One of the finest meals of my life on a cold winter night. You know the menu before you even see it. Anich is, in my opinion, the very best of them all. Be aware that the food is HEAVY and served in large portions. If you order one of the classic popular meat dishes (roast pork, schnitzel, goulash, etc) you should either be very hungry, prepared to share, or willing to ask for a takeout box. It's a ton of food and it's all stellar. I'm trying and failing to think of something we ordered there that was less than delicious and I can't. The service was not especially fast but I don't mark this kind of restaurant down for that because the meal is supposed to be a slow one. The local wine selection is excellent as is the beer. During a very crowded time you may be asked to share a large table with strangers or so we heard, but in my visits I never saw this happen. It was winter. Summer may be a different story. The building is lovely as are the several dining rooms. If you're looking for a light meal go elsewhere. If you want to be stuffed with dumplings, meat, gravy, and all that great stuff don't go elsewhere.

As a singleton, I got seated with a table that included a couple from Swabian area and a local gent that spends half his year in Spain. It was nice to have people to chat with and they were very patient with my German (as most Germans are). I ordered the Wiener schnitzel and an Augustin Dunkel to start. The beer was very good and the massive fresh schnitzel was equally so. I wasn't sure I'd have room for dessert, but as I was on a mission that I could not fail... I ordered the small potion of Kaiserschmarrn. It was still quite generous and it's times like these another dining partner would be helpful. They were little fluffy pillows of pancake, lightly dusted with powdered sugar with plump raisins in and around each pillow. There was a small dessert glad of homemade applesauce that was so thick. It reminded me of a good apple butter. There were also some pecans livers on the plate and in the applesauce.. I was very full and happily satisfied by the end of the meal. Service was excellent and swift. This is definitely one of the more traditional restaurants that you'll find here in the area and I highly recommend a meal here or at least, dessert.

Both of my teenage boys said they wanted to go back here to eat again, and that's high praise from two picky eaters.
