Disclaimer#2: I am an American judging German cuisine, so take it with a grain of salt if you are a native of the country! Loved the food here. Large group of us so we were able to sample many different dishes. I tasted the Vngarisches rindersaftlasch (basically gulasch), the Wiener schnitzel com schweinelendchen, the Gegte medallions com schweinefilet auf pfifferlingrahmsauce (pork tenderloin) and a side of kartoffelkrokketten (basically mashed potatoes deep fried like a tater tot). All four of these foods were excellent! The service was fast and friendly. I would recommend sitting outside in their expansive beer garden with the beautiful views of the mountains. Located across from the train station, so centrally located in town. Cash only. If you are in Berchtesgaden and looking for some great German cuisine, check this place out!

Esszimmer is convenient, and there's off street parking (paid) a one minute walk away. I ordered the Starter of consumme with ravioli of red beet, beech nuts and kumquats. So refined, petite and delicious. Maximillian (Chef and Owner) knows precisely how to mix delicate flavors into a symphony! For my Entrée, I ordered roasted quail, presented with asparagus, morels, pumpkin cream and potatoes. All seasoned to delight my taste buds. Preceding it all was a special bite I can't truly describe other than delicious, along with a variety of fine sliced breads. An extensive wine list is offered, along with spirits. I didn't have room for dessert, however I'm certain it's of the same high quality. Our server turned out to be the wife, Roxana, who is a co-owner. This young couple is clearly doing their best to delight their customers. If we lived nearby, we'd be regulars beyond a doubt. The experience deserves a full 5!

We had the Berchtesgaden Pork Roast with dark beer sauce, bacon coleslaw and a bread dumpling. We ordered the small portion for €16, which was a nice option if you don't want such a heavy meal. The pork was good, and I liked being able to try a traditional Bavarian dish without getting an enormous portion. The standout, though, was the Bavarian Burger -- it was amazing! It came with minced beef, spicy mountain cheese, tomatoes, onions, arugula, bacon, pickles and crème fraîche on a pretzel roll with French fries. So much flavor, and the pretzel roll made it even better. Definitely one of the better burgers we had on our trip. Overall, everything we ordered was very good, but I would especially recommend the Bavarian Burger. A great dinner stop while visiting Berchtesgaden!
