We ordered the beer cheese combo, roasted duck, the famous trio of dumplings, and finished with the Toblerone Bundt cake served with vanilla ice cream. Everything was outstanding. Amazing beer cheese better than those had at other beer gardens. The roasted duck was perfectly cooked with incredible flavor, but the real highlight was the dumpling trio. It's easy to see why they're famous--each one was unique, packed with flavor, and easily the best dumplings I had in Munich. The Toblerone Bundt cake was a decadent and delicious way to end the meal. We paired everything with several glasses of wheat beer and Helles, which complemented the food perfectly. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit. The restaurant offers a huge outdoor beer garden along with plenty of indoor seating, making it a great choice for both small and large groups. It's a bit on the expensive side, but the quality of the food makes it well worth it. I'd highly recommend making a reservation, as it's a very popular spot.

That said, we want to recognize our waiter, Anil, who was incredibly kind, welcoming, and professional. He provided excellent service and was the highlight of our visit. We understand restaurants can be busy, but honest communication and treating every guest with the same respect go a long way. We hope the management takes this feedback seriously.

We started with beer, of course, followed by Nuremberg sausages with potatoes and sauerkraut, and an order of cheese spätzle. Both dishes were hearty and delicious, but the spätzle stole the show. It had the perfect texture and was wonderfully cheesy. We kept eating long after we said we were full! The traditional German beer hall atmosphere made it even better, with its dark wood ceiling and large wooden chandeliers. And the beer? Light, easy to drink, and perhaps some of the best we've had on this trip.

It was 33 €, but it was also a lot of food and I barely finished all of it, despite not eating much over the previous 24 hours while traveling from Phoenix. The atmosphere of the place was less raucous than we'd been led to believe, but that could have been both the hour and the cold/rainy weather... and maybe the closeness of Oktoberfest (starting the following week). That was fine with us as we were jet lagged and very tired! After dinner, we walked back to the hotel and crashed out. Mission accomplished. Service was friendly and we really appreciated that the menus were available in English and the servers spoke it as well since our collective tired brains probably couldn't have produced coherent German easily, if at all. Maybe on the more expensive side if you're looking for a quick meal, but worth it if you want a hearty meal and beer.

Located just behind Old Town on Frauenplatz, it's a little off the beaten track, but not too hard to find. This Bavarian gem has been around for over 125 years. The food was so good. Here you will find traditional German, Bavarian food. We stopped by for lunch and it was packed with mostly locals. We were seated a large table with 3 other couples who were all from the area. One person brought his dog who kept running under the table to sniff my leg. Minus the dog, this was a treat and everyone was so nice. We even toasted when the cold Augustiner beer arrived. Again, we were told to order the sausages so we did. I ordered the 6 and my husband ordered the 8 sausages with sauerkraut. These looked like what we call breakfast sausage, they're thin but pack a a ton of flavor and were delicious, especially with the fresh sauerkraut. The staff was friendly and helpful with an English version menu. The atmosphere was cool and very authentic. Exactly what we were looking for when in Munich.

We loved the interior with its dark wooden beams. On our second day as mentioned, the food we had wanted to eat was out, so we only ordered drinks which seemed to have disappointed our waitress. We also felt like service was much less attentive so the second time we went wasn't as great of an experience, but nevertheless, we enjoyed our drinks. We definitely still recommend visiting this spot while you're in Munich. It's definitely a must do as it's one of the six main breweries from Munich. He listened to our orders, but gave us great feedback on how we could better experience the local specialties. He did this without being pushy or making us feel awkward. Thanks to him, dinner was incredible! We ordered Obatza and pretzels as our appetizer, and Mr Tran asked if we wanted to try something special, for a little more money. We couldn't really understand what it was (my German is limited) so we decided to go for it. And I am glad we did! He brought out a triple decker appetizer tower that was amazing! It had a burrata and tomato caprese dish, a salmon and shaved horseradish dish, and a rare beef with horseradish sauce dish. Beautifully plated and delicious--and totally unexpected. The Obatza was good, but this was definitely next level. For dinner, we decided on the Schweinsbraten (roast pork), the Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle), and the Weiner schnitzel. All were solid dishes, but the Schweinsbraten with the tender meat contrasting with the crunchy savory skin was outstanding. Of course we heard so much about Radler beer that we had to try that as well. Beer with lemonade... sounds strange, but it was good and definitely refreshing. Of course Mr Tran let us know that Radlers are not really beer (LOL!). So he talked us into trying the local specialties--Weissbier and Kellerbier. Both beers are brewed in house and on tap. He suggested we order one of each and brought extra glasses so we could sample both beers. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but I really liked the smooth, creamy Kellerbier. I would definitely get that again. Although we were so full by the end, Mr Tran had one more suggestion for us--Leberkäse. It's made of finely ground pork and bacon and has a light airy texture with a thin crust. Apparently it is one of the specialties of the restaurant (along with the white sausages that are only served for breakfast). We decided to order a small piece to try. The flavor was very mild and Mr Tran recommended that we dip pieces of it in their homemade sweet mustard. Loved the mustard, and was glad to have had a chance to try this traditional dish. Mr Tran also pointed out the historic nature of the restaurant. There was a brewery called the Franziskaner (name from a nearby monastery) here before the restaurant opened in 1447--way before Columbus set sail. It has been owned by Löwenbräu since 1888. Overall, we had a great time eating traditional dishes and drinking local beer in a historic restaurant. Highly recommend!

Staff: they were kind and patient as there were a lot of us! Food/Drinks: 1. I just got apple juice haha but my dad got a Radler and I was able to try. I surprisingly liked it because it was light and it didn't 'sting' my throat like other kinds of beer. It had a nice lemon flavor in there too which I think made it taste really good! 2. Salad was not bad, nothing outstanding. I don't mind the sourness but the vinaigrette may be a bit too much for some people. 3. Pretzel. The pretzel looked lovely but it was very hard and also very salty. Good with soup, I suppose! 4. I got the pork knuckle. First time every trying! It was delicious and full of tender meat! It didn't feel oily or heavy. It was very good and I hope when I eat pork knuckle in the future again, it'll be just as good! I'm not a fan of their "dumplings" which is just a ball of dough but it can be more filling and it can soak up the sauce. 5. For dessert we got a donut-like thing which was a sliced apple wrapped in a donut (that's the best I can explain haha). It was good because it wasn't sweet. I appreciate desserts here because it's not as sweet as the sweets I eat in the states. It was lovely and I could actually taste the nice apple inside! Great experience and delicious, even though there were many of us! I'm not sure about the price- specifically but when I looked at the menu, their dishes were reasonable since they give you great portions, too!
