Overpriced by huge amounts. Gary's used to be good but now they're just that shop that only exists to take advantage of people who don't know what things are supposed to cost or can't be bothered to walk a couple blocks to a different shop. I ran in because I needed a bottle of cheap vodka the other day. $35 for a bottle that's $25 at any other shop. half the liquor is like $10 more than elsewhere. read more

Great selection on wines and champagnes. The prices are low considering the area, however when I was purchasing some wine for $9.00 I was told my total was going to be $10.00. I asked was tax exactly $1.00 and I'm guessing he knew where I was going with that. I told him that's illegal and his reply was lots of businesses do that even the gas stations. Not sure why he would feel comfortable in telling a customer that. But maybe when I call the bbb tonight I hope these other businesses can help pay his fines too. read more

Gary's liquor is your classic, old school, NYC liquor store. Sam the owner is very friendly and helpful when customers have a question or need a recommendation. The wine and liquor selection is not massive by any means but they have almost anything you'd want or Sam would help you choose something similar if he doesn't have it. And the best part, I live 2 blocks away on Orchard street and he delivers in literally 5 minutes. He only delivers in a very close radius to his store so don't be disappointed if they won't deliver to you. Great store, great owner, great prices. I haven't had to go to a different liquor store since I moved to the LES last July and found them on Yelp the day I moved in. Highly recommend! read more

Let me start by saying this review is solely based on the customer service I experienced. Not sure what options of liquor they carry or if they're just your local liquor store. However, tonight I purchased an $11.98 bottle of Wild Turkey Bourbon and felt racially profiled in this establishment. Here's why.... To my misfortune I forgot my ID, but the guy behind the counter was okay with confirming age with a picture of my ID From my phone. Now again totally my bad for leaving my id, along with forgetting my ID I left my company card as well. So I had my bosses card, now here's where I felt profiled... the picture was okay to verify age, but being that there were two different names the gentleman said he couldn't make the sale. Cool we all have rules we need to follow.It was rather apparent that their clientele was primarily of Caucasian's. But what rubbed me the wrong way is while waiting in line two other people paid in card but weren't asked for ID to verify that it was indeed their card being used. I could completely understand if my purchase was an outstanding amount ( similar to those very customers) but 11.98.... just didn't seem fair. When I came back from walking to get cash, he again asked me to pull the picture up. I wonder if I had my boss send a picture of his ID & then FaceTimed if the situation would have been different.... or maybe if my name was Becky and I didn't come in with braided hair.. but who am I ? read more

This Tiny little hole in the wall would have been completely under the radar for me had I not gotten lost on the way to the Tenement Museum! It caught my eye because of the bottle of wine in the window. A 2006 Claret from Francis Coppola's vineyard. I LOVE this wine and have a bottle at home that I have been waiting for it to age just the appropriate amount of time. (Wine is a passion of mine) Anyways, after being let in via the bullet proof glass, we found this TINY.. no more than 200 Sq Foot store with thousands of bottles of wine, liquor, etc. Alot of the bottles were common, but alot of rare gems in there to, at great prices. The man who worked there, (his name is Leonard) was very sweet and extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend going there and picking his brain for a while. Go for the buzz and return for the knowledge this place has to offer. read more

Stumbled in to this place after dinner to buy a bottle of whiskey to bring back to our hotel. I would not normally be one to yelp a liquor store, but Sam the owner was THE BEST. Seriously just such a friendly and down to earth guy, and recommended a great bottle of bourbon. He was funny and very interested in us and why we were visiting, and told us about himself. Just a super nice guy with decent prices on the liquor for being in NYC. read more

It's a great liquor and wine store just south of Houston St. with a friendly owner. He gives good advice without just pushing the top-shelf stuff, and introduced himself and employee to me when I first went there. They're a smallish store but have a good selection of spirits and good moderately priced wines from California, France, Italy, Spain, Chili, Australia, etc. A lot of them are in the $10-$15 range, which is good for me as I use wine in cooking a lot and need something decent, but not too high-end. Very reasonable prices on the spirits too. I picked up a 750 of Courvoisier, also for cooking, mostly, for $33 + tax, and a 375 of E&J VSOP for $9 (the XO was $11). The place is a bit crowded because of the big selection in the small space, so don't knock anything over lol. read more

Staff is always extremely helpful. Made accommodations for a same day delivery even when they were short one person. I sometimes end up going to other liquor stores closer to me but given the high quality of the staff and the hard to beat prices, I will be coming here much more frequently. read more
