I have waited quite some time to write this review. I have been visiting Dr. Ash for several weeks…read morenow twice a week and just recently started physical therapy there as well. I'm someone who's hypermobile and I have a lot of various issues with my body, including an old shoulder injury that I had surgery on. All of that had compounded into my dislocating a rib, which is how I found myself at the office. I have been through over a dozen clinics and therapists and chiropractors in my life and can genuinely say that this has been one of the best experiences and it's genuinely giving me hope that I will be able to not have to constantly live in discomfort. Dr. Ash listens intently to everything that you have to say and he's not afraid to allow your input to guide what he does. You spend a significant amount of time in his office for appointments doing a variety of things to help address whatever your issue is. For me it's an array of manual adjustment, stretching, and compression therapy. I'd after my first session with Dr. ashes relatively new physical therapist , I am excited to continue going. He spends significant one on one time with you and really make sure that you're actually understanding and gaining the benefits of the exercises - not just putting you through the motions. I can't count the number of times I found a great physical therapist, but then was passed off to doing the actual exercises with an intern. That's not the case here. 10/10 recommend and will keep coming back and genuinely can't believe I found somewhere that might actually be able to help genuinely fix my body. Only other call out is make sure you read the parking signs because there's only street parking available and I wouldn't recommend parking in the one hour meter slots unless you're sure that your appointment will be less than that time. If you're willing to go 3 to 4 blocks away from the office, you'll find easy 2 hour free parking and honestly, you should walk around after your appointment anyways to help everything settle in.

I went there and he managed to talk me into buying a package. They did nothing for me. It's a scam…read more Stay away

My first problem is that this place profits off of selling wellness, everything about it feels…read moredesigned to sell you more sessions, more "treatments," more add-ons, instead of actually listening and helping you heal. Another problem is the owner, Dr. Ozar, who was quite unpleasant in my few interactions. When treatments don't feel right or work, his response is always that "you're not putting in the work", and it's incredibly discouraging to hear as a patient. Instead of apologizing or taking responsibility or even reassessing the treatment plan, he shifts all the blame onto me! the person who is paying him hundreds of dollars. Dr. Ozar barely spends any time with patients -15 mins max, he'll pop in, give generic feedback, suggest you spend some more money, and move on. If they're running behind (which happens often), you can be left sitting in a cold room for up to 30 minutes. Sometimes they'll put you on electrical stimulation during that wait and yes, you're billed for it - I saw it in the codes from my insurance. It feels like they'll charge for anything they can. Now to the office side of things: billing is confusing and full of surprise charges. Itemized receipts are hard to get, and follow-up questions via email are often ignored. Communication about both care and billing is slow and inconsistent, leaving you constantly chasing down information and waiting for email replies. The staff behind the desk is lovely but clearly don't know what's going on with the billing - which is sketchy. I'm posting this anonymously because I've seen how harshly this business responds to negative reviews. And what really shocked me was how rude and defensive Dr. Ozar is in response to feedback. You can see it for yourself - just look at how he replies to other negative reviews. Instead of taking criticism with professionalism, he argues with patients, accuses them of lying, and writes condescending replies that make him look petty and unkind. If you decide to go, protect yourself. Get those superbills, double-check every charge, and keep every email you get. Ask questions and don't be afraid to push back. You deserve to feel cared for, not sold to. My statements are 100% accurate and reflect my true experience. I have nothing to gain by writing a false account of my experience.

He took X-rays, did mobility testing, and tracked my progress over time. I wasn't just hoping I was getting better. I could actually see the changes in my X-rays and the improvement in my range of motion. That gave me so much confidence that I was on the right path. With regular adjustments and preventative care, my back pain got to the point where I was able to start lifting weights, practice yoga and Pilates consistently, and live my life without constantly thinking about my back. If I ever tweaked something, one visit with Dr. Brook usually had me feeling like myself again. I'd always walk out feeling straighter and taller. He's also just an incredible person. He's kind, positive, and one of those people who immediately puts you at ease. Somehow he always knew exactly what was going on with my spine before I even said anything. It still amazes me. When he moved to Encinitas, I was genuinely bummed. But I'll happily make the two hour drive every month or two because I can't imagine trusting anyone else with my spine. He's that good. I recommend Dr. Brook to anyone dealing with back pain or just wanting to take better care of their spine. I only wish he were still closer to Los Angeles.

Dr. Mahtaban changed my life…read more Two years ago, when I was 15, I had a debilitating lifting accident in my school's gym. I had it checked out by my school's athletic trainers, in which they told me to take pain medications and rest as they didn't flag it as "any big deal." The next day, I had a competitive golf-match which I tried to play through and later found out that I definitively couldn't. I was in so much pain I couldn't sleep and I could barely walk (something a 15 y/o should never have to experience). Turns out, I had a disc herniation (L4-L5) that went undiagnosed by my school's athletic trainers. That's when my dad had booked me an appointment here, at Elite Chiropractic with Dr. Mahtaban. I have spent countless hours with Dr. Mahtaban and the rest of the staff here at Elite, and they are truly the best people. The combination of decompression therapy, traditional adjustments, and cupping therapy allowed me to make a full recovery. I am back feeling better and healthier than I ever have and that is all thanks to Jamie and his team. I was back to lifting within a few months and back to golf within six. Even today I still utilize the stretches and exercises that Dr. had assigned me when I was hurt. Aside from the treatment, Dr. Mahtaban and his team are amazing people. Like I stated earlier, I had spent many hours with him during decompression therapy or adjustments and we used to chat a ton. He genuinely cared about me as a patient and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to get to know him and the rest of the staff. I cannot stress enough the impact that Elite made on my health and overall life. A big thanks to Dr. Mahtaban and the rest of the staff here. Highly recommend to everybody.

Highly recommend anybody with any sort of injury to come see him.

I cannot recommend this office based on my personal experience…read more The biggest issue was with insurance billing. I am insured through Health Net UC Blue & Gold HMO. Before scheduling my appointment, I contacted the office, provided my insurance information, and was told that my insurance was not accepted, so I paid the $99 initial visit out of pocket. After the visit, I again provided my insurance information and specifically asked whether my treatment would be covered. I was again told that it would not be covered and was offered a package of four follow-up visits that I also would have had to pay for out of pocket. Because I wanted to better understand my chiropractic benefits, I contacted Health Net, which worked with American Specialty Health (ASH), the administrator of my chiropractic coverage. They informed me that this office was, in fact, an in-network provider. During their investigation, I was informed that the office had stated I had not presented my insurance information at the time of service. This was inconsistent with my experience, as I had provided my insurance information before my appointment and again after my visit when I specifically asked about coverage. Health Net subsequently initiated a grievance. The provider later agreed to submit the claim through ASH and refund the amount I paid above my required $20 copayment. This entire situation was frustrating and could have been avoided with accurate verification and processing of my insurance coverage. I was also disappointed with the clinical encounter. I did not feel that the doctor took sufficient time to listen to the history of my condition before beginning treatment. My symptoms were consistent with a recurrent SI joint problem that had previously been successfully treated by another chiropractor in a single visit. The adjustments I received here did not provide any improvement. Another concern was the lack of privacy. My initial consultation took place in the doctor's office, but the office door remained wide open and was directly adjacent to the waiting area. As a result, other patients could easily overhear our conversation. Treatment was also performed in an open area visible to patients in the waiting room, which I found uncomfortable. Finally, I was surprised to be asked for my Social Security number to create a login for future visits. Given the sensitivity of this information and the increasing concern about identity theft, I was not comfortable providing it. After I declined, the office simply used the last four digits of my phone number instead, which worked without issue. I have since found another chiropractor and will not be returning. Others may have had a different experience, but based on mine, I cannot recommend this office.

(Preferably to…read moreKolt Chiropractic - he's INCREDIBLE and still in the West LA area) Dr. Karr has everyone pretty much do the exact same thing when you come, like a conveyor belt of clients. Come in, use massage chair or use the 2 exercise machines. Lays you down for the electrodes and heating pad, and then general adjustment (in open view of everyone else). His hours are so inconvenient and parking is so frustrating. The biggest issue was after all the treatment was over. As a victim of an accident AND a patient you are already going through so much physically, mentally, and emotionally. Dealing with lawyers and insurance and doctors and countless appointments is beyond stressful. Then you finally get to the end and Dr. Karr demands an INSANE amount of money for treatment (mind you, he pushes you to see him 3 times a week and gives attitude if you only come once or twice. He's trying to pad the bill) Every other doctor provides a reasonable bill and also lowers that bill to a fair and logical amount. Not Dr. Karr. He's greedy and requires more money than even the lawyers, any other doctors, or you (the client) receives. I urge you to go elsewhere for better, more private, and more THOROUGH care. Get the most out of your recovery AND your settlement. I switched my care to Dr. Kolt from Kolt Chiropractic and he's PHENOMENAL!!!
