In the fall of 2020, I had several appointments with Dr. Shari Diamond at the K Street office. I…read morefound her very distant, not at all compassionate or concerned about the pain I was in, and condescending and dismissive of my concerns. It was the pandemic, of course, and pre-vaccines, so I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but it was such an unpleasant experience to see her that I stopped going and found another specialist at a different practice (who was fantastic). Unfortunately, the fantastic specialist at the different practice retired and when I called Arthritis and Rheumatism Associates to make an appointment with someone other than Dr. Diamond for another issue, I was told that was not possible. The receptionist transferred me to her supervisor, who confirmed that about a year ago (2025?), Arthritis and Rheumatism Associates implemented a new policy whereby patients who have previously seen one of the doctors in the practice cannot make another appointment with a different doctor in the practice. The supervisor asked if I had filed a complaint in Fall 2020. I replied that I had not, it was the pandemic, I was in pain and could barely walk, and that I simply voted with my feet and never returned. The supervisor then suggested that I give Dr. Diamond "a second chance." I said that another doctor I see for other issues had confirmed that Dr. Diamond's reputation has worsened in recent years, so I would not see her again. It's frustrating that Arthritis and Rheumatism Associates, the largest practice of its kind in the area, has this policy because the DMV is an increasingly aging population and there are many of us who need to see a rheumatologist we like and trust.

I completely agree with the negative reviews posted about this medical provider. Special kudos to…read morethe patient who brought their husband to one appointment for a "sanity check" and for his declaration that they would never go back. I endured four visits, though I knew after the first visit that this doctor lacks the qualities I needed, as a patient fighting a complex and damaging rheumatological disease. I continued seeing her because I wanted to be sure she wasn't just having a bad day and I desperately needed medical care as my rheumatologist had retired. Sick people in pain tend to be desperate and perhaps that's why I endured multiple visits. I found her to be continually stone-faced with an icy demeanor. So no, she wasn't just having a bad day and she didn't deserve me remaining open-minded about her. She actually seemed bored during my visits, and rarely responded to anything I said, making me feel that my observations and comments were a waste of her time. She provided no information about my disease. As kindness and compassion don't seem to be part of her standard medical protocol, I have to wonder why she chose rheumatology rather than radiology or another field where she could forego direct contact with patients altogether.

I first saw Dr. Wolfe 4 wks ago. My GP referred me. I'd been having pain in my hands and feet and…read morethe concern was I had RA. Dr Wolfe ran blood tests and 4 weeks later (today) I saw Dr. Wolfe for a follow-up. He sat and very unemotionally told me I have RA. No compassion. No smile. No encouragement. No suggestion of what's ahead for someone newly diagnosed with RA. He discussed the medications he would be prescribing and stood up and left the room. He came back with single page handout on RA and another on medications. Then he left again. I had to venture out into the corridor to ask if I was to wait for the scripts. A staff member told me to go to the check out desk and the scripts would be sent to my pharmacy. That's how I learned I have a incurable, progressive, possibly debilitating disease. I'll stick with Dr Wolfe because my GP said he was good, but if I feel I need a more compassionate Dr., I will need to try someone else. Interestingly, today, which is the day after the day I wrote the above review, Dr. Wolfe called me to offer an apology for yesterday's rushed visit and spent time explaining the improved prognosis for patients today. I've done my homework and I know RA meds have revolutionalized treatment, but what percentage of patients become crippled despite meds? Could I be in that category? Dr. Wolfe assured me that having caught my condition early, I can expect good outcome. Did Dr. Wolfe call because one of his staff read this review? Perhaps. But, since I'll never know, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I feel pretty good knowing a little more about this shitty disease and feeling I can call the doc with any further questions or concerns. At this point I'll give him 4 stars.

Let me start by saying my first visit with this doctor was amazing…read more However all interactions after this were not with the doctor and instead with office staff. --- I had to contact the office multiple times for lab and x ray results but dismissed this as a fluke --- For my follow up visit, where I needed to talk about my medication management and current pain levels I was denied access to care due to my need for ADA parking which was limited due to construction and damage in the parking garage. I tried for two weeks to make a complaint to corporate and they have not returned any of my calls to ensure that I have what is needed medically for my care. They couldn't even pretend to resolve it by saying if I pay this unfair fee I can be seen right away ---- I arrived 20 minutes early but was unable to locate handicap-accessible parking to fit my vehicle due to construction and blocked spaces in the nearby garages. While searching for parking, I called the office around 10:00 a.m. to inform them of my situation and ask whether I could still be seen by being worked in or did they want me to reschedule. I was transferred between three different call center representatives before finally connecting with someone. I have attached a photo I took today because I had to return to this same building to see another provider. The spots are still blocked off and not van accessible to allow for access for a person in a wheelchair like my son. By the time I found a parking spot at 10:20 am, I was told not to come in by the call center staff and that I would be charged a no-show fee, despite being on the phone with their call center for over 20 minutes trying to get help. At no point did I attempt to miss the appointment, I was actively trying to attend and communicate with the office because this is important for me to try to get a handle on my own health care. I explicitly asked them to put me through to the office and verify that I could not be seen. I was told no one answered the phone and also that they answered and said no... contradicting what the office manager later said. When the office manager, Jasmine Jackson, contacted me the following day, she stated that the office would have been able to see me had the call center communicated that I was waiting outside, but I was told not to come in by them even though I explicitly asked to be seen multiple times. Jasmine went further to blame me, suggesting that I should have parked in a lot a few blocks away behind a Tiffany's store. I am not familiar with the area, and I chose the two garages nearest the building and then street parking, because I was concerned about my ability to walk farther with my adult son, who has limited mobility and is difficult to push in a wheelchair, especially given my own back and extremity pain that limits my ablity to walk long distances. I also spoke with Kelly in the business office and Stacey in the call center, both of whom said they would follow up with me regarding this issue. Neither has contacted me as promised, demonstrating a continued lack of responsiveness from the office. I am concerned now that I have been abandoned for care because they are prioritizing this no show fee for an appointment I begged to attend as soon as I figured out how to safely get my son and I inside over my actual health status, knowing my medical condition impacts a vulnerable person who relies on my care.
