The day that a house behind ours began repairs was very windy. The owner Shannon McDaniel noticed our shingles lifting with the wind and offered to look at our roof and since my husband and I had already been discussing our possible need for a new roof, I agreed. After the inspection he told me that we had storm damage. This is our first house and we had not even entertained the thought of storm damage even though most of the roof repairs in our neighborhood started right after hurricane Irma blew through the state. He had taken pictures of the damage to show me and explained to me why he thought it was due to strong winds. He encouraged me to contact my insurance agent to have one of their adjusters come out and give their opinion. Two days later my insurance adjuster came and Mr. McDaniel took time to come by also. My adjuster had worked with Mr. McDaniel before so within an hour I had approval for a new roof and a check in my hand for the repairs. Two weeks later I had a beautiful new roof. The crew was awesome. They did everything. They moved our trampoline out of the way. They worked quickly and respectfully. When they heard that the insurance company wasn't going to pay for it, they ghosted me. I had been trying for a couple of months. I met Mike Roberts standing in front of a home in my neighborhood as the Roofer Express team was pulling off the old shingles. I was riding by on my way to work, so I turned around and got his card. I asked him to look at my house and give me a quote. I had the quote by the next morning. Then I did my research. Hmmm... A+ on BBB.org, good reviews, and the neighbor gave them a glowing recommendation. I don't know roofing companies, so those sorts of things make a big difference. I got three quotes. Two were in about the same ballpark, including Roofer Express, and the third was more expensive. Mike Roberts impressed me with his timely response and the effort he put into answering my questions. The installation process went very smoothly. Mike Roberts maintained good communication throughout the project. The pre-installation walkthrough answered my questions and gave me a good understanding of what I needed to do to be ready for installation day. The materials arrived on schedule the night before the install. The team arrived promptly at the scheduled time. Mike Roberts was also the project manager and was on-site for most of the day to ensure everything went smoothly. He identified minor items for his team to address and made sure they were taken care of. When my wife had to leave for work, he made sure there was a clear path for her to get out. Getting a new roof can be messy, but they didn't leave a mess behind. They cleaned up thoroughly, and our plants and garden were all in good shape at the end of the project. They were usually 2-4 hours late in arrival time. The water heaters were plumbed incorrectly- he used the wrong couplings, tubing and also installed improperly. He turned the pressure up to 160 (60 is the max per professionals). The valve had to be replaced and we paid $1,000 to a master plumber to re - plumb correctly and replace the valve. The ceiling fan was wired backward. They would not return my calls or text when I asked them to come fix it. Very poor quality and customer service.

I'm pretty upset to find that I've been recommending DeKalb Roofing for the last few years and I…read moreshould not have. DeKalb Roofing did a complete reroof for me in 2022. Recently I got a couple of quotes to have the soffit and fascia replaced on my house. I started seeing mold in areas which I'd never seen before. One of the roofing companies that I asked for a quote told me that my new roof doesn't include a drip edge. I've never heard of a drip edge. I have read up on it now and know that it is a code item in DeKalb County. It prevents water from intruding into your soffit, hence stopping mold from growing. It also helps keep rodents out. I called DeKalb Roofing and was told that I was probably "offered" the drip edge but I declined. Hogwash. I still have their original quote for my roof replace and nowhere does it say drip edge. I'm now faced with paying over $5,000 as the cost to add the drip edge is considerably higher after the roof is completed. I don't like being deceived. I have to have some kind of trust in contractors that they will tell me what's code. Instead of cutting corners and charging huge sums like they're doing the right thing. I really don't know how they sleep at night.
