Colonoscopy prep
Debra S.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, thankfully my colonoscopy was the end of February. Most of 2024, I was dealing with a lot of GI problems. I was in the ER a few times because of it. Since I was going to have a hysterectomy, my doctor wanted to wait until after that, to send me to a GI doctor. From these reviews, I guess I was very lucky to get an appointment within 7 days of my referral for colonoscopy. I barely had enough time to prepare. The staff for prep was very helpful. I only had 4 business days to be ready for my procedure, but they got me set up immediately. The day of, staff was compassionate and helpful. Everything did seem pretty quick though. I was very glad I had the procedure. They did find 2 polyps and each was removed. If you are over 45 years old, please get a colonoscopy!

Went for a procedure today and highly recommend this facility! From the early morning phone call to let me know about a cancellation and if I wanted to come in earlier, my check in, to my escort out to my car, Everybody was so friendly and professional. Thanks to Courtney, Dan (anesthesiologist), Dr. Halterman, Marenity and Brittany and those I forgot your names I'm sorry but appreciate you all! All my questions were answered and nothing was rushed but they were right on time. The procedure went smoothly and I was in and out quickly. I feel confident in their expertise and wouldn't hesitate to go there for my future medical needs.

I was a 68-yr old disabled senior, who met Ms Matteionni at Renown Hospital, when she diagnosed me with probable gall stones. I am homebound, and with limited mobillity and transportation, she permenently ejected me from Gastroenterology Consultents, which I had gone too for over 10 yrs, without incident. However, due to my conditions, Covid-19 etc, I missed 1 appts, or was late, and with a total of 3 incidents in exactly 3 yrs; in one case, my appt was at 2:00 pm, and we were expected there 15 min early, but I was taking an UBER and got there at 2:05 pm. Her Office then not only refused to see me, but made sure that I was permently terminated from the GE Consultments without me being able to defend myself, or have any recourse whatsoever. Not once, had I EVER been late to the appt I had at GE other than her, and therefore I now am unable, without great duress to go way South of town, many miles away from home. Being now 70, Homebound, I see nothing of the kind and professional attributes that her patients see in her. I have known more than one persons in the area, who feel and have experienced her nasty, retributive manner. If you wish to partner with such a narcissist, I feel for you.

What followed was not the provision of medical care consistent with Nevada law or accepted standards of practice, but a sequence of dismissals, misrepresentations, and dangerous prescribing decisions (AGAIN) that placed me, the patient, at risk and violated my rights. 1. Clinical Analysis of the Discharge Record Even though the staff verbally "scoffed" and suggested it was just a 'kidney stone', the After Visit Summary tells a different story: Official Diagnosis: They have officially documented Ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction as a primary diagnosis. This is not a "simple kidney stone"; it is the exact pathology identified at the first ER. Abnormal Lab Results: My urinalysis showed Trace Protein and 1+ Ketones, which indicates my kidneys are under stress. Medication: They administered Ketorolac (Toradol) at 6:32 PM. Toradol is an NSAID that can be hard on the kidneys; given my history of kidney failure, this needs to be monitored closely. Breach of the Standard of Care: This occurs when a provider fails to provide the level of care a competent professional would. (e.g., dismissing an acute UPJ obstruction as "chronic pain" without new imaging). Failure to Diagnose / Delay in Diagnosis: The refusal by SMRMC to perform a new CT or MRI despite worsening lab markers (Protein/Ketones) and a 1.9 cm lesion. Patient Abandonment/Violation of Rights: Repeated requests for a Patient Advocate were denied, and call buttons were ignored. I WILL ADD THIS TO MY ON-GOING CASE, PICTURED BELOW AND THE COMPARISONS OF BOTH EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT FALIURES.
