The basil cream chicken was, beef Marsala wasn't my thing, pasta Alfredo was ok, rosemary potato was quite mashed soft, although wholly intact, the honey glazed carrots were not prominent or flavorful and Caesar was blah, quite a bit of rotten romaine lettuce in my two plates of salad. Caesar salad was covered in shredded Parmesan, grabbed some lettuce from the bottom. Gary's catered the food. The basil cream chicken wasn't bad. The beef Marsala wasn't my thing at all. First of all, in spite of the fact that most of the previous reviewers have had positive experiences with Gary's Catering at large events, this is not the case with me. I dine alone. You see, every day (Monday through Friday), at about 12:15pm a gal from Gary's arrives and offers a variety of hot meals, cold sandwiches, cold drinks and a few other items. She offers to take credit cards, but old-fashioned as I am, I always pay with cash. The best part is that she brings them right outside of the building where I work. No delivery fees, no outside DashingDoors or EatAbove or anything else. She simply pulls up in the parking lot, honks the horn, and like a Pavlov pup, I come running for my treats. The food is always fresh - the hot food is hot, the cold offerings are cold. The driver is always upbeat and friendly, no matter how bad the traffic might be or what a bad day she might be having, I am always greeted with a smile. I have always enjoyed whatever I select. The food is simply delicious. If I decide someday to plan a wedding, I will certainly place Gary's at the top of my list. Until then, I dine alone. But I dine with happy taste buds. Hired Gary's catering for a Cinco De Mayo party at the campground. I wasn't sure how much food I needed to feed 100+ people who were coming and going throughout the day- Tina was very helpful and her estimates were accurate, plenty of food to go around! The food was awesome and staff was helpful. They were referred to me by a friend who loved eating their food from a large corporate event. I have used Gary's for work events for years and now have had the chance to use them for a personal event (grad party). As always, they are wonderful to work with! Being able to make 1 call and get not only great food and staff, but also the tent, tables, chairs, linens, etc. Anyone who has put an event together knows how fabulous it is to make 1 call, have 1 contact, etc. and get everything you need. I was in Michigan for a Graduation party over the weekend. I had to post, as they had the best fresh BBQ menu featuring juicy huge burgers, Italian Chicken with Fresh Basil, Sweet Italian Sausage with Chef sautéd onions and Peppers! I asked who the caterer was and the host told me Gary's Catering! I was full, but kept going back to the grill station for more! Inside they had a beautiful display of sides. Gary's catered our wedding in September. They gave us the wrong chicken that we had ordered. Not the end of the world it was still decent. Not great but good. But it was pretty disappointing. The food was lukewarm and not seasoned all that much. More so quantity over quality, which is expected with catering usually. The staff was very polite and helpful with cleaning up the tables and serving everyone at the buffet. Not entirely sure if I would recommend to anyone. The pricing was fine. read more

I am SO glad I chose Gary's Catering to cater my wedding reception. From the first phone call with Sheri, I knew I made a great choice. She was amazing to work with - courteous, professional, prompt, friendly - and she really worked with my budget. Since we lived far away from our reception location, Chef Joseph set up a tasting session outside of their normal business hours to accommodate us. In the days (weeks, months) leading up to the wedding, Sheri continuously checked in on me and accommodated all of my last minute changes and requests with no trouble. We were also able to rent our tables, plates, and silverware from Gary's for a fraction of the cost elsewhere, which saved us both money and hassle. On the day of, I (as the bride) was hardly able to pay attention to and keep up with everything going on, but the site coordinator made sure that I was well taken care of so I didn't have to worry. She came to me at the head table to carry my plate and walk me through the buffet to select my food. She even frequently checked in on me to see if I needed anything - and by anything I mean she would refill my water (a service I hadn't opted to purchase for the wedding) and even get me drinks from the bar. Their staff even broke the buffet tables down and carried them off the dance floor, which was also a chore I never paid for - they just did it because it needed to be done! I was floored by their professionalism and service. Now - the food. Everyone RAVED about it (and still do). We opted for the "traditional" beef, chicken, potatoes, veggies, and tossed salad buffet - but the food was anything but ordinary. The roasted chicken was a huge portion (1/4 chicken I believe), and it was ridiculously flavorful and juicy for a buffet to feed 260+ people. The potatoes where all but entirely snatched up by people going for seconds. We never ran out of food, and we actually froze the leftovers. My husband and I are still eating the leftover chicken and it is STILL delicious. I cannot believe the quality of food and service we received for the price. While talking to our guests, they were all letting me know how great the food was & how professional, yet friendly the staff was. I could not agree more! They have a good truck and iv tried 3 different items 3 different times. I got sick the first two times but like an idiot I took my chances a third time. This time I got a cold item, a sandwich. It was a soggy nasty mess. Not good at all. Everything is over priced and just down right dosnt taste good. Very disappointed and will never be purchasing food from them again. I'd rather waste the gas to go get real, and better tasting food for my lunch breaks. read more

Gary's catered my wedding in 2006. Granted, that was a long time ago and things may have changed, but our disappointment and anger at the way their staff behaved at our event and their lack of response to my very polite letter after the event compels me to share my experience. Gary's catered our backyard wedding. I communicated well with them and made it clear that a few things were very important to us: one, that they leave all the wine bottles so we could count and recycle them, and two, that they were not allowed to leave trash on site. They did not keep any bottles of wine at all - they all ended up in the trash. And the trash? Was left on site. To add insult to injury, all the trash bags were so filled with heavy stuff that they couldn't even be lifted without breaking. Our clean up was a smelly, messy, fly-infested nightmare thanks to their lack of professionalism. At the end of the night, they were in such a hurry to leave that they left behind one of their workers and tore up the grass spinning the wheels of their truck. I sent them a very polite letter after the event, detailing the crew's behavior, the clear disregard for the agreed-upon rules and never heard a word back from them. No apology, nothing. read more

My wife and I selected Chef Joe and Gary's catering for our caterers. Their representatives were incredibly helpful throughout the process. During the taste testing, they brought out a variety of foods - and variations - to sample. Even after we decided, they were very opening to modifying their seasonings. At no point did we feel as though we were bothering them with our ideas and suggestions. To the contrary, they took pride in serving us and wanted us to have exactly what we wanted and not just what was on their standard menu. On the wedding day, they were punctual, well-dress, adaptable to an outdoor venue, polite, and clean with deportment. Best of all, they made their staff available to our wedding coordinator for odds & ends. After the completion of all the serving and cleanup, 3 staffers were available to bus our tables (desserts and beverages). read more

We hired Gary's to cater our wedding and they were horrendous overall. They arrived late to the venue, struggled to get the food set up in time for the cocktail hour, and ran out of alcohol 30 minutes before last call. Then, at the end of the night they yelled at both the bride and groom's mothers, calling them both liars. Based on our math, they brought enough alcohol for 3.5 drinks per drinking age person, which at a wedding is not nearly enough. Finally, they left the venue early and left a massive mess around the building. This is a terrible company and I don't recommend them to anybody. Chef Joe and Sheri are great but the staff at the actual venue were among some of the rudest and awful people I have ever encountered. read more

My son and daughter in law were married about a month ago and we chose Gary's Catering based upon a friends referral. We couldn't have been happier with the choice. We met with Sheri who listened (really listened !) to what we were looking for and then she made it happen. The food was superb, the staff was very friendly and we kept getting compliments from our guests all night long. I knew it would be a tough job because we had 140 guests at an outdoor venue but they managed to pull it off. There were enough staff so that people were served quickly and the cleanup was managed without disturbing our celebration. My wife and I would definitely use them for future parties. read more

Gary's catered our outdoor September wedding this past weekend and did a fabulous job! People were RAVING about the food all night. And the servers and chefs were incredibly helpful all day. It was far from a black tie event, but the service they provided by serving food, clearing tables, cutting and serving the cake, as well as a million other things I'm sure I didn't see was top notch. Sheri was so incredibly helpful beforehand in helping us figure out exactly what we needed and finalizing our menu. We were going for more of an "elegant barbeque" vibe and they let us mix and match dishes between their different catering menus to put together exactly what we were looking for. We couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out! I used Gary's Catering for my wedding reception. I had never tasted their food prior to my wedding, so needless to say, I was scared that the food was going to taste poorly. I was EXTREMELY pleased with EVERYTHING! My guests raved about the food. Their chicken was phenomenal! The slow roast baron of beef was TO DIE FOR! The mixed vegetable was a little soggy, but we did start dinner late. The Michigan Cherry Salad was delicious. I could not have been happier. The food was alright , but the potatoes had way too much rosemary in them and the sauce on the chicken was a little too oily for my taste and a few others. I don't even know where to begin! The food and service were fantastic and greatly exceeded my expectations (and that is pretty difficult to do.) My guests have not stopped talking about food, with many saying it was the best 'wedding food' they have ever had. The wait staff was delightful, courteous, and efficient. We used gary's for our wedding. Their prices were very competitive, and Sheri was so helpful. I didn't really eat the night of the wedding, but everyone liked the food. They were very helpful and responsive while I was booking everything. Plus their prices were very good. I used them for their food and their bar/bartender service. Again, I was more focused on everyone having a really good time, so I didn't have "high end" food. I did the linens through them as well. read more
