone was $599. I asked him to show me the receipt. He "couldn't provide it". I asked him where he got it from. The Toyota dealer down the street. I checked online. The part was only $160. This is also ignoring the upcharge in labor since a shield takes about an hour to do. He charged two hours of labor. So, he essentially tried to charge me $1,000 for a maybe $500 job by overinflating part and labor costs. I showed him what I found the part cost to be online and he knocked down $180 magically and saying he's doing it at costs...still wouldn't go any lower and start making excuses for the upcharge like it's "four pieces" and "had to call around 3-4 shops" Don't believe me? See the attached screenshot of the online price and the part he used in the box. Finally, the installation job. If you go here, make sure to ask him to keep the parts receipt he got before he buys them so that it "doesn't get lost". Ask for the exact price before hand. Don't take any excuses. And only go here if you have insurance to pay for the work. Otherwise, you will regret it. read more

Ike is great! I had a service engine light on and needed my brakes checked...he met me early so I wouldn't be late for work and got to work on the diagnosis immediately. He called me within a couple hours, told me what needed to be done, said my truck would be completed by the end of the day-he resolved the check engine issue and put brakes on. I had so many issues with this place. I first got in contact with Ike, and let him know I needed a basic inspection. I let him know that I'd like to get in that same day, but that I was moving in the morning so my schedule would be based on when the movers would be done. He kept pressuring me to give him an exact time, and when I told him I wasn't sure if I'd make it that day, he pressured me even more saying he already bought filters expecting me to come in (how would he have even known I'd need filters?) So I bring my car in the next day for the inspection. I let him know I was leaving town for a week, and would have to leave the car with him until I returned, and he said that was fine. I confirmed twice that he was ok with that., and he was. So while I'm out of town, he calls me to tell me he did the inspection and oil change, which I was fine with. The he tells me that I also needed new brakes which would be $900. I tell him I don't want to commit to that while I'm on vacation and will decide what to do when I'm back. So then he tells me he can no longer keep the car parked at his garage while I'm away since he won't be working on it. Completely going back on what he said earlier. So I'm freaking out trying to figure out what im going to do. I finally talk him into letting me keep the car there until I returned like we initially discussed. But that was a really stressful moment for me. Then, while I was still on vacation, he demanded I Zelle him (before I even picked up the car). Mind you, he told me I could pay when I returned. I've never had a mechanic ask to be paid before I even got the car. But I did it. Then, on the day I'm supposed to pick it up, he's unresponsive about how I'm going to get my car since he said the garage will be closed when my flight landed. I kept texting him until he finally responded, and told me my car was parked at the garage and he left the keys OUTSIDE with it. They were literally on the floor and anyone can walk in. Finally, I noticed the very next day my tire pressure light was on. He never even checked my tires or put air in them, which is basic inspection stuff. This was a very stressful experience and I will never take my car to them again. read more

He helps me invest in my car to keep its value. I just brought in my baby after a few years away for a lot of much needed work, wheel work and struts, oil changes, coolant flushing, some fixes to the electrical system, and finally, at long last, a catalytic converter shield, all things I have put off because of the expense. Not only did Ike do all of this work carefully, he was in contact with me via text and phone the whole time to track the expense and what I could afford. He even threw in free electrical inspection and a mini detail so that my car now seems brand new with stains taken out of the carpet I thought were there forever. Ike is the best!! Requested a quote on repairing my front left axle since my boot was already leaking grease and making the clicking noise. The owner quoted me pretty close to what I got from another shop, so I decided to go with him since the shop is a lot closer to where I live currently. Owner was very friendly and responsive to any questions I had. He also took pictures of before and after of the repair and made sure the car was cleaned of the grease from the leaking boot underneath my car. Based on my experience I do recommend checking them out in the Mar Vista/Santa Monica area. The repair was sooner than later and the owner gave me a ride home and picked me up since I lived local. read more

High ratings here aren't quite what they seem. The owner actively asks customers to leave 5-star reviews in exchange for discounts (that's how he got me as well) and even pushes you to write about specific aspects of the service before they've actually happened, like "quick" or "quality" service. When I called ahead to ask about doing a tire rotation along with an oil change, Ike said, "Yes, we can do that. I'll take care of you," which led me to believe the rotation might be included. I should have clarified the price upfront, but when I arrived, I was quoted $70 for the rotation which was separate from the price of the oil change. When I said I'd have it done elsewhere, he immediately started negotiating the price and again offered a deal if I left a 5-star review, telling me what to include in it. In the end, the service itself seemed okay and I did get a lower price on the tire rotation--but only after some back-and-forth that left me feeling annoyed and misled. Overall, the lack of transparency, negotiating, and repeated pressure around reviews felt scammy and left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Don't want this to happen to others who see a high review here. Definitely won't be coming back. read more
