I was suffering from SI pain, Sacroilliac joint pain, that radiated into my right hip and butt muscles. It started years ago and would subside and reemerge regularly. It was so bad in the past coupe of years that periodically I resorted to using trekking sticks to remain mobile. I started wearing an SI "belt" in the past year which helped some but I was still having pain during physical activity. I decided that since my orthopedist couldn't help me and physical therapy provided limited success I'd see a chiropractor. I have seen chiropractors off an on since the '70s so chiropractics wasn't new to me. I searched Yelp and decided I'd start with Dr. Mitchell and if I didn't get results I'd try another chiropractor. Because I'm in my seventies, I have a COMPLEX medical/health history. First thing I liked about Dr. Mitchell is that before he came into the room he took sufficient time to read my health history. Now some of that history is directly linked to my SI joint pain but multiple myeloma cancer, chronic kidney disease, etc. are just other things I deal with. But I wanted my mobility back, free from pain and that's why I was switching to a chiropractor. Dr. Mitchell is trained in numerous chiropractic modalities and uses different ones depending on what my SI joint needs that day. I'm HAPPY to say, I'm attending my senior aerobics classes again three times a week! I'm wearing my SI belt infrequently and after each chiropractic visit I can feel the subtle changes in my posture, balance and alignment. I first came across Dr. Mitchel about 15 years ago. He got me through some complicated back problems and a torn Achilles tendon issue. Then I moved 30 miles away. Today, 15 years later and again I am dealing with a back problem for a month that other doctors, acupuncturists and chiropractors couldn't fix, so I called Dr. Mitchell and made the 2 hour drive through LA County traffic to see him. Guess what? Dr. Mitchell fixed it. He is the most honest and gifted healer that I have ever had the good fortune to meet. I highly, highly recommend him, his skills and tools are unmatched. Having just visited Gary Mitchell, D.C. again (after not needing chiropractic care for a while) and also having recently learned about Yelp, I feel compelled to write a few words about him. Over the years I've had opportunity to use a number of Chiropractors, but none quite like him. His greatest virtue is his miraculous analytical inclination and skill. He will ask insightful and often surprising questions. Then he will perform all these little tests, asking you to resist him as he pulls this and pushes that; will find areas of no muscle strength at all and then may perform some action or adjustment you might not even feel at some seemingly totally unrelated place and--Voilá--your strength is instantly back and your discomfort is on the way out the window! Apart from that, if that were not enough, he is very strong AND very gentle, very smart and as genuinely charming and caring as anyone can be. His office staff is delightful, too. It is such a treat to go there that I could see where someone might want to even when they feel fine. I rarely leave a treatment without laughing out load at the peculiarity of it all, and the fact I could feel so much better in a matter of minutes. I am amazed whenever I hear about antagonistic relations between D.C,'s and M.D.'s (though certainly not from him--he'd be the first to tell you if you needed to see an M.D.) when chiropractic results are so incontrovertible. Dr. Gary Mitchell came to my rescue, after having a bad fall. I had tripped over a low, cement barrier/parking stop located in my parking spot. Landed sideways, full-force onto cement, hurting elbow, knee and opposite wrist. I didn't think anything was broken, but was in a panic concerning the damage to my body. (My regular Chiropractor recovering from emergency surgery.) Yesterday, after 12 days of concern, fear, avoiding Emergency $$$$ etc., I went into neighborhood chiropractic office for info, As I stood there crying in waiting room, Dr. Mitchell came out and checked on me. Scheduled my first appointment with him same day. . I am so relieved to have found a compassionate and experienced Chiropractor. Dr.Mitchell addressed all of my issues, elbow, shoulder, knee and opposite wrist. (He is The Body Whisperer!) I feel so much better after just one treatment session. He explained that recovery would be slow due to the damage and gave me exercises to help my elbow. My next appointment is Friday. I recommend Dr. Gary Mitchell.
