Jump forward to the spring of 2026 and for the first time in my life, I went to see a private chiropractor. However, that proved to be way too expensive and had to look elsewhere. And in May 2026, I finally signed up for a 3-month membership at "The Joint" Chiropractic. My home base location is off of Madison/Sunrise in Citrus Heights but after being out of town on Friday/Saturday, I needed to get an adjustment on Sunday. There is where "The Joint Gold River" came in handy as they are the only location in my area that is currently opened on Sundays. Located directly off on Sunrise Ave and Golden Centre Lane in the Golden Towne Centre, this particular office has been in operation dating back to 2013. And since it is smack dab in between my office and home, it is a perfect location in case I needed to get my adjustment on my way home from work. The primary chiropractor here is Dr. Roger Brisbane who has been practicing since 1991 and has helped thousands of patients over the decades. If you are familiar with The Joint and are an active member, they simply scan your membership card and you wait until it is your turn. Since it is a first-come, first-serve basis, you may be seen immediately or experience a small wait time. I came during the afternoon on Sunday 6/21/2026 at around 12:20pm and was done with my adjustment by 12:45pm. I will say that Dr. Brisbane really helped alleviate a lot of the back pain that I was experiencing and did a fantastic job. He was able to use the proper methods and techniques to make sure all of my toxins were being released; primarily around the lower back and neck areas. Since every chiropractor is a little different, it can vary from one place to the next. I also wanted to say that the receptionist was very friendly and accommodating as she was positive and helpful. Sadly major retailers such as Starbucks and Bel Air have shuttered in 2026 as well as an Outback Steakhouse back in 2020. However, "The Joint Gold River" was a breath of fresh air as I felt much better after my adjustment. My rating, a unanimous five stars.

Went to Urgent Care the next day, diagnosed as Calcific Tendinitis in my shoulder and sent me to orthopedic doc who gave me a must -do exercises, PT referral and said use ibuprofen, Tylenol and ice, and expect it to cure itself in 6-8 weeks. PT said, no exercise and to leave it alone for a few weeks and ice it and work on my posture. ? Needless to say, conflicting info, and to not be able to work (type), sleep or drive for 6-8 weeks?!! I was tired and frustrated and went to The Joint in Gold River hoping for some relief. From the moment I walked in they helped me with the forms, I could not write, or do all other things that required my hand/arm. Dr. Brisbane, said he wasn't sure how much he could help with the pain, but he could help with mobility. He did a few adjustments and the very next day my arm mobility went from none to halfway to shoulder-height and the pain was isolated to only my shoulder. Two days after FIRST appointment, I went back, even he was shocked at the quick improvement. Each visit brought better arm mobility and less pain. By the following week I was sore but had total mobility. My Christmas was saved! Now, I know the calcification heals itself, but I am convinced the docs at The Joint sped up this process and definitely got all surrounding pain, from muscles/joints compensating for my shoulder, under control. If you are having joint/muscle pain consider these guys as part of your treatment.

My feelings about the situation haven't changed, simply because finding out by text while trying to schedule my next appointment was unexpected after being a consistent patient for so long. But I do want to acknowledge his message and the sincerity behind it. I've always had positive experiences with him and his team, and I will truly miss this office and the care I received. The bigger issue here is the system itself. Our health insurance landscape has become so chaotic and unpredictable that both patients and providers end up caught in the crossfire. It puts everyone in impossible positions, and this was one of those moments where the system failed all of us. After over 3 months of treatments, even though there are improvements, I am still dealing with shoulder pain, in particular at night when laying down, which makes it difficult to get a full night's sleep. I decided to try alternative ways of pain management and contacted a chiropractor's office that was recommended to me. So far, I had two office visits with Dr. Dawn where she used Combined Therapy which consists of Ultrasound and Interferential Current.
