Having booked a self-guided Cotswolds hiking trip I had a desire to see more. Specifically, I wanted to go from the small town where my hiking trip ended to a town by the sea in Wales. From there I wanted to return to central London. It's possible I could have figured out how to do this on my own but really, why?
An inquiry I made through the company with which I'd booked the hiking trip referred me to Gates Travel and they simplified my life while saving me both time and money.
Reaching out through email, I provided my desired dates of travel along with the starting and ending locations. Promptly, I was asked for further necessary information and then given an array of options from which to choose. All my questions were answered politely and efficiently and when they couldn't be successfully answered via email, a quick phone call sufficed.
Gates Travel recommended something I'd not heard of and likely wouldn't have found on my own, a "Two Together Railcard" which saves money for duos who plan to travel with one another with even better deals offered if that's done at off-peak times. The card requires photos which were easily supplied to Gates via email.
All documents arrived at my home in plenty of time for my trip to the UK and I was very pleased with the service provided, a service I'm not even certain Gates Travel profited from.
A hiccup in train schedules caused one day of train travel to be uh - derailed - and it was a day on which Gates Travel wasn't open for business. With relief, I called the number of the rail service from the station I was at and someone answered and provided me all of the information I needed to conduct travel via a different schedule than planned. So you might want to have that number handy just in case.
I'm certain that booking train travel for foreigners isn't Gates Travel's primary business but it was one they executed to perfection and quite pleasantly as well. I was happy to have found them. read more
