Had to go in recently for a root canal and everyone I interacted with there was very friendly. Giselle at the front desk was very helpful with the questions I had beforehand and during my appointment, while Jessica and Dr Kunath were both very kind and soothing to me while I was getting the procedure done. I have dental anxiety (don't we all) but they made sure to make it a great experience so thank you all. This is not a perfect 5 star review simply because of my checkout experience. They do not tell you ahead of time they do not take a payment plan, or at check-in either. And they also expect you to pay hundreds of dollars (after your insurance doesn't cover much like usual) before walking out the door. Not everyone has extra money laying around, especially with how bad the economy is nowadays. Glad I have a credit card for moments like this but still, it's pretty disappointing. Stay Away!! I had a root canal performed here about a year ago. Within a month after the root canal I was still in pain. I went back to the office and they assured me nothing was wrong and that I just needed my permanent crown to be placed and the pain would go away. Well I had the crown put on and the pain never went away. After a year and multiple dentists visits later. I have finally found the cause of my pain and it was a bad root canal!!!!! Wowo!!! Do not go!! They will not listen to their patients and assume the pain is not real. Edit: I finally had my tooth pulled that they performed the root canal on a year ago! My pain is finally gone. I was referred to Red Rocks Endodontics by my dentist for a possible root canal. The office staff who greeted me were are all very courteous and professional. I was then seen by Dr. Nielsen, and he was terrific! He really listened as I described my symptoms and took time and care to discuss possible courses of action. We decided on a root canal, which was done right there, and the procedure went off without a hitch. Dr. Nielsen was equally attentive during my follow-up consultation and I've had no issues in my tooth since then (after getting a crown at my dentist's). Highly recommended! read more

Unbelievable. They insisted on full X-rays that I had just had done at my regular dentists, (said they couldn't use them - a lie), talked to the DDS about 5 minutes, and he said he couldn't do anything. Then, they had the nerve to bill me on top of what I paid them at the visit. They said that was the only charge which I paid, but then I get another bill for almost $200, and it's their fault. What a rip-off. Stay away from them, and don't believe anything they say. They're liars. read more

Consultation took 9 days to set up from the date I was referred, never saw the dentist only the assistant. The dentist only comes in two days a week but was too busy to speak with me. Tooth extraction confirmed as the option by the assistant. Never paid so much for so little. I really felt disrespected- wasted money. Will never recommend. read more

I had a great experience here... Well, at least as great of an experience as you can have with a root canal! I had terrible tooth pain over the holidays and so many places were closed. Finally found a dentist who could take me the Friday after Christmas and when I went in he said I needed a root canal and referred me here. They were able to see me the same day and early enough that I could catch my flight to head out for the weekend. I'm now a couple weeks out and I don't have any pain. I will note that Google maps had me driving around in circles to get there. It's just off Kipling, so don't veer to too far out of the way. read more

While not actually having a procedure done here, I did have to deal with the aftermath of my wife having had a procedure here and I would not recommend this place, or specifically this endodontist (Dr.Farmer) to my worst enemies. She had a root canal performed at the end of November and was feeling much better after this emergency surgery. Cut forward a month or so and she is laid flat by the pain in her mouth so calls again to see if she can get it checked out since it seems infected (the same, albeit worse symptoms then she experienced originally which necessitated the root canal in the first place). She goes to see Dr. Farmer again, where he taps on her tooth, accuses her of googling her symptoms and states that she is not in enough pain for it to be infected. He then summarily dismissed her from the office, gaslighting her and making her feel as she is crazy. She then scheduled an appointment with our regular dentist, who actually did more than just tap on her tooth and was able to diagnose, correctly, the fact that the tooth was indeed infected. Since she was able to get some antibiotics and a proper diagnosis, she is on the road to recovery but in no way because she went to Red Rocks Endodontics, and more specifically, "Dr." Farmer. read more

Get the costs and potential costs upfront, and always call before you pay with Red Rocks Endodontics. The staff up front was very nice, fielded my questions and my frustrations very well. The dentist brushed over the financial outcomes of doing my procedure. **side note** I was sent a $140 bill for imaging after I paid $1641 on my root canal. When I called and asked about the imaging bill they said it was a mistake and to please ignore it. Was ready to put the check in their envelope before I called to double check. Main issue with this place is that I was unaware that the crown of my tooth would need to be replaced after my root canal, until told by my regular dentist. This seems fair, I now understand more about crowns and their lifespan. The dentist here should have stated that was a possible outcome which comes with another ~2k charge, rather than me finding out after the procedure. When inquired, there should have been a hint of empathy. "That's just the cost of dental work" is a mentality from someone who is disconnected from what these costs are on the ground. He's a dentist, he went to USC, he seems well-spoken and successful. It does not seem like he understands what 2 Thousand dollars is for a portion of the population. read more

Has anyone ever written a glowing review about root canals? For Red Rocks, yes! So I'll add my story. I have had several procedures done at Red Rocks by Dr. Scott. The first, taking care of a 20 year old root canal that was infected at the root (had an accident when I was 12). Dr. Scott Horsley was amazing. Made sure I was comfortable, talked to me about the procedure. His staff is also wonderful - they are so clam and kind, just what I needed when I was having a 3d scan of my head and many x-rays. Anyways, that first procedure took only 15 minutes and I was out the door with no pain. Wow. The second procedure was some surprise root canals. I had some lingering pain from a cavity filling the week prior. My dentist (Halsa Dental) referred me upstairs and Dr. Horsley confirmed I needed two root canals. He did them that day, in less than an hour! He also treated me with so much respect - those root canals were from sugar years back, (I'm sure), but he treated me without judgement. Also I swear, I have turned my sugar habits and cavity habits around! I can't say enough great things about this office, the doctors and the staff. I am someone who has had so much dental work in my life stemming from that accident as a kid and this place is one of the best I've been to. I completely agree with Austin's review on 10/18/2021. They did the exact same thing to me on 10/22/2021. I was referred to Red Rocks by my dentist because they said I needed a specialist for endodontic therapy (root canal). I made the mistake of presuming my information would be forwarded to their office...it wasn't. Then a month and a half later (12/2/2021), I received an invoice stating I still owe $361.80 after I already paid $252.80 immediately after the appointment. I did some digging into MetLife's policies, negotiated rates, coverages, etc. They didn't even bother to add my dental insurance while processing the bill. On top of that, they charged me again for the same items I already paid my dentist for (limited oral evaluation and intraoral, periapical first film). You can be certain I plan on calling them to have this sorted out. Because according to my calculations, they actually owe me $68.20. While I do appreciate them seeing me on such short notice and the staff seemed professional and polite, the billing portion is just outright nefarious. So 2 stars to Dr. Kevin Andrus for doing his job with my root canal, but that's all they're worth. I recommend finding a more trustworthy alternative. read more

Holy Dental Floss, Bat Man! I showed up at my dentist this morning expecting to have an extraction but between the time I made that appointment and arrived for that procedure, I developed a painful front tooth. "What a streak of bad luck!" commiserated my dentist, "Looks like you also need a root canal. Do you want us to see if you can get in to RedRocks today?" I'd seen both Dr's Andrus and Horsley in the past so could easily agree to have them see if I could be squeezed in. Two hours later, just enough time to run a few errands, I was at RedRocks Endodontics. Lots of us use the phrase: "I'd rater have a root canal!" instead of doing our taxes or cleaning the garage but I may never say that again. I was so very impressed (again) by their "Well Oiled Machine", a descriptor I stole from Carrie, the assistant when I mentioned how well they work together. She and Dr. Horsley were amazing and I was out of the office, root canal finished, face not oppressively numb and prescriptions in hand in less than an hour. When I say "five stars" I really mean it. A family member needed two root canals and her dentist said to go here. My oh my what a terrific office! I hardly can understand how they did it but both root canals were done in 45 minutes! I'm astounded at the speed and efficiency of this operation. She thought they did one in that time when the doctor said they had finished with both. It was a breeze! No pain and hours later she is doing great. Anyone looking for a specialist should absolutely consider going here. Of course they are not cheap but who wants to have such a thing be done on the cheap? You want it quick and easy without pain. Any dental work strikes fear in the hearts of most of us. My primary DDS, Dr Kasper, referred me to Red Rocks and I got in with Dr Andrus the next day. My tooth was evaluated, and the root canal re-treatment completed in the same visit. Dr Andrus and Jessica are an awesome team - moving quickly and efficiently, with some fabulous equipment. One dose of Tylenol that night only. I think the most important thing, besides their technical skill, is their personalities, which made me feel welcome, cared for and respected. I asked for detail as we went along and it was provided throughout. All my questions were addressed - I think I earned an Endodontics Certificate to hang on my wall. Yes to everyone, do check your insurance and billing - that is true in all medical settings. It will help minimize misunderstandings, which definitely can lead to a 'bad taste in your mouth' and sours the care aspect. I cannot say enough about this place! I had a crown put in at Highlands Smiles (they are great as well) last Thursday for a cracked tooth and ever since, I had been in really bad pain. I called my dentist yesterday and she immediately sent me to Horsley and Andrus. They saw me right away and made the process of getting my root canal seamless (even when I cried). DO NOT EVER GO HERE!!!! If I could put zero stars I would. I visisted Dr Horsley on a recommendation from my doctor for a root canal. I wrote on my form that I'm allergic to penicillin, and he prescribed me penicillin and I got a terrible rash and hives from this. I was off work for a week, and the doctor called me everyday. He offered to pay for my missed work and expenses... He then talked to his trust and they advised him he did nothing wrong. He's a terrible person and liar... 3 times I asked him if he knew I was allergic to penicillin would he prescribed this to me, and he said no. Totally unethical doctor who used the fact that he has 6 kids to gain empathy from me. read more
