Literally, as good as it gets for a root canal.
I was referred to Dr. Pascoe by my dentist, as I finally have the money and the insurance to start dealing with some of the problems in my mouth (yay poverty?) and I am so happy that I stumbled across this practice.
Having had one root canal in the past, I knew they're not fun, but not really a big deal. However, I still suffered from some anxiety today as my appointment time neared. Mostly, I live in fear of the "your teeth are messed up therefore you're a terrible human being" rhetoric I've experienced at other dental practices. I got none of that here.
I was taken back on time, even though the appointment was later in the day. The assistant was professional and took a couple of x-rays. They have a handheld x-ray machine - it was like being rung up for a wedding registry. So cool. The assistant did a phenomenal job of explaining the procedure I was about to undergo, and the aftercare instructions. She got me set up with a pillow and there was a fuzzy blanket clearly available if I needed something to warm me up, which I didn't. There were clear instructions given to me for how to signal if I needed her to stop the doctor, or if I needed more suction.
Then, Dr. Pascoe came in. He's a lovely person, and an absolute wizard with the anaesthetic. Got me good and numb before he even got started giving me injections, so that even the one on the inside of my upper palate didn't hurt at all. He went through the procedure with me even more thoroughly, and got to work.
I needed a second round of anaesthetic, and he was great about that, actually injecting the numby stuff into the actual roots of my tooth. There was some kind of computer/microscope/drill combination that I was absolutely fascinated by. Seriously the technology in this place was amazeballs.
Every single step of the way, he let me know in plain English what he'd be doing, and what kind of sensation I could expect. He and his assistant worked together like rockstars to go as quickly as possible, and he asked at several points throughout the procedure how I was doing. Fabulous. I felt nothing, no pain, not even much pressure, during the 40 or so minutes of drills and weird pokey bits.
At no point did I feel judged, lectured or derided. This is important to me.
I know I will need at least one more root canal, and I'm honestly almost looking forward to it now. This guy is the absolute best.
The address is not correct on Yelp, though. He's on S. Colorado at Yale. read more
